One day…Just want to also say thanks for supporting Ukulele Underground, loved their Jam last night and can’t wait for their concert. Above and beyond describes what you do, it really helps the world Uke community. Longevity, Health and Happiness to you all. Your instruments are stunning aesthetically and tone is gorgeous.
I love these ukuleles, I have one myself, got it for my 18th birthday, I gotta say, I’m stunned of how they’re built! Each sound is unique, hope to get a custom one someday!
What a great video showcasing the various sizes and respective tones. I bought a Tenor K1-T Natural and I am really enjoying it. Somewhat new to ukuleles but this instrument makes it a joy to learn. Looking forward to visiting the store/plant one day.
Hi Joe, what a great video. Love the ease with which you present. I love my Custom Tenor, its just way beyond what I was hoping for! Love your shirt too - are they available for the public?
Aloha Joe. I Cant stop thinking about these fantastic instruments! Love the sound. Thanks for sharing. Have you made a d-series 19” inch with 5 strings? The sound on the d-series and Willie k is so captivating.
I have a K1 Tenor (Tru-R) and because of it I desperately want a full sized guitar built by Kanile'a, with their beautiful construction and exquisite woods.
Joe, I've been thinking about how one holds a ukulele to play and how much of that dampens the resonace. I estimate 5-10% is lost by dampening due to the forearm and the body contact, I'm thinking of how a violin is treated to reduce this by using chin and shoulder rests that do not touch the body and allow it to freely vibrate. Please experiemt with this. An arm rest should rest the arm without having to touch the top. That is easy to do but the hard part is what touches the body and the back. Its harder to deal with the back. You could call it external bracing of sorts. Knowing how Kanilea inovates, I think this is worthy of exploting.
Aloha, great question! The nut width and string spacing at the nut are the same on Soprano through Super Tenor. The string spacing at the bridge over the saddle is also the same. Mahalo!
Aloha, we still do build a pineapple tenor, but a pineapple concert hasn’t ever been in our lineup. Being a tenor the pineapple is ultimately the same thing as a traditional tenor. But, we now see that it could have been included as its own category.
Your devotion and enthusiasm really come through when you play. I enjoy your videos. Thank you!

Love your ukes.ALL OF THEM 😂
Question: are the nut widths & string spacing on the bridge, the same spacing dimensions from Soprano size through Tenor??

I was hoping to see n hear the pineapple concert or tenor! But no .. has Kanilea stopped producing them?
