- The Ford Kuga's just been updated with a bold new face, a rejuvenated interior and… the diesel's been killed off. But can the hybrid version be a proper diesel replacement? Join me for an in-depth review of the new Kuga, including a look at the real-world economy of the 183hp all-wheel-drive hybrid setup, boot space, driving dynamics and my major infotainment annoyance.

You didnt mention the driver's seat is more adjustable than anything in its class with electrical adjustment with memories. It was the clincher for my wife who has a mobility issue.
I was looking into one of these and realized I can get an Audi Q3 diesel for the same money. It was really funny to see that the Kuga has soft plastics on the doors where the Audi doesn't. Not nice if you're an elbow on the door trim kinda guy.
Turning off the speed limiter is a 1 button press and hold of the LIM button on the left of the steering wheel. No drama 👍🏻
I knew there'd be a bloomin' shortcut!
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff yeh I found it on UA-cam by chance 😁, I hated having to turn it off on the screen if I remembered before driving off🙈
It still comes back on every time switch off engine. I like the active x trim looks better than the st line. What kills it for me are the cheap interiors..flimsy rear parcel shelf..plasticky everywhere and cheap hud.
@@jaysen704 As of 7th July this year all cars sold I the UK have to have ISA (intelligent speed assist) fitted, it's another nag that we will have to get used to but the button press still works and yes it reactivates every time you start the vehicle. Agree with the plastic interior, not good considering they are over 40k to buy 👍🏻
That blinding orange light on a center console…
£46,000. Dayum, car prices these days are no joke 😂
You might find "shortcuts" if you press the the button on the right side of the steering wheel it has a 3 horizontal lines symbol. The front seats are a great improvement being designed by AGR.
@@KAZUYADOG yep the AGR seats with 10 adjustments on the driver's seat are the best of any of the SUVs we tested, a new active self charging hybrid with the winter pack is being collected Thursday !
I'm guessing that the guy responsible for Ford interiors, who has been in post since the days of The Sweeney, is about to retire.and the quality of finish will be upgraded to British Leyland spec. Please start posting doable second hand stuff Tim, despite how it drives, this looks like the outcome of Fords relationship with Indesit.
😂😂
Ford used to dominate, nowadays they're pretty much behind the competition. Ford needs to overhaul its design big time.
Great video!
I like the wheels. Better looking than the standard ST line x wheels.
That's a lot of money for a little CUV. That's wild
This car's interior makes the ones in VW look smart and exciting.
I'll keep my mk 2 Kodiaq and several grand in the bank thanks. That interior looks very naff compared to the Kodi.
Does the 47mpg take into account money spent on electricity? How many miles/kWh does it get on electric running? I think for PHEVs we need to see total miles and total gallons plus total kWh then you can work out your own costs. So many company car owners have PHEVs as they are lower BiK but they never plug them in as they get fuel card but can’t claim back electric consumed at home. Makes no sense.
Makes perfect sense. It's called tax evasion. Or preferential income treatment if we need a bs marketing term for HR to use
Makes sense, but this one isn't a PHEV, so nothing spent on electricity.
Not over keen on the exterior design not very sophisticated at all and the price ! No point in complaining I suppose, they are all taking the hiss these days :)
Waiting 2 years from the US release was a mistake. They should’ve just brought over the Bronco Sport or Everest instead.
Tim, Having followed most of your (excellent) reviews it appears of late that you are accidently locked into a seemingly inescapable £45,000 price warp; sonic screwdriver required methinks!
Everything is £45k! I charged up an Ioniq 5N this morning. £45k!
07:23 Paint finish looks terrible!
Is it better than a Tiguan that’s the best joke ever.
I'm sorry titanium being the entry level is just wrong
Computers says no 😉
TRDS!
I’m experiencing quite a negative reaction to this thing 👀
Transit van-ish dashboard is boaking 😢
WTF FMC!!! CVT = nasty gash than a adult industry retirement community 🤮
I don’t even care if it’s okay to drive 😮
I’m diametrically opposed to Tim on this one 😢
2/10 at best from me, as I’d want to walk home.
That’s a lot for a cougar with cheap feeling bits.
My new Tiguan bores me senseless but is a nicer place to experience mundane driving
Looks good on the outside, boring design & cheap looking on the inside….& overpriced
Looked at one of these and ended up in Mercedes GLB Which actually came in Cheaper, Ford have lost the plot.
Better buying a Kia, Toyota or Hyundai equivalent
Manual stick would be better - that's where fun is, and Ford should focus on that. Also, cheap plastic inner door handles are fugly as duck... 2010-2020 (Fiesta) interior was the best 😛.
So, this costs roughly the same as a Mazda CX-60 3.3 Diesel in Homura spec, but has less power, worse handling, less room and worse interior? Yeah, I'll be over at the Japanese.
What is it about Ford interiors… they get the so wrong!.
CVT..👎🏻
PHEV range is falling behind the rivals.
Skoda now 70 miles.
This car has low benefit in kind , and because its a 2.5 would get the 25p per mile fuel rate. Making it far better as a company car than the skoda. Hence you see these everywhere
Whos dewigning ford interiors now? The updated puma and this are awful!
Totally. Puma department likely went full woke 🤮. Fiesta manual used to be fun to drive, I still love it.
there isn't such thing as a fun SUV 😬😬
Ford are on crack. No diesel, dead fiesta, puma facelift looks dogshit. I miss Ford being right up there with the best.
I don’t ever remember that period 😂
I bet you like the new Capri though right?
@@DontPanicDearoh god no 🤮 it was the oldest fiestas, focus, mondeo, sierra, or even further back the various escorts, cortina, they just had a certain identity and now they’re completely washed out and watered down
@@naferemix a certain identity yes I agree 😃
Up with the best? Mmmm MK1 Focus perhaps.
Other than that and the very odd exception, Ford to me has always been the brand least bothered about hiding the nasty cheapness and bland Tupperware nature of their products.
They occasionally hire in somebody to sort a chassis or two, but that’s about it.
Dire products, with fantastic marketing dpt. Turds rolled in glitter etc.
can you tell I’m not a blue oval person?
Ford lost its way a long time ago and it's still bumbling along 50 k for a ford 😂😂😂
A nearly £50k Ford. 🫣🤨🤔🤪
I paid 40k for the PHEV, ST line x with spare wheel, tech pack and optional paint. Easily doing 3.9 mpkwh and when I ran out of ev range I done between 50 to 80 mpg
Yeh but no one is going to pay 50K you can get massive discounts on Fords if you haggle and shop around - I saw a ‘ST Line X FHEV’ retail price £40,465, offered for £33,627. The ‘ST Line X PHEV’ Retail price £42,554 offered for £35,114 I had one of these for 24 hours and I thought it was the best driving car I’ve driven compared to the competition - all of which were mentioned in this review.
Well, it depends, I ordered a Kuga in November 2023, produced in January 2024, delivered at the end of March. Titanium, winter pack, spare tire. I don't need the other technology packs. 29k euros, after a discount from Ford and a 6,500 euro incentive from the government. Given the circumstances, I think I got a pretty good price. It's the Titanium PHEV, think this trim is not offered in the UK.
It does not matter, every Ford on the market will be recalled.
"Why it doesn't matter: whether there's a recall or not, what matters is if I pay 30k or 50k.
