- Itachi's Susanoo is different from the rest because of the weapons it carries. The Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The Yata Mirror is said to be the ultimate defense of Itachi Uchiha. One of the most powerful tools in the Naruto series. Itachi only uses the Yata Mirror once in Naruto Shippuden, in the Sasuke vs Itachi fight. He uses it to to Orochimaru's 8 Headed Serpent, Sasuke's paper bombs and sword attack.
Even though the databooks state the mirror can block any attack, in reality that's not the case.

The way i see it and understand it's Nature is that Black Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) was not bluffing when he said Itachi is invincible and i will explain my observation. Both Totsuka Blade and Yata Mirror are Ethereal Weapons, Ethereal as a word means the following: Of or relating to the regions beyond the earth, Celestial, Heavenly, Unworldly, Spiritual, lacking material substance: immaterial, intangible. The Yata Mirror was an ethereal shield wielded by the left arm of Itachi's Susanoo. It is said to be endowed with all nature transformations, and is able to change its characteristics to any nature transformation to completely negate any attack, whether it be spiritual, or physical. So if it says it contains all nature transformations,this doesn't just mean the basic 5, It means ALL, and the fact that it blocks Spiritual attacks as well proves that, as we all know spiritual attacks belong to Yin Release. If i understand something from this it's that the Mirror contains:

Wind Release
Lightning Release
Earth Release
Water Release
Yin Release
Yang Release
Because it can't possibly contain all 6 and leave yang out and it does say that it blocks physical attacks as well. And there is no jutsu that is not composed of those Nature transformations even Mangekyo abilities, so even genjutsu or Kamui or teleportation won't pass through the mirror. So whatever the Nature of the used attack is, combined or not, it will be blocked by the mirror. It's also called mirror for a reason, why wasn't it called Yata Shield, being called a mirror is another proof that it repels anything, not just block. Here is an actual proof that it repels attacks not just blocks it, we have seen susanos get attacked multiple times: And either if they block the attack or not,the attacks are not repelled. But look closely what happened when Sasuke tried attacking Itachi's Susanoo, Sasuke who is out of chakra hits it with a pure physical attack (sword) - a yellow light emerges from Yata Mirror then Sasuke is blown several meters back. Now you tell me what's the meaning of what happened if it was not the attack getting repelled. How else can a pure sword attack produce a shockwave that pushes Sasuke all the way back and note that Itachi didn't even move the shield so he didn't push Sasuke either, and doesn't it remind you of something? - Gunbai Uchihas Reflection of Madara that repelled a mini tailed beast bomb of KCM2 Naruto. And it's obvious that Yata Mirror is something greater than that small item. So the Yata Mirror is an Ultimate Defense. Now on the sword of Totsuka: - It is sheathed in a sake jar: the blade is unlike any other - rather than a conventional form, the blade is actually the liquid inside the gourd that is released and shaped into a blade. It is an ethereal weapon with an enchanted blade capable of sealing the target it pierces. Those who are stabbed by the sword are drawn into the jar and trapped in a genjutsu-like "world of drunken dreams" for all eternity. It can also cut through objects like a normal blade, thereby giving the wielder great versatility in his attacks. Being a variant of the Sword of Kusanagi, this sword can cut through almost anything. As you can clearly see it's a liquid that can be shaped into a blade and a liquid of that shape shouldn't have the ability to really cut things. So this item that is Spiritual and a Liquid quite describes itself,with those given properties it pass through and seals anything it pierces. Now also note that Orochimaru said he has been searching for Totsuka Blade his Entire Life: - This means that both items are not related to Itachi's Susano,but he somehow found them and embedded them into his Susanoo, and Susanoo is a manifest of the user's chakra. This means those items don't have a constant physical form but they are Spiritual (Ethereal) that can be shaped freely by itachi and can interact with everything and block anything. Yata mirror is like a lot of stuff in 40k where they talk about lets say an Imperial Knight being basically unbeatable. But there are also a lot of random troops etc that can easily fuck one up just for the sake of it.

You're both wrong.
Neither Itachi or Madara *BROKE* out of the reanimation on their own and by their own strength when the jutsu was *active* only *HANZO* has done it on his own, his own strength.
Itachi didn't activate the Koto Amatsukami from his own free will and skill, the plot required it to happen but average Naruto enjoyer doesn't know how edo-tensei works. The tag is BY DEFAULT inside EVERY reanimated character. The TAG has its coding that FORCES the CHARACTER to DO stuff. Itachi didn't activate his MS to make the Koto to emerge, that was THE TAG that MADE him to do so.
Madara knew the hand signs how to undo the contract to the jutsu caster and he used that knowledge AFTER the release of the jutsu, not when it was active.
Hanzo is the onlyone that canonically resisted the jutsu when it was active and when Kabuto attempted to infuse more chakra to take over his mind. Hanzo is above the mentioned two in feats of breaking out of edo-tensei because he is the onlyone who has done it UNDENIABLY.

Edo-tensei is not a genjutsu, it's a category of its own even when it contains the terms of controlling someone. It's closer to ninjutsu.
I think your problem is the lack of comprehending what you read. You just repeated what I just said, just word it slightly differently by trying to make it a feat to Itachi when Itachi himself did not do anything by his own free will. Hence my point of plot.
Madara broke (*arguably*) only because the jutsu was UNDONE. Why? I am comparing the FEAT to someone who did it when the jutsu was at its PEAK. Madara's feat is lower than Hanzo. Am I saying that Hanzo wipes Madara? F no. Could Madara do the same? Very likely.
What I am saying is that Hanzo put more effort and did it the hard way and the most respectful way where the pure strength/ will power is the factor when it comes to the definition of BREAKING out of the control.
For example, what Madara did was that he uncuffed himself after he was given the key.
Hanzo uncuffed himself by tearing the handcuffs.
Itachi was free because someone else did it for him.
Hanzo's feat > Madara and Itachi.

guys I have a deep lore question:
zetsu recognized the yata mirror. this implies that the ability isn't unique to itachi. MS abilities are (more or less) given at random. so how many yata mirrors are there in the verse? if zetsu knew what it was then someone had to have it before itachi. does it happen in cycles? like every 5 generations, an uchiha happens to get it as his MS ability? is it like an incarnation situation where no 2 yata mirrors can exist at the same time? all of these questions apply to the totsuka blade as well btw
Incarnation theory is possible.
It's not as MS ability. It's an item. A spiritual item. Itachi infused it into either his sussano or his spirit, and it only manifests through sussano. Same with itachis snake sword.
There's been less than 10 MS users in naruto history.

They're not a separate system, almost all ninja just neglect the gates because they've got other things to specialize in and it just takes apparently far less effort to learn almost any jutsu set then to even unlock the first gate.

All of itachi's attack are of short-mid range... Also it costs a lot of Chakra... Though its hard to take down him, he can't sustain long fight.... Shinobi meeting this criteria might have a chance
@@YiLunMusk In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷🏻♂️ ☯️

I don't think so. Spiritual weapons most likely mean yin release, because we know yin release deals with Spiritual half of chakra. It also involves chakra powers that Indra inherited, as Obito told Naruto. Sossano itself is an example of that. Truth seeking orbs are not just five chakra natures and yin release but so involves yan release. That's why they don't just block any jutsu, they completely negates it. Otherwise yata mirror is totally bs that can't by explained by the magic system of story and would break it.

Yata mirror and Totsuka are exclusive to Itachi's Susanoo, similar to the myth it's based on where the God Suano'o carried these weapons to kill the three headed Orochi serpent before it was given to Amatarasu, however when other characters were given the Susanoo it was decided to make them all different to the user which why the others don't carry these weapons.

@@if7723 My theory for that is that The weapons were a rare recessive trait to an Uchiha ancestor's Susanoo( most likely an ancestor of Itachi) and Itachi just inherited it after some generations, this was probably passed down as legend and Orochimaru tried looking for them without realizing it was only an Uchiha/Susanoo trait and one that only existed in one individual prior to Itachi.

Key words if the story had been up to kishi but that hasn't truly been the case even from day 1 kishi may be the author on the cover but Naruto as a series has always been a pot of his ideas plus those who work with him. A world where kaguya or Boruto didn't happen would basically be a world where Naruto's history as a story realistically would become very different. Because what happened to Naruto with it's ending and what came after is just The nature of being a part of the shounen jump lineup with very few exceptions.
I didn't truly understand just what that meant until I became an author to be myself and learned a lot about the publishing world basically whether it's Manga or novels unless you are self published you are very unlikely to be able to write whatever you want with full freedom.

Against Kakashi in the classic he finished it up with one Tsukuyomi.

Against team seven in the beggining of Shippuden he was a double with 30% of his strength.
Against Sasuke he was sick and minutes away from an iminent death. Plus he didn't want to kill Sasuke there.
Against Naruto and Bee he was an Edo Tensei and we know the Edo's lose some quality from when they were alive.
Against Kabuto, again he was an Edo Tensei, but also had to restrain himself not to kill the caster of the jutsu.

Wrong. Just because you're not allowed to *kill* your opponent, doesn't mean that you're not fighting at your fullest potential. The restriction is a rule to win a fight, not the definition to lower your capabilities. Itachi did his best and tried his hardest to complete the ass-pull no jutsu to win a fight that he couldn't possibly win under said conditions on his own.
He literally rushed towards a guy who he had bare minimum if any intel on and he was lucky to have a Sasuke there to aid him. The Uchiha brothers both needed eachothers equally and only together could they stop Kabuto since NEITHER one of the two had ANY defense against auditory senjutsu enhanced genjutsu. They both needed to use their STRONGEST genjutsu to break eachothers out of it.
Also, the edo-tensei Itachi > alive ill Itachi. His restrictions are taken away and even a hacks to spam them. Edo-eye is as good as original eye apparently due to Izanami. That eye will vanish and affect the spirit but you can use it for that purpose even though they're FAKE. So honestly, I don't know WHAT nerfs did Itachi have during his edo when comparing to his last moments when he was still alive and the very fight he had with Sasuke.

Well we can use some logic. The Yata Mirror is a "spirtual" item, hence chakra based. It could be nullified with Chakra absorption skill (Sage of Six Path skills). The other skill could be thone used by Obito to hurt the Edo Tensei. Still it seems like an OP item that nobody cared about except Itachi and Orochimaru.

I don’t know if anybody has said this yet but from what I’ve seen from the anime/manga (my memory MIGHT be bad.), The mirror actually got broken. This was due to Kirin striking before Itachi could fully defend himself, but knowing Itachi, letting himself get fucking nuked was probably part of the plan.

You didn't even present any argument that the Yata mirror could break, you just said "If it could break, why didn't Itachi use it?" This is nonsense. Edo tensei Itachi cannot use his abilities as well as normal Itachi, he is already in kotoamatsukami, so even though his soul is the same, his mind is not even as talented as his old self. But Yata Mirror and Totsuka Sword require TOO much chakra, making it impossible for Itachi to spam these abilities. Itachi in Edo Tensei form did not use Yata Mirror to defeat Kabuto because he did not have enough chakra to do so and it would be illogical to use Susanoo in such an area. Itachi was busy preparing Izanami at the time so he didn't concentrate on Yata Mirror because that was the best way to stop Edo Tensei.Yata mirror can even block astral dimension attacks, so it can easily block the truth seeking orb as well. Imo itachi was supposed to be the final villain in naruto but they decided to extend the story and create new villains. There’s no other reason to give him those weapons. It’s not hard to imagine that his perfect susanoo itself would be actually invincible because it would be an evolution of his current susanoo along with the weapons. He was retconned at some point and my theory is that it happened when they realized how popular the story was and they wanted to build on it further. Based on his abilities and his tools, if he was actually evil, he should have done way more in the story. But most things in that universe that are overpowered don’t actually do anything.

The weakness of the Totsuka/Yata Mirror is it apparently can only be used by an ethereal being like Itachi's Susanoo, so if he runs out of chakra or deactivates Susanoo, he can't use it anymore. In that sense, you need a character that can simply outlast Itachi to beat it.

I agree mostly with everything what you said, but the yata mirror didn't block kirin. It was skeletal susanoo, as Itachi says he wouldn't survive without "this" while in first stage susanoo. After that he asks Sasuke if he has anything up his sleeves and after that he manifested armored susanoo, which took time.
I guess you can make this assumption, but "this" could refer to the Susanoo as a whole, not just the skeletal Susanoo, the thing about the Susanoo taking time to manifest is probably something he did on purpose to kinda show Sasuke how it works. Because we see later on people can activate complete Susanoos instantly too
