That’s a big old piece!!! As you were taking the soil off I was getting Roy Neary vibes from Close Encounters, particularly as you picked it up and headed towards the house. (See the bit where he constructs Devils Tower in his front room, lobbing bricks and plants through the window) 😂👍 Great story telling. This is the kind of thing you excel at for me. 🏆
Thank you for sharing this beauty. It looks like you went pretty hard on the root base trying to cram it into that round pot. It might have done better in a wooden grow box or Anderson flat for a couple of years. Cheers.
I really wants to make a wisteria bonsai, but they seem to dislike flowering for me here in Norway. But I would never get my hands on a plant like you have here either..... Good to see you in action again Darren. Kenneth
I'm thankful to live in an area where there aren't really slugs 😂 I agree, that corkscrew branch is just wonderful! I look forward to seeing it with foliage and the eventual cutback for shaping.
2:42 That's a new wisteria plant right there! Did you plant it to make another bonsai out of it? Also at the end you don't have to prune the lower branches that are too low?
This video just makes me happy 😊. I love wisteria so much, I would love to get one but Arizona is rather hot lol, i think im going to put one under my mesquite in backyard yard.
Rhis was such a pleasure to watch. Next spring my similarly sized wisteria needs to go from the recovery tib into a development pot. If you happen to be nearby, want to give me a hand ;)? Really excellent video, calm and well paced.
This would be an interesting tree species to follow😉 I love the potential of cascading colour when the flowers burst forth but find the explosive growth a challenge to admire in a bonsai 🤔
I really enjoyed watching this one Darren. I am going to uproot my wisteria vine and just wondered if you would do this in early winter or later winter? No worries if you are not sure as I will probably default ot late winter. Keep on the good work :)
Hi could you please add the option to see auto-translated Hungarian subtitles on your videos? Love your content but sadly my english isn’t the best so it would help a lot. Thanks for your effort, Krisz.
I wasn't joking when I was vague - it's just a bunch of ingredients left over, some previous used for cuttings, others just leftover from other repots. It's approximately 50% coir and 50% bonsai soil. In this deeper pot it doesn't matter so much, but when I put the tree into a proper bonsai pot I will use mostly akadama, perhaps with small amount of pumice. Sorry I cannot be more specific.
Hi Scott, you’re the second person to ask this week, so I’ll make this a priority. It will just be a Short as I won’t be working on this tree until autumn
That comment was poking fun at myself as in recent videos I’ve made a point in saying at the start I don’t intend on bare rooting - only to end up fully bare rooting!
Wow, can't wait to see it in a few years, I is truly going to be a masterpiece.
agreed. I’ll be here in 4 years to see how happy she is.
Thanks see you then :)
I love how he disliked cutting the plastic. He clearly loves nature :)
I love nature and truly hate wasting plastic! Thanks
That’s a big old piece!!!

Thanks, I’m not familiar with close encounters I’ll have to look into it
1:00 I felt this pain late in the season too.
Very inspiring,thank you

Yes I planted that chunk. I will prune them at some point but for now more foliage means faster recovery
*The bird is so beautiful*
Imajinasi menyatu dengan alam menghasilkan sebuah senin yang luar biasa❤❤ saya suka bonsai, salam dari kami pecinta seni bonsai dari bali (indonesia)

Completely understand that slug reaction! Nasty ol things…
That Wisteria is a beast. Looking forward to seeing it develop.
Haha thanks yeah they freak me out a bit
Wow! I would love to see how it looks while it fully bloom 🤩
Me too, I haven’t had any flower buds on it since owning it, one day!
That's a big one 😅 great work Darren. I'm ready for an update when you have one 👍🏼
Thanks!
Wow, what thickness! A King of a tree.
Sangat menginspirasi pak bos, kebun idaman .... ❤❤

😂 at the vocal response to grabbing the slug. I probably would’ve done the same. New subscriber. Keep us posted on this tree’s progress!
A beautiful monster, indeed!
Yep! Thanks
Beautiful video, cant wait to see it bloom. 👍
Great video, that wisteria is very good looking !
Thanks
Well done, this is well presented video. This is great content that's enjoyable and there's a lot to appreciate here.
Great project.
After seeing a slug i would've really looked for more.
Mate I've been trying to grow my own wisteria for years with little to no luck, seeing this monster has made me green with envy. 😂
This was a lucky Facebook find a couple years back. Thanks!
Great vid Darren!
Thank you for this video. It is very soothing.
Just started one from scratch😊 hoping it lives.. so far I’ve got a nice little sapling
That’s great, let me know if I can help with anything
No offence Darren, but if you stuff your turkey with coco coir, I am going to have to turn down your dinner invitation. 😂🐦💙
*So beautiful*

I spotted your bag of Kitty Friend 😂, good luck with that Wisteria its gonna be a stunner .
Such a big beefy one you got there.

What a tree that’s going to be😮
Thanks I hope so!
thats a big beautiful wisteria. been wanting one for years. something way smaller then this giant tho haha, nice work too btw!
me too, I can’t find anyone who sells them!
I’m not surprised though, since if I had one, I wouldn’t sell it for anything
I got lucky on Facebook marketplace
Coco coir is the bomb
Lovely! 💚
Awesome! Going to need update pics! I have 2 wisteria's I'm developing, hopefully that get as big as this one.
How old is this specimen?
I bought it from a guy whose mother planted it approx 30 years ago!
Wow thats some thicc tree :O
Thanks Jim!
what proportions did you use for the substrate?

Big future 👌
Hi ya , I think your in my area would you or do you teach ?
Hi Matt, please drop me a message, email is in the description of the video
Can we get an update on the Wisteria?
Hi Scott, you’re the second person to ask this week, so I’ll make this a priority. It will just be a Short as I won’t be working on this tree until autumn
@@grobonsai thank you! Your awesome! My wisteria is not so happy so maybe I can infer something from you
Is there a reason you normally don’t bareroot trees?
That comment was poking fun at myself as in recent videos I’ve made a point in saying at the start I don’t intend on bare rooting - only to end up fully bare rooting!
How is the wisteria doing?
Absolutely exploded, it’s taking over the bench!
Can save the roots as cuttings
Yeah I kept the biggest chunks
That reminds me of the tree from harry potter
I get that - the twisted trunk/branches
👍👌
