One of the biggest reservations my wife and I had about traveling to Africa for the very first time was the fact that we have 3 small children. We have had a burning desire to visit our motherland for a while now and we finally had an opportunity. We knew that if we were going to visit, that we would want it to be a long one, at least 3-weeks and there was no way that we were willing to leave our children for that length of time. So we packed them up and took them along for the ride! Our trip will be documented into 4 different videos, and this one here is the first. This video documents our trip to Lake Kivu and most of the adventures from that day.
I am an African American (#FBA) and my goal for this video is to show other African Americans and Diasporas the Africa that the media and doesn't show us. All that we've ever heard about was the bad, which I always knew was less than the "half truth", so I figured I'd go and see for myself.... and take my family with me along for the ride.

Phoebe Paulsen Thankyou so much...My wife and I loved it there. We will be returning in 2021
the muzungu will tell you africa is horible via thier media and you cower and say you are not going, meanwhile the muzungu comes and enjoys himeself there ( did you spot the two in the back) lol😂 . better wake up brothers and sisters in the diaspora. nobody is saying move, but rather than spending your money looking at some stupid Eifel tower. go to the mother land and not only enjoy a great vacation and garden of Eden type Beautiful scenery but a bonus of connecting with the motherland.
💯💯
I agree. I don’t want to move there... YET. I have plenty of work to do with the brothers and sisters here in the US. But I will continue to visit and vacation... and just maybe one day, I will move somewhere on the continent permanently
I’m a subscriber. We will visit

How is the weather in Rwanda?
The weather is awesome there. It was between 80-85 degrees everyday we were there. We were there from Dec 26 - January 20.
Tropical, like Hawaii!

Thanks again king, for taking us on the journey with you and your fam. Lol. I luv it when grandma was holding on to grandchild life vest when touching the water while on boat ride, that's how grandma's are, always keeping an eye on them kids😊
Oh yeah. She always looking out and taking extra precautions with her grandchildren
Peace and blessings to your family. Thanks for the great content.
Thanks for watching sister 🙏🏿💯
I truly appreciate your video. Can you and your wife please share how to plan and book this trip? My husband and I also have 2 toddlers and would like to do a trip like this soon. Thanks in advance.
Yes! Thanks for reaching out! To be honest when we went we didn’t know anyone! At all! We just took a chance and went. 🤷🏿♂️ But when we got there, we met so many good people, many of which I still talk to til this very day. (8-months later) We found our plane tucked on an app called Fareboom... That app is great because it allows you to select a destination, and then it notifies you every time the price of airfare goes up and down... so we just waited until the price was at its lowest and then we bought the tickets. Then we used airb&b the entire time of our stay. If you’d like more info or just to talk tryout can email me at reachaustinw @yahoo.com.
@@PrestonMcCulloughJr. these great questions deserve videos dedicated to them.

this reminds me of the story about white people arriving in southern africa and seeing locals walking around with diamonds under their feet - just in the ground like it's nothing. lol.

When you were taught and shown on TV that Africa is a jungle and people sleep in sharks, what can you say Now? Are sleeping in the shark on in the nice house even bett than the one one you had in the US?
We are coming back to Africa to visit. Tanzania is our next destination.
Check out Senegal next, it is just as fast developing and stable as Rwanda.
Bro!! I was just looking into Senegal too. I saw a video from a UA-camr named Dynast Amir when he went to Senegal. I will be visiting there most definitely👌🏿💯
@@PrestonMcCulloughJr.Dynast and RJ Madhi of Made in Africa Project put my attention on Senegal, Ngor Island. African American brother Kehinde Wiley opened an Artists' Residence there named Black Rock Senegal.

If you are a Tarique nasheed fan, stay in America, you are marked. Don't no want in crazy in Africa.
🤦🏿♂️... Africa is my Continent too. And it’s nothing you can do about it... sorry 🤷🏿♂️
And yes! I am a BIG fan of Tariq Nasheed. I don’t agree with him 💯% on everything but... Yes I am a fan of his work
If you are a fan of NON Africans and maintain a post colonized mindset...stay off of this forum..."Don't no want in crazy in Africa".
alfonso m 💯💯 Right‼️ I agree.
@@PrestonMcCulloughJr. , Brother, of all the things he could have commented on based upon the "content" of your video, he chose the path of division and quite frankly, jealousy.
But I'm sure you already know what I mean, keep it coming young Lion, you and your family are fantastic motivators and show "leadership" of how to BE about it, not TALK about it.
Im a nue sub.
Preciate it family 💯💯👍🏿
