Just letting you know the Scene at 4:09 was an intentional foreplanning. He picked that fight there with them so that he can create a conflict with the Lee family for the time being. So that when Mr Kimber comes at him angry later on (at the pub) he shows him the bullet with his name on it in order to substantiate he is on his side 100%. He didnt start the fight at 4:09 out of anger or spite. It was a calculated move and conflict that was necessary. To which he went and amended that conflict by marrying John with one of the Lee girls in order to fix. All his moves were cold and calculated. Only time he reacts out of emotions is when they took his kid in season 3. The mans playing 3d Chesse while everyone on 2d.

Modern society wants to label people the hero or villain good or bad etc. That's not realistic at all. He's traumatized and been dealt a bad hand just attempting to carry on why embellish or label it? Look at the era too. Prohibition so if you drink automatic judgement back from the war so expectations there too. It's just death and suffering people don't know unless they know.
You're awesome. This content brings so much value. You dissect meticulously Thomas Shelby and synthesize with proper words, great job. I would recommend you Harvey Specter from Suits as an other prodigy of character🔥
I just realized that Tommy's experience as a tunneler is an allusion to voluntary confrontation with the unconscious. 1. He volunteered for the position 2. Tunneling literally involves submersion under the superficial 3. He transcended his previous state, which was naïve and unprepared for what was to come, through the full integration of his desire for power.
The war forced tommy to integrate his jungian shadow. Leading to him being more hyper aggressive which corresponds well with his high ambitions and hunger for money and power.
Great character analysis. The key is vulnerability in creating, sustaining and maintaining any relationship. If more people and businesses knew this and took advantage of this knowledge, we would all be in a better place. I dissect and analyze Astro chart forensically - through the lens of a criminal or gangster mainly. So well done!
I think the quote you're referring to in 14:00 is Carl Jung's Anima/Animus archetype theory, as he says "If you pay close attention you will see that the most masculine man has a feminine soul, and the most feminine woman has a masculine soul."
It's a good video but there's something you need to understand. On the early Tommys Imperfection part, they are not mistakes, it's his strategy to start a war with the Lee so he can work together with Kimber. He used the strategy "The enemy of my enemy is my Ally"
Re do the other part because of sound please thanks 🙂 Wil help gef you more views and recognition as a guy that cares for his viewers as others have stated this too 🙂

Cillian Murphy made Thomas Shelby iconic ...true the writing is fantastic but Cillian is a phenomenal and highly intelligent actor and I'm sure Steve Knight was knocked out by what this 5'7" sweet natured Irishman brought to the role ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You attribute the lack of emotions shown by Thomas Shelby to the historical conditioning of men to refrain from overt display of emotions. However, there is a contradiction here. Similar to Tommy, his brother Arthur also fought in WW1 and faced similar traumatic experiences. He also shared the similar upbringing of Tommy. However he is one character who almost wears his heart on his sleeves and has zero control over his feelings or passions. His wife Linda in fact manipulated his emotional nature to get close to him in early part of the series, Arthur attempted suicide and Tommy asked him a number of times to get a hold on himself.
@@kimonaNo1 That is exactly the point. Tommy's stoicism can't solely be attributed to some 'historic conditioning of men' as suggested in this video. Tommy's stoicism was his individualistic trait that made him a leader whereas the more emotional Arthur who shared Tommy's upbringing and had gone through similar traumatic experiences remained largely a follower.
