The choreography and the backup guys are unnecessary and distracting. The clever but torturous lyrics are hard enough to follow. Murphy is phenomenal and should have just sang the ballad by herself.
The best Phyllis ever. The best Fosca ever, the best disney villain ever, the best guest appearance on The Mentalist ever! Donna Murphy, never die! Edit, I did a paper in College on why Mother Gothel is better that Judge Frollo. I am not kidding, YOU come into MY HOUSE?!?!
Donna has a nice red sleeveless dress, nice long red gloves, nice high heel shoes, nice jewelry, nice makeup, nice long brown hair, and a nice voice, she looks very beautiful and she sings very good
Donna Murphy is way too good for this director. I don't know, often You Tube is not kind to stage productions, but this looks like a diamond ( Murphy) ring in a... well, a store that doesn't sell diamond rings.
Lucy is juicy But terribly drab. Jessie is dressy But cold as a slab. Lucy wants to be dressy. Jessie wants to be juicy. Lucy wants to be Jessie And Jessie Lucy. You see, Jessie is racy But hard as a rock. Lucy is lacy But dull as a smock. Jessie wants to be lacy, Lucy wants to be Jessie. That's the sorrowful précis. It's very messy. Poor sad souls, Itching to be switching roles. Lucy wants to do what Jessie does, Jessie wants to be what Lucy was. Lucy's a lassie You pat on the head. Jessie is classy But virtually dead. Lucy wants to be classy. Jessie wants to be Lassie. If Lucy and Jessie could only combine, I could tell you someone Who would finally feel just fine!
It appears none of the eighteen commentors were fortunate enough to see the magnificent Alexis Smith in the original Broadway production of Follies. She didn't win the Tony award on looks alone. Sorry, but Donna doesn't come close. Nor does the staging match the memorable Michael Bennett original.
Can we say perfection??!!! As always, she is phenomenal and incomparable!!!

@@robsieger1886 It is not a ballad...so...
the amount of times i have watched this is innumerable. donna murphy is just mesmerising in this as always

Not to mention Wonderful Town (Broadway) and Pal Joey (Huntington)...

Forgot how talented she truly is!
Yeah baby!!!!
Surely she would have SWEPT the best musical actress theatre awards that season had that production been eligible or transferred.

The secret sexy past of Mrs. Astor!!
The best since Alexis Smith
Janie Dee was also great in London.
Even with a lyrical flub, she's great
ugh
Lucy is juicy
But terribly drab.
Jessie is dressy
But cold as a slab.
Lucy wants to be dressy.
Jessie wants to be juicy.
Lucy wants to be Jessie
And Jessie Lucy.
You see, Jessie is racy
But hard as a rock.
Lucy is lacy
But dull as a smock.
Jessie wants to be lacy,
Lucy wants to be Jessie.
That's the sorrowful précis.
It's very messy.
Poor sad souls,
Itching to be switching roles.
Lucy wants to do what Jessie does,
Jessie wants to be what Lucy was.
Lucy's a lassie
You pat on the head.
Jessie is classy
But virtually dead.
Lucy wants to be classy.
Jessie wants to be Lassie.
If Lucy and Jessie could only combine,
I could tell you someone
Who would finally feel just fine!
Brilliant lyrics from Sondheim.
