He's a Competent man who gets shit done even when it's difficult, even when he's in pain. He puts his feelings to the side to elevate his family. That's why he's so popular. Also, he slays ass and shoots guns.

I love the Tommy who is with Grace. But the one from the last few seasons I didn't like him so much anymore. But he's definitely very attractive and Cillian Murphy is one of the best actors out there.
Yeah, he gets very dark and paranoid. A Natural transition really for his life style... early Tommy does have a special place in my heart though!
I adore Thomas Shelby and tbh I think much of it is Cillian’s performance. With a lesser actor I really do feel the portrayal could’ve been a lot less nuanced and more traditionally villainous. Cillian has that ability (that I find similar with Denzel) to portray toughness and vulnerability simultaneously and can really generate empathy when their shouldn’t be.
I find this an interesting question though - can you really call a character good if their actions are bad? There are plenty of ways to provide for your family and even raise your community legally without murdering, cheating, blackmailing etc. Even if there is a certain honour about it and intentions are good - isn’t it actions that matter?

As well as this, I agree on the actor department - Cillian really does make this role, he is fantastic. It reminds me of how James Spader is perfect for the Blacklist, I couldn't imagine anyone else!

I could never see Tommy as a fictional character. I watched PB like documentary. This is also due to the wonderful acting of Cillian, story woven around by SK, directors and supporting actors 👌💯

Tommy Shelby definitely wanted more for his family. Go watch the series again, especially the first 3 seasons and how he talks about them. Alot of y'all just go right to the comments and didn't actually watch the show.

Also he kept the stolen guns in season 1 and starts spying on fascism in season 5, both put his family at unnessecary risk

English is my second language , what does it mean when people say “the cut” “Tommy threw his medals in the cut” lol I heard American slang using in the cut and British English using in the cut but Peaky is so English English that I get lost lol
