They whine too much. People live under bridges in the socalled rich cointry on earth. May I remind you America has both the Reserved Currency and the Petro-Dollar. This give them the abilty to money with suffering the inflation because the poorer countries subsidies it bad fiscal and monetary policy. Yet, 90% of American can survived an emergency tjat requied $1000. America is an African country. Their ignorance is sickening

Kigali does have their own version of Uber it's called Yego and it's super cheap and fast to get transport. The people in the airport didn't tell you because they all try to push tourist to us taxis.
That is true the air in Rwanda is so beautiful and also it's a peaceful country and loved people,
even if you are from somewhere else and you are black we think you are from Rwanda, only the accent can make us be like Where you from but it's all love not in a bad way

Tribal hatred is a simmering problem that can kick off if political winds change. Tutsis and Hutus class warfare developed into a genocide that killed upwards of 800,000 people. Let's pray that Americans making Rwanda their paradise never experience such tribal hatred!

You all just had a bad experience a bit my experience was totally different. The Airbnb was amazing and the host picked me up and dropped me off to the airport. They have a different service than bolt and Uber that drives you around a bring you food. Move. You need to try again. Bolt in Ghana from some places is horrible so I can relate but my move experience in Rwanda was good. Rwanda is one of the best countries Ive been to in Africa. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Rwanda 🇷🇼 Keep in mind Rwanda is a tiny economy only $11 billion GDP as compared to Kenya which is $120 billion GDP, so Rwanda is definitely not going to be like Kenya. They have a long way to go to catch up, however, they do an awesome job managing the little economy they have. All the Best!!
Nairobi GDP is 50billi USDs, that pretty 5× Rwanda's GDP.That pretty much says it all.

25$ is not really a scam price, especially if you drive like 30mn. I live around 10 MN from the airport and I'm used to pay around 13$ so I don't think it's that expensive. For a 30mn drive locals would pay maybe 20$. Fuel prices got a rise of 40% since last year

If you take a taxi that has a meter it can be like 10 dollars. So that is a scam if you pay 30 dollars.
No matter where you go in this world an airport taxi ride is gonna cost you. It’s best to get a hotel with pickup service.

Thing is in Rwanda they shop in the traditional Markets not in supermarket (3x mot expensive) 😂, if you try to go local it will be way Cheaper. Now Tanzania & K3nya are more 'fun'... They have access to sea, so it is easier. They're also huge economies, Rwanda is tiny and had to rise from ashes. Big up to 🇷🇼 🇰🇪 & 🇹🇿 for their brotherhood

30min ride in Toronto will cost you around 40bucks. If you guys were charged 25 in Kigali you are angels 🤩
In NY it can cost as much as 100 bucks with Uber or Lyft. Before Uber and Lyft the government set it at 30 anywhere from airport for regular TLC.

Great honest review . But somehow , got suprised at some of their admissions . Kinda perpetuate the thought some AAs people do very little to no research before going to their 'motherland' . Many of these good or bad surprises , are known facts , one doens't need to land to know these

Afrika is a dumping place for strugglin people from all over the world...wat a shame...
Botswana towns are beautiful and economically rich. Its quite expensive but rich compared say to many regional countries. This is probably because most of the things is imported mainly from South Africa including food. Also, the country is mostly desert, so less vegetation and less rains
...in short, Botswana is like a province to South Africa.
They buy most of their stuff in SA and sold at a higher price.
Safety is tops compared to SA.
I'm Kenyan and have had the same problem in Kigali on directions and maps and language..I get you completely

Re: directions there is a big improvement. If you know the address where you are going, Google directions works well. Next time, ask people they would give you directions. Also do some research before you go to a new place like about transportation and other basic things.
Are you a kenyan who can't speak swahili ? Because majority of people in the capital city speak or understand swahili
What is your typical process for researching Countries before you travel? I am surprised you did not look into transportation and currency exchange rate in advance. Especially since you were doing an air BNB and not a resort. Were the reviews good for the Air BNB?

In our opinion, yes.
Hi there. Visited for the first time in April. You definitely got scammed on the cab fare! Concerning food. We had a guy take us to buffet lunches in loads of hotels including the marriot. Prices are cheap as a non local. 3 of us stuffed ourselves for about £18 including drinks at one of them. Once you convert to pounds or dollars, it is cheap and the food is good with lots to choose from.

For where they were, to where they are now, just 20+ years later? I think the Rwandian Government and People should be Praised and Awarded. I don't see 1 other country anywhere on Earth that have achieved what they have in Rwanda. Just imagine, there are countries in eastern europe and asia and the middle east that have been at each other's throats for centuries within the country and still no signs of uniting. God bless them and I pray for them to continue on this unprecedented path. As for the poverty so many have mentioned; poverty rate will fall as Education increases.

Just a genuine interest, is Rwanda all about Kigali? I mean are there no other cities 'cause all we here is Kigali this and Kigali that. Maybe it's because the country is somewhat tiny.
Go to countries in the South like Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and big South Africa and see that there are more developed and neat cities in each and every Southern African country. And they are all eloquent in English...

What you have in the USA is not what you get in Africa. When in Africa look for Africa. Baby is beautiful and you are a beautiful family, but don't expect to get the same kind of world in Africa that you have in America. Love & Peace

Thank you very much for your video and I am very happy to see a young family setting out to explore the world (especially the African continent). As a experienced ex-pat who has lived in 6 different countries (I am born and raised in Florida), in which Rwanda was my home for 2+ years, where I found a beautiful wife, own property, and have a business. Let me give a few observations about this video along with a little advice based on my years of extensive international travel.
1. Research is critical. I noted from your video that this is an area in which you can improve. Adequate research would have provided:
1. The currency exchange rate
2. Uber doesn't exist in Rwanda
3. Grocery stores could have been located using Google Maps
I'm not sure where your Airbnb was, but I always have a back up hotel just in case the Airbnb was unsatisfactory.
There are markets in which to buy fresh organic vegetables and fruits. This is why advanced research is critical and will make your stay easier and hopefully avoid the headaches.
I'm happy that you are exposing yourself to the world and experiencing true Melaninated Freedom ✊🏾 Safe travels and I'm excited for you

If something is an inconvenience or is not there or there is a need, then it is a good business opportunity. If you have the determination, problem solving skills, or resources then it is good way to thrive there. The Rwandan government is looking for problem solving entrepreneurs to help them grow their economy.

The problem you had was that you wanted to have USA experience in Rwanda. Do your research first about transport, language, culture, ... Most of problems were from false expectations: remember English is a third language to Rwandans? It's like coming to USA and expecting people to speak French because French were in some states...
It actually admirable that some people would complain about this. The lack of self awareness and american centric view of the world is astounding sometime. But none goes to China , Russia, Italy , France to visit or study /work and complain about this

25 dollars to drive 30 miles is not a scam. Thats a blessing. Somebody is living a better life because you didnt stiff them to ridong you half and hour away for 5 usd.
We said 30 minutes not 30 miles. It couldn’t have been no more than 10 miles away.
Same thing happen to me in South Africa no Uber from the airport but they do have airport taxis and same price 650 zars

A lot of people don't speak either French or English. Most speak Kinyarwanda which I admire that they use their native language. For a foreigner it can be difficult to navigate but you figure out ways.

One thing a lot of people visiting Rwanda 🇷🇼 and getting low vibes or little interest in foreigners including native Africans is because of their culture. Rwanda is a country of its own and has its own ways of doing their own things. It's up to the visitors to adapt to Rwanda, not the other way around.

It's all good until another ethnic conflict breaks out from nowhere and you realize that you have no allies and no way to defend yourself. The Tutsi genocide was less try than 30 years ago. How dare anyone in that country smile or laugh or live as if the blood of nearly a million innocent people was not shed on those very streets.
They are resilient People
Only 29 years ago, black people were killing other black people in Rwanda! Tribal strife in these cities is always simmering!

Sorry RWANDANS for genocide we also experienced here in SA my Xhosa tribe were killed by Zulu IFP political party, they were backed by racist whites.
I saw several videos by Europeans that were highlighting the positives of African countries on UA-cam. Also some white Americans. I went to Kenya for my first trip. No shock for me. Maybe because I’ve been in the military.
Why would one leave the States to go to another country (S. Africa) that is similar to it when touring?
The main objective is to visit different places, experience different cultures and people.
