    Both your Malenia and your Karlach look absolutely amazing. I was already very impressed by the way you paint metal, but then you went and did that gorgeous damascus pattern. Hell yeah! And seriously, kudos to you for donating half of your pledges to charity like that, too. Looking forward to more videos from you! Keep up the amazing work! Your videos are a real treat to watch.

    this is mindblowing! the detail and care you put into every single facet (literally) of her … wow. what an incredible process to watch! and you explained each step so cohesively and engagingly; your voice-over is well-spoken and well-scripted. i was surprised to see that you don’t have very many videos/subscribers; you absolutely deserve a lot more recognition for not only the calibre of your work, but the quality of your videos! you’ve certainly earned a new subscriber from me :]
    i’m so glad that you and karlach found each other when you needed to last year, and i can’t think of a better way to honor her than bringing her to life through this labor of love. i look forward to seeing your future projects!!!

    Ofc I will, if I try, but it's hard to believe. Gosh... this looks outstanding, you did such an amazing job. Saved this vid to my goals folder ♥
    Honestly, before you said "I'm a starting channel", I thought you have around 100k followers or smth like that. I'm rooting for you getting to that number! But most importantly - feeling better inside. You are amazing ♥

      Wow, thank you so much for saying that! I can completely relate. Since I started painting and even now I still look at other painters and feel a sense of longing and doubt in my own abilities. Midway through projects I'll look at my work and get terribly frustrated when things don't turn out the way I want them to.
      I hope the video serves only as positive inspiration. I believe in you! I know we're separated by the internet but I am truly rooting for your artistic journey. I know it sounds corny but if you have a desire in your heart to improve it will happen, seriously.

    I haven’t even played the game (don’t own something capable of running it) but I’ve seen stuff from it. Karlach has such a cool design and seems like a really interesting character.
    Can’t decide if your model makes me want to bite the bullet and play the game or buy my own model and attempt to give it half as good a paint job (even though I’ll probably fail). Awesome work dude.

    • @jleefishstudios
      @jleefishstudios  Місяць тому

      I genuinely hope you get a chance to play it! Definitely the best game I played in 2023. As for painting highly recommend you give it a try. This was the first time I'd ever painted something at this scale (I usually do warhammer minis) and the larger size was an absolute blast.

    • @finlayames6216
      @finlayames6216 Місяць тому

      @@jleefishstudios hoping to soon be at a place where my finances let me buy a PS5 for basically the sole reason to play BG3. Until then I’ve started watching some of the voice actor streaming their play through a which has been fun.
      How’d you find painting the larger scale? Largest scale I’ve painted so far was MCP (slightly bigger then warhammer) and largest model is partway through a AAT for Star Wars legion? I can’t decide if the larger details would make it easier or would get more stressed about smooth blends (not a strong point of my skills).

    • @jleefishstudios
      @jleefishstudios  Місяць тому

      @@finlayames6216 hope the ps5 happens soon! When you get one highly recommend playing Persona 5 if you haven't already, it's literally my favorite of all time.
      The larger scale was extremely fun. I was really pleased that the fundamentals I have from painting small minis translated to the larger size. If anything, the increased scale made blending easier as there was more room to work with and it was easier to see where transitions begin/end.

      Thank you! Some tips on freehanding lines (in no particular order)
      1. Constantly twisting your brush into a fine point. I painted about 1-2 cm at a time then retwisted the tip. This made it go really slowly but helped with consistency.
      2. Using a bit more water than I normally would in the paint mix. You don't want so much that it will pool, but enough water to keep each stroke flowing smoothly.
      3. Bracing my hand against the model for stability.
      4. I didn't do it on camera but I went back in with the dark base color and covered up any mistakes/made some of the lines more thin
