It's easy to see why Remick and Sondheim became such good friends; she has such a great feel for his material, and really does it wonderfully.
lee remick was so beautiful i wish she was still alive.
Agreed. The death of Lee Remick -- who does this song as well as Donna Murphy even without Murphy's magnificent singing voice -- from cancer at 55 in 1991, only six years after this was filmed, is truly outrageous fortune. Her off-the-cuff opinions about the song seem spot on and she brings a light-heartedness to the torturously difficult lyrics.
I became a huge fan of Lee Remick because of this performance. Just absolute, total, delicious perfection. This is how I'll always remember her.
Wow. Remick was so talented & smart but Hollywood couldn't get past her beauty.
Lee Remick will always live in the hearts of her true fans. Like me. Thanks for this post.
Wonderful! I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Lee is in a class by herself.
Lee Remick was such a wonderful actress and a great performer. I still miss her. Thanks for this post.
I wish she had done more musicals. She's darn good here.
This is a great clip, Lee Remick was such a talented, beautiful lady.
What a talent Lee Remick was!
I love Lee Remick in all movies or shows. I miss her.
Quel talent ! Quelle voix ! Quelle beauté ! Et surtout, quel regard !!
such a wonderful actress, dancer & singer! so pretty
Class. Pure class. There's just not that much of it around anymore. For the sake of 'freedom to do everything and anything' - we have surrendered class, and by that I mean 'grace'. Corn dogs or Veuve Clicquot with Ms. Remick would come out the same: the company of the lady and not the cuisine makes the moment. She is sorely missed.
what a sweet girl, not snobby like other actresses
Try telling Arthur Laurents that!
@@jusjellus Arthur Laurents was talented, but an asshole.
*tears* 💗😭💗💖💗💖🔥😍💖
And it's too bad Remick never got to play Phyllis Rogers Stone in a full production of 'Follies'. Alexis Smith may have been great, but the role seems made for Remick: she has just the touch of surface warmth under which hides the cold conundrum that is Phyllis.
Idiots. Shakespeare was performed for centuries, originally sans actresses & trolls believe only 1 actress can play Sondheim? Grow up b4 I throw up.
I hate the cuts the concert version makes to the dance numbers (And the ones the video makes to the concert), but the performances more than enough make up for it. As per usual, the original cast is better, but this is a damn good cast as well. Remick absolutely shines as Phyllis, but there's no beating Alexis Smith in the role.
Not a swimsuit competition, a'hole.
This song makes me nervous.
Swallow.
I have always LOVED Lee, but I do prefer Alexis Smith. IMO
Who?
I don't really like this song that much. It kind of makes me tense...
So stop listening to & trolling it.
Lee Remick was okay in this, but Ann B. Davis (Alice in "The Brady Bunch") or Nancy Kulp (Jane Hathaway from "The Beverly Hillbillies") would have been much better casting choices for this number.
Yeah, very funny, LOL.
