How To Power Flip 32 Omnibus Without Its Own Regulator
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2024
- Check my Omnibus playlist to see how to power it using the built in voltage regulator. But many guys want to know how to power it a different way to not use the V-reg. The benefits of doing this is, maybe your regulator went bad, or maybe you dont want to use it because it does get hot, maybe it broke off, or for any other reason.

Well, this was the video that introduced me to you. I didn't know you personally but you helped my a lot through your content. Thanks for everything you did, man. May you fly high and above forever in eternity. Rest in peace.
It's amazing to leave after leaving behind such useful remarks to help others, because GOOD NEVER DIES. RIP JC
I tested that out yesterday and the only thing I need to do is remove the bad regulator from the FC. it does work powering it from the 5V and having VBAT, but with a fried regulator I definitely need to separate the two power sources! thanks again man!
only question left is will I loose my 3.3V for my receiver if I remove the regulator from the system or will the 5V still provide power through the FC? I really don't want to jam in another component like a step down regulator for my spektrum receiver.
Another excellent Vid JC. That helps a lot since they are shipping the omnibus with the regulator in a little plastic bag. That assumes you didn't pay attention to the order options like me. I installed the regulator (with your help) but after watching this, I would have just left it off... Thanks
Still useful information... miss you JC
Thank You so much for this video. It really helped me troubleshoot a bad voltage regulator.
Dear Project Blue Falcon, I firstly wanted to thank you for your very helpful videos. I have an F3 AIO and its been a great guide to follow. I am using this board for a custom micro build and have paired it with a 6a AIO (4 in 1) ESC. Everything is functional as I have followed the procedure for power jumper connections. I however cannot get a voltage reading in Betaflight. I don't really care for current, I just want volts so I know when to come in to land. ESCs connect to VSS on the pin out, is there a possibility to jumper on the board or do I have to take steps to modify as in your video. The reason i ask is because I am using the plug on the underside of the board. I am assuming this apart from carrying pwm signals is the same as an ESC providing a 5v BEC input? Lots of people love this board and also AIO ESCs for convenience. It reads fine plugged into other boards straight up. Your help and advice would be much appreciated! Many thanks!
second...dang it, I had to go to the bathroom and missed it. Congrats Tobimai
Hi jc thanks for the video! A question why u use 2 ground (1 from battery to vbat ground and 1 from 5v ground and pw1 ground) 1 is not enough for the fc?
I plan on using the Omnibus F3 running iNav on a plane. I assume I can eliminate the built in 5v reg on the board as you mentioned in this video and then you the 5V/3A switching BEC from the ESC into motor 1 to give all the board 5v.... can confirm!?
hi jc . do you know if they fixed omnibus motor outputs . trying to build a hex with one and wondering what would be the best and easy to set up with just the motor outputs thanks .
Can you bridge VBAT to CRNT with solder and get current sensing that way? They're right next to each other on the board and it's not like the board can discern whether it's getting input from two different wires coming from the same place or 1 that feeds both pins.
Absolutely not. Current pins are not taking the voltage and changing that to a current reading. The current pins only accept a super low voltage pwm signal from an actual current sensor. A current sensor will take the voltage, do whats needed to figure out the current, then translate that into a signal which goes to the current pin. Applying voltage to the current pin will fry the processor.
Awesome, thank you. Surprisingly enough, I wired my F4 FC (a clone version) exactly the way you did in the video on my first go with no instruction to do it that way. In your experience, how accurate have you been able to get Virtual Current sensing to work? Or have you even messed with it much? I fly my batteries down to almost the same exact level every time just using the voltage telemetry with all the logical switches and special functions I've set up, but it'd be nice to get fuel % to go by as well. Not if Virtual Current isn't accurate enough to even bother doing the terrible current calibration process though.
So which is the actual repair video showing how to remove the V-reg? Thanks
What if you dont remove the LDO and power it from the lipo through vbat and use a 5v BEC on the esc pin, Would the LDO still get very hot?
Not only will it still get hot but you will greatly increase the risk of frying something. I'd just cut the legs off the V-reg.
@@ProjectBlueFalcon when i did i cut the legs -didnt want to power the board- its old black flip32F4
First off all realy thank your for that! My Flightcontroller dos not overheat anymore and it stays at 30 degrees. But i got still the problem that my OSD is turned off... it wont work... i tried a lot with switching grounds an stuff... but nothing works... i powered the Fc from PDB Matek xt60 with 5 volts. There are 4.96 volts going in.. i think thats close to 5 Volts and it has to work... but no... could it be any possibility that the OSD running out of voltage... ??
im doing a 6s build and i have the omnibus f4 osd flightcontroller. is
there anyway to hook up the vbat with this type voltage with the osd
working. i just realized i think this board is 2-5s direct power
connect. i could always connect the vbat with vreg off of the pdb to
keep voltage in its limits but i would loose the correct voltage for osd
to give me correct readings
any thoughts?
Instead of powering it through PWM pins can you instead power it through the PWM plug?
I am doing a micro build with the Omnibus F3 Nano on 4s. I ordered the FC without the BEC. Is there a way to use the current sensor even though the FC is powered by external 5v? I would like to view the voltage and current through the OSD.
Can anybody answer this question? Is it possible to connect the FC to a computer to Betaflight also while having the quad powered up with it's own battery. Will this fry the flight controller, and if so how can I connect the flight controller to a computer and also power it from a battery to calibrate esc's?
I know you have a video of how to fix the osd disappearing, can you link it here?? I cant seem to find it.
Here you go. Long story short, I just places all grounds on the PDB. Ground from VTx, camera, OSD, everything. ua-cam.com/video/adM5bz8slbo/v-deo.html
hay jc I just got the flip 32 it Flys around ok but we I got to flip or roll it skits out do u do wot this cod be
It really could be anything. PIDs set too high, too low, could be getting vibrations from motors or propellers, filters not tuned, ESCs not calibrated, channel endpoints not set right, and much more.
the only thing I power from the Omnibus F4 5V pin is the receiver, because it doesn't draw much amps
Do I have to do anything extra to connect to my computer? I have an f4 v2 pro.
The F4 Pro has a different voltage regulator than the other Omnibus flight controllers. It's better and doesn't have the same problems as the non pro versions. So this video wouldn't apply to you. As far as connecting to the computer and Betaflight if this is your first time you'll might have to change the driver to make it connect. Look in my Omnibus playlist and you'll find a few videos on how to do this.
I can't seem to find the regulator video. Can someone help me out with a link?
Hello I do not know where you connected to have volt battery
i have looked everywhere. where is your video for replacing the voltage regulator lol
just saw the news... RIP buddy...
First :)
yes, I got it one time... lol
