My 2004 Toyota Highlander has been my Perfect micro home for the past 5 years and I couldn't be happier! I also choose Experiences over Posessions so I Live like a King!
Love your set up and I agree your transportation is better then van. I have a Van and what most don't talk about is the gas cost in van's. I drove my Van to Texas and drove my Suv to texas the cost was double in my Van. With my SUV I feel I can travel more and do more in my SUV. Another thing people don't realize Van's break down as well. Both have Pros and Cons I love both my vehicles. Everybody situation is different . I love your channel and will continue to support. ❤
I’ve been thru two minivans, & crazy as it sounds, but older model lasted longer than newer one cause less computer gadgets to go quirky!!! But it was crazy expensive to fuel up even when gas prices were ok! And…..newer model kept having problems!!! It sucked royally!!!!
I’ve been wanting a trailer for many years. Your mom’s is perfect! I have a Subaru OB and LOVE my car. I could camp alone in my car but inclement weather would be a challenge. My mom hated camping. You’re blessed ti have this time with your mom. ❤❤
@ my 2018 OB has a 2,800 weight limit. There are small fiberglass trailers under 2k that may be more suitable but they have gotten so pricey! I camp so little that renting them locally makes more fiscal sense. It’s a good way to check things out before committing : )
Buy a box of cornbread dressing and a box of bread dressing ,a can of low salt chicken broth, use that instead of the water it calls for, also use a little sage and minced onion,I mix them together and bake them, they don`t have to be baked,I also get a cooked chicken, from Walmart, now all you need is cranberry sauce, rolls and a pumpkin pie.
I started watching your videos a couple weeks ago. Love this one! It's so nice your mom was with you. Nothing like time in nature with your mom cooking and enjoying each other's company. You and your mom are beautiful. You look like twins. Thanks for taking us along ☺️
Absolutely do not get rid of that Subaru. You have another easily 150-200k miles on that vehicle….possibly more as long as you keep up the maintenance. Japanese made vehicles are way more reliable than American made. Keep saving and upgrade when you are fully ready. I love your attitude and pleasant way about yourself.
All those gadgets you carry would do my head in!!🙊 I make coffee with a spoonful of fresh ground coffee in a cup, only hot water and a teaspoon needed.😜 I manage fine with just a single burner butane "cooker".👌
I thought the same thing... I use an Aero Press, My Joe or a ceramic pour over. When I did cowboy coffee cleaning the pot was a pain, because when I backpack, that kettle is my everything, pot, kettle, bowl...in a vehicle those uncontained grounds just end up all over the place, but then I may be a bit of a klutz.
I think you should name your fancy coffee maker... I'm thinking "Fabio"! He could make frequent cameos in your videos where you enjoy a little luxury in remote places! Lol I Love your videos!
That's nice that you have a good relationship with your Mom. I grew up in a home with a narcissistic mother. She's 81 now and is meaner now than ever...lol
Love the video's as always. So nice to see your Mom. I lost my Mom on March 28/2020. Never take her for granted. You are right about the expense of a new vehicle. The van I got is outrageous, but I've been saving since I was 20 years old. So I don't feel so bad. My family thinks I've gone nutz. lol.
I'm glad you don't want to get rid of your car. It's cozy set up perfectly. You and your mom look like twins. It's great that you to can share this lifestyle. Cute doggo. Door dash is going OK. This week has been slow on the app.
Loved the sunset and watching Mom's dog keeping busy (and how great that he stayed nearby!) Thanks for explaining your reasons for sticking with what you've got...for now. I've mentioned to you before, but I'm starting late in life, on the cusp of retirement...and haven't chosen my camping vehicle yet...there are definitely a lot of things to consider...what works for me, you, or the next guy depends on so many different things and is personal. (In my case, they don't make what fits the bill completely...so I'm going to have to make compromises for sure).
Wow your Aunt is Catherine Gregory. I saw that build out video.❤ I love her channel. I never miss a video and I’ve been watching yours too❤ Birdie/Bertie! ❤ I’ve seen her in many videos on Catherine’s channel too.
I was so sure that I had seen this trailer before. It was on your Aunt's channel as they were building it. I nearly bought a cargo trailer after seeing it. I love it. Glad you're doing well. Thanks for sharing.
It’s great that you do things on your schedule, you’ve always been a good planner and you can trust that. I still love being in my Honda CRV even though I get pressure to buy a trailer or van. I will get a van someday too, but like you, when I know the time is right. Trailers can be hard to get to a trailhead too.
Birdie is a scene stealer. Lol. Great to see your mom out and about. I remember she had scary health issues a few years back. Any plans to meet you with aunt Catherine for a hike? I really enjoyed seeing the different perspectives of yours and Cat's videos.
Yes, fortunately my mom is still cancer free and continues to heal from her complications. I don’t have any plans with my Aunt that would involve filming but we’ll see what happens.
I remember watching that cargo trailer build out. I've been rolling with my self built cargo glamper conversion for 2 1/2 years. Good to see it again.😊 Hi Birdie 🐶
Love your outlook! Be happy with what you have, yes! Smart lady. It’s so simple! Just found your channel. I love seeing you and your mom camping. I’m trying to convince my 70 yr old mom to come and camp with me in the desert. She’s a bit stubborn and scared of critters. lol. Keep it up gal!
Glad to see your Mom and Birdie again! (1st met them on your Aunt Catherine’s channel). Hope to see you all camping again sometime. Also, your Subaru is well maintained and if it works for you why change?
For your bathroom, I use a small shower tent, a bucket or porta potty with bags...double bags. And toilet paper and wipes. I even have a propane heated shower system. It's all relatively portable and packs away nicely. For pee, I use one gallon milk containers. Because I'm stationary, I clean them after I properly dispose of the pee in a restroom or porta potty. I try not to pee when I poop. Is this TMI?
Thank you for another great video. If you are happy in your Subaru then, definitely stick with what you have. I prefer traveling in my minivan over the other 2 vehicles I have, but they are all paided off. The maintenance is really high on my Jeep Patriot, so I will likely sale it, now that it is just me. I am still on the fence about the classic class b van. It is really comfortable in camp but as you mentioned, fuel economy and stealth are non existent in the class b. Because mine is pushing 30 years old, there are a lot of private RV Parks that won't even let me stay. That is fine because those same Parks are usually crowed, and in noisy locations not to mention they don't have good trail access either. No one looks at my minivan. Everyone just assumes it is full of screaming kids and kid refuge smells and nobody wants to deal with that 😂. The class b has gotten the knock at a trail head and even on a pull out that it was parked at for less than 2 hours while I shuttled another car home before I got a ride back to pick it up. If the minivan had been the vehicle parked at the pull out I doubt I would have gotten the knock, the same for at the TH. My class b van although old is clean and the paint is still in really good shape. I can only imagine how often I would have to deal with officials if it was not in good shape... Using the vehicle you have and not having a loan and payments on something you don't need is smart and frees you up to save for have experiences . Vehicles are always a depreciating asset that requires maintenance. The bigger the vehicle the higher the maintenance costs. You are really smart about your journey. Thank you for taking us along. Blessings.
@nomad_unknown the minivan is the sweet spot for sure, but I do understand why my late husband loved the class b, for 2 it does offer more room and he really preferred standing when he was getting dressed. The key is paid off and well maintained. It helps to be handy and the be able to do mechanics work, if you are driving high milage or classic vehicles.
Thank You so much I appreciate Your videos and sharing Your heart What Your doing being free of all the unnecessary things in life that pin themselves on us Taxes - Rent- Time Good times and memories of being with Your mom Sunsets are my favorite I have listened to The Bitcoin Family Didi and his family travel the world every year He says in his videos to not settle in one spot to travel to get away from hamster wheel that today’s society would make us think we cant live without. My mantra is memories not stuff! And if a small vehicle like a Subaru or whatever works for you, keep up with that & save your $$, cause I know for sure a brand new van would cost nearly $50k & used one is $1/2 that!, & it’ll break down & when it does, it’ll be as much to try to make it run again!! Yeah! It’ll catch up to you quickly! My experience: used minivans! 👎 😢 you know what you got! Don’t let anybody sway you otherwise you know it won’t be good!!!
@ Thanks for sharing, I will definitely visit it and the other places you show. I just found your channel and so far I love it! You are officially now part of the nomads and car/van lifers list I follow! lol 💝
Im so sick of hearing folks saying get a van!!! I agree love doing the travel out of a vehicle and trunk. People are unrealistic. Gas alone is expensive in a huge van. Simple experiences always outway the traveling vans. Nice to experience a hotel with mineral spas or hiking by waterfalls than all money into house vans. Depends on how you want to live your own life. Renting one once in a while is nice. Had to add enjoy the mother & daughter poetic nature monolog 😊
Your mom’s trailer feels like a mansion compared to your Hotel Forester lol. Agree…keep your car, it gets you to everywhere you want to go.
Mom's cargo trailer build/setup is so cute!
My 2004 Toyota Highlander has been my Perfect micro home for the past 5 years and I couldn't be happier!

The cargo conversion sounds like a viable open for you since you could customize it to your needs.
@ my 2018 OB has a 2,800 weight limit. There are small fiberglass trailers under 2k that may be more suitable but they have gotten so pricey! I camp so little that renting them locally makes more fiscal sense. It’s a good way to check things out before committing : )

If you maintain this mindset you will be VERY successful in life! Always live beneath your means…you will never regret it! Good job, lady! 😊
Thank you for the encouragement!
Love that you’re close to your family.
Another great video ! That vehicle will last forever. Don't worry.

I think you should name your fancy coffee maker...
I'm thinking "Fabio"!

I Love your videos!
Haha I love it! Fabio it is!
I recently started watching you and I think you're pretty awesome. Glad you were able to spend time with your mom. Glad I found your channel. Be safe!
So glad you’re enjoying the journey!
Beautiful evening sky
I’m excited for the apple crisp! Your last attempt was adorable!
You're a smart cookie.
You and your mom are so lucky to have each other! Loved this video!!
Your dog is living its best life🙏❤️
Nice little set up you have.
Thanks!
Nothing better than Mom cooking. ❤Enjoy 😊
That's nice that you have a good relationship with your Mom.
I grew up in a home with a narcissistic mother. She's 81 now and is meaner now than ever...lol
I’m so sorry. I understand the pain of narcissistic relationships. 💙
Mums taking it up a level! I’m jealous!😊😊😊

It's a good life indeed!
Beautiful
I've downgraded from Class B to towing a teardrop to car camping i a KIA Niro. The Niro is so easy and efficient. 53 mpg. You are going it right.
Sounds like you understand the freedom that comes with efficiency. :)
This was a wonderful day for you and your mom 😅 love it am proud of your acommen that you have made keep it up am learning alot from you😅
It was a good day! Thanks for watching.
That sunset❤️❤️❤️
Hello 👋 new to your channel, enjoying your videos 😊
Welcome!
I remember watching that cargo trailer build out. I've been rolling with my self built cargo glamper conversion for 2 1/2 years. Good to see it again.😊 Hi Birdie 🐶
You so lucky have your mom there!!!
keep the Subaru!!! Totally agree with you.

glad to see you again thanks for posting beautiful
Guys have you thought about travelling with a stovetop pressure cooker? They are truly amazing and they use a fraction of the gas!
That’s a good suggestion! My mom only occasionally camps and I keep my kitchen set up and usage super minimal when I’m on my own.
Delightful !!!!
Glad to see your Mom and Birdie again! (1st met them on your Aunt Catherine’s channel). Hope to see you all camping again sometime. Also, your Subaru is well maintained and if it works for you why change?
So beautiful! 🔥
You could tow. scamp 13 with your Subaru but towing anything is a very different experience than just an suv.

Good for! Stay out of debt, and save money when you can.
That's the plan!
Respectfully, How do you maintain a valid drivers license & register your vehicle without a proper domicile address?
Thanks a good question. South Dakota makes it easy for nomads to establish residency.
You are so lucky that your mom will go camping with you. Or you with her, whatever.
Yes, I am!
I can only dream of outside living... But Im locked in the office 🤨
I’m sorry to hear that 😞
