Good day! Thank you for a quality product! 🤝👏
Tell me what is the operating temperature of the ID24 device, if I connect via a type-c/type-c cable, the ID24 gets very hot, unlike when connected via USB-A 3.2 - it is then cold. Is this normal? About 38-43 degrees Celsius. It turns out that the difference in current is 0.6 Amperes (1.5A USB Type-C 3.1), but it gets very hot.
It is summer now, the audio interface is used at an ambient temperature (at home) of 27-30 degrees...
On the PC motherboard, the type-c connector is marked as 3.2 gen 2.
It is normal for the unit to get warm when powered up. It's class-A pre-amps will, by their very nature, output heat, even when idle. The iD24 is designed ti handle this with the heat being sunk into the chassis so it can be dispersed. However, if you do still have concerns, please contact us at suppiort@audient.com
I love how the mk II came right after I purchased the mk I.. 🤦🏽♂️
I bought the MK2 today. Even cheaper than MK1. So far I love it.
lmao
😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Hi, I bought the ID14 II to replace a Focusrite, but I really need assistance setting it up through Reaper. Is anyone aware of an absolute beginners video or guide out there? The Focusrite had 4.5ms/4.5ms input/output, whereas I am getting 6.7ms/17ms with the ID14. I could really do with a little help if possible.
Hello there, Drop us a message at support@audient.com with details of your system and we can help you!
The new Type C to Type C cable does not connect to the Type C input on my laptop, but connects to the charging input. what to do?
Can you please let me know what Model computer you are using so we can help troubleshoot?
Yes same here. It won't work when using type C to C cable into my type C port on my laptop. I'm using msi gf63 which got type C port. I'm not sure if my type C port didn't support id14mkii. I've tried to use my smartphone charging cable (type C) and it's worked!. But the main point is why type C to C cable can't be use? Its will be wasted then.
Looking at the MSI website, the USB-C port should work with the iD14 as far as we can tell. If you send a message to support@audient.com we can assist.
Thanks for a great step-by-step setup!
Hi, I have a question,
playback sound is different from the actual sound,
playback sounds more "dull" and not as clear as actual sound(directly moniter)
is there something i need to setup?
my gear : giutar - ua dream65 - id14 mkii - logic pro
Can you ensure that your DAW 1+2 channels are panned hard left and hard right to ensure that you're not getting cancellations on your playback channels?
@@Audientworld Thanks for the reply!
I’m sure they are panned hard left and hard right. Is that correct when you are recording the sound is usually different because it through computer?
Hello agin, so we can help you resolve this, could you send a few screenshots of your mixer setup to support@audient.com so our support team can help?
Can you mention the model of that ANKER usb hub/adapter? Thanks
Hi I'm having problems with the speaker outputs. The volume is low and I can barely hear any sound from the speakers even know the knob is at max level. What are your suggestions?
That certainly doesn't sound right! Are you seeing a good signal level on the LED meters on the unit itself? Are the headphones also showing the same issues?
Can i use any usb cto c cable that comes like fast charging cables? or what type of cable should be use?
As long as the cable supports USB3.0 or higher and is under two meters then it should work.
@@Audientworld thanx
is not working to get the download to work... it says failed each time I try....
Also, there is no choice of Audient in the sound settings of my macbook pro M1 Sonoma at all!
How to get in touch with a tech service person at Audient?
I have mailed you guys... but I need help or I bought a device that cannot be used...
Hello, if you send a message to support@audient.com a member of our team will be in touch as soon as possible to help you. Due to it being a busier time of year than usual, first reply times are a little longer than usual (24-48hrs) but we will endeavor to get back to you as soon as possible.
Hi, What is the Converter used in this? And, does the headphone output power 250 ohms when it is connected to a USB A port?
We are unable to disclose the converters we are using at this moment in time.
The headphone amp will happily drive 250 Ohms connected to a USB-A port.
Hello, I want bye id14 mk2 but before I would like to know if I can i use it with my mac that has usb 2.0? 😕
The iD14 MKII requires USB3.0 to be powered fully so you may need to use a powered USB hub if you don't have a USB3.0 port.
Upgrading from a very old bottom shelf M-Audio preamp, happy to hear how great this sounds! I can't hear it while I'm recording though. Only on playback. How do I hear it while I'm recording? I use Adobe Audition, Waveform view. Don't see in hardware preferences or any other screen how to monitor the input....Pls halp!
To monitor your mic inputs, simply open the iD mixer software and pull up the fader for the Mic 1 and Mic 2 channels. This will send audio directly from the mics to the outputs with almost zero latency.
Hello, how are you, great interface and video. I'm wondering if I need to configure something to be able to connect my Valenton GP LT multi-effect pedal with the Audient ID14 balanced stereo output through the MIC/LINE input, some configuration is necessary so that I can grab the input as a line and not a mic, to do operate the pedal board.
Thank you.
There isn't a way to manually set if the input is Mic level or Line level, if you plug an XLR cable in then the iD14 treats this as Mic level and if you plug in a TRS jack, the iD14 treats it as a Line level signal
Hi, can I with the Audient ID14 MKII control the volume of the monitors and headphones, each one separately? I mean, do the monitors have their own independent volume signal and the headphones have their own independent volume signal? If yes, can the ID4 MKII do this as well? Thank you very much.
Yes, the iD14 MKII can control the volume of the speaker and headphone separately. You just press the speaker or headphone button depending on which you wish to adjust.
This isn't possible on the iD4 I'm afraid.
Hi there! Does the quality of audio is affect when using on USB3.0 port? I have an Imac 2012 that only has USB 3.0...I'm thinking about getting an ID14 to my home studio. Thanks
The Audio quality is exactly the same on o a USB3.0 as on a USB-C port so no need to worry!
@@Audientworld Thank you very much!
I'm having a hard time with my iD14 MkII. I use this device to listen to music and stream games via OBS. However I have come upon a slight problem, whenever I use the 2nd microphone input none of my games will pick up any signal at all when trying to use ingame voice. It only works with the first port. How come and how to fix it? I occasionally use the first port for an instrument, hence why I'd like to keep it clear of my microphone. Also the 2nd port works flawlessly in OBS and discord for example. (Windows 10)
This is unfortunately a limitation of some software that will only take audio from the first channel of an audio device.
One workaround of this is to use the loopback mix instead. In the iD mixer set the Loopback Source to CUE Mix and then in the CUE mix, pull up the Faders for the Mic 1 and Mic 2 channels and pan them both centrally. You should then get both the Mic and DI being fed to the game software.
@@Audientworld Thanks for the quick answer! It works, finally! I feel like a human again..
I bought it today. I made the connections. Rode nt1 5th. with headphones. I cannot record audio. When you touch the microphone, a sound is heard. 48 v is on. What setting should I make? My microphone connected via xlr input
What software are you using to record with and what OS are you using? If you can hear audio from the mic then it's more likely a DAW/recording software setup issue rather than a problem with the iD14.
@@Audientworld My operating system is windows 11 pro. I'm also trying the Windows built-in voice recorder. I also use Cubace 13 Pro for music.
Thank you, In Cubase, have you set up your Input buses so the iD14 is feeding your recording channels?
If you haven't already, could you please send a message to support@audient.com? If you can include a few screenshots of your DAW and iD mixer setups that would be great!
@@Audientworld I managed to record. What I want to know now is what's wrong with me. When I turn the computer on and off, I reset the Daw monitor setting to s mode. The microphone echoes loudly. Isn't it possible to save the settings and have them take effect every time the PC restarts?
@@AudientworldI am having the exact same problem, downloaded the drivers, set it so that my output and input is the id14, got sound coming out of it from things like my computer so I know the output is working, but the only time you can see anything for the input is when I am scratching on the microphone, but I can’t hear my scratching on it at all and the only indicator any input is happening at all is either when I flip the phantom power switch in either position, or scratching the mic. the sound spikes, but there isn’t even feedback it is just the digital interphase showing that something happened, I don’t know what to do. I am gonna try to open the mixer
I just bought the ID14 mk2 and i'm having lots of issues. First and probably the main problem that's causing all of the other problems I hope, is that I can't update the firmware to 1.08 from 1.04. It just fails repeatedly or hangs up on the initializing screen. I have the latest drivers installed, it's registered, and I uninstalled my old interface's drivers as recommended, too. The ID14 doesn't even show up in my control panel under the sound options (windows 10 pc laptop) but it does show up as a mouse because of the scroll wheel function on the interface. It shows up in my device manager as working properly so I know it's not a connection issue, and i'm using the provided usb-c cable connected directly into my laptop's usb-c port, no usb hub. I've uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, restarted the computer, unplugged and plugged the ID14 mk2 back in and nothing seems to work. I've opened a ticket with the Audient support team but I'm just hoping someone around here might have a solution I haven't tried in the meantime.
If you've opened a ticket with our support team then they should be in touch shortly to help you get your firmware installed. If any of the problems continue after that, then I'm sure they'll be able to help get these resolved as well!
I want to connect two volcas and both mic/line at the back of the interface sound very low in comparison with the instrument input in front. What am I doing wrong?
The Volcas have a stereo output jack so if you feed this into the Balanced line input, it will cancel a lot of the signal out as part of the balancing process. Using a TRS to 2x TS y-splitter should give you a better signal level
can i use the interface without connecting to a DAW ? if i want to connect a line-in through the optical AND connect some analog inputs via XLR, can i hear everything mixed together through the headphone jacks or even through the analog outputs all at the same time ?
I'm afraid this isn't possible on the iD14 as you've need to have it connected to your computer in order to access the software mixer application to route all those channels to the outputs.
I have an M-audio air 192/4 interface at the moment. But I'd also like for my TV, using an optical cable, to work with the interface so that the TV sound will come out of the monitors instead. Let's say i got myself one of these, would it work?
If the TV supports PCM or S/PDIF audio then yes this should work. You would need to have the iD14 connected to a PC via USB as well so you can access the software mixer and set up the optical port correctly.
Hello, I just bought my iD14 MKII and I have a question about the heat emitted by the interface. To judge by touch I would say that the interface is at 30-40 degrees Celsius constant. Is this the normal temperature of the interface??
The unit will feel a little warm in use, mostly due to the Class-A pre-amps which run a little warm just by their design. This is normal behaviour and the interface is engineered to handle this without an issue.
Can you set a surround set-up with the two sets of line outs? I.e one set of line out for fron left-right and the other one for the rear left-right
It's technically possible to do this but you wouldn't be able to control the volume of all 4 channels using the iD14 since the volume control is only stereo. You would need to use the DAW THRU function and use an external monitor controller.
Hi, i have a problem...I can see the audio track on mixer, but there's no sound from speakers neither from earphones...it's like the outputs don't work...have you a suggest? Thanks
Hello, CanI check that the speaker or headphone level is turned up as these will reset to zero when the unit is powered up. Press either the speaker or headphone button and turn hte control knob clockwise to increase the volume. Also check that your output isn't muted, if this is the case, the speaker or headphone light will blink when pressed. To undo this, press the main control knob down until it clicks.
Otherwise, ensure that the faders for the tracks you wish to monitor are pulled up in the software mixer
I have just purchased this and love it, but could you please guide me how to export the sound into iPhone? Thank you : )
The iD14 isn't officially compatible with iOS, however, you can set it up to get basic stereo input and output. Check out our channel for the iD4 MKII setup video and set up the iD14 MKII in the same way.
Which is better Audient id 14 mk2 or rme babyface blue?
I’ve connected to a 2010 iMac Hi Sierra…Driver software won’t open. Drop down menus are grayed out. The device is recognized by the iMac, and can set the sound pref to the ID. Tried legacy driver..no change.
That's certainly quite strange. Could you please send a message to support@audient.com so our support team can assist you?
Recieved a device its gain is increasing at boot and the meter is stucked with 2 red dots this happens each time after restart, firmware is updted all drivers installed, even tried on different pc windows also plz help whtas this problem
Hello there,
Thank you for your message. If you haven't already, can you please message support@audient.com and our team can help you!
I have the AuIdient id14 and can see the sound levels rise but no sound emerges. I get a message that the Audient is not plugged in. Any suggestions?
Hello, can you give us some more information about your setup? Are you on Mac or PC?
Are you trying to record audio into your DAW or playback audio via the iD14?
could i use my TV's optical out and connect to id14's optical in, connect my monitors and headphones to id14 and switch back and forth between listening to my tv through speakers/headphones?
It would depend on the model of TV and whether it can output stereo S/PDIF or PCM to the iD14, some TV's will only output DTS data via its optical port which the iD14 doesn't support.
Also, the iD14 would need to be connected to a computer when doing this so you can open the mixer app and route audio from the Optical inputs to the outputs. The iD14 wouldn't work in this setup as a standalone device.
Got it, thank you!
I have Bose Companion dual speakers running into a KVM switch. How do I set up my iD14 so I can work with my Bose speakers? The connection cable for the Bose speakers is a standard 1/8" headphone cable. Thanks.
The Bose can be connected to the 1/8" headphone output and be driven by the headphone amp, or you can use a 1/8" headphone Y-Splitter cable so you can feed the speakers using the two line outputs on the rear.
Hi i did all that was mentioned step by step on MAC OS and i still cant get an outout from the device (m1 MAC book air) Any help ?
Im sorry to hear that, if you haven't already, drop a mail to support@audient.com and our team will be happy to help you!
I need help. Why are sounding my iPhone headphones horrible when I connect them with my ID14 same as with my hyper X headset. Is it the ohm?
Hi there,
Please contact support@audient.com, and we'll see what the issue is.
Thanks
Hello! I recently purchased an id14 mkII. I wanted to check if it works smoothly on USB C Thunderbolt 3 ports. I am having problems on my Hackintosh computer, since my USB C is Thunderbolt 3, the audio lasts for a few seconds and cuts out. The interface is only working well over USB A 3.0 in my case. I await your response, thank you very much!
In theory, the unit should work on Thunderbolt 3 ports as they should be backwards compatible with USB and it certainly will on a Regular Mac. Hackingtosh's are a whole different kettle of fish however and not something we really test our products with, so we can't make any guarantees of USB-C functionality here.
I have audio playing through my studio monitors but have no volume activity on either ID mixer screen. Classic or modern.
Thats a little strange, have you go all the channels showing? You can check this from the "View Menu".
Otherwsie, you can try reseting the mixer using the link below: support.audient.com/hc/en-us/articles/205634789-How-do-I-return-the-mixer-to-its-default-state-
Can you use the optical port as input for a master cinch pair from a controller?
I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean by a Master Cinch Pair, would you be able to elaborate?
I cant adjust the volumn of my Macbook using audient id14 mkii. The master volumns are just greyed out. Is there any way I can adjust the volumn without touching the knob ?
It's not possible to use the Macbook volume keys to adjust the volume of the iD14 MKII I'm afraid, Because it's got separate volume controls for the monitor and headphone outputs, we're unable to control them both using the keys. You can adjust the monitor volume in the iD mixer software if you'd prefer not to use the interface itself.
I'm curious to know what the roundtrip latency figures are
We are just in the process of measuring and should have them available on the website shortly but they should be similar to the current iD44.
Can i run trs to xlr to my speakers on output 1 and trs to rca to my subwoofer on output 2? Does sound play from both outputs simultaneously? I know its not ideal but subwoofer only has rca in.
Yes, you can use outputs 1+2 to feed your speakers and then feed the subwoofer from outputs 3+4. Just be sure to assign both outputs to "Main Mix" in the iD mixer app.
Can iD14 get connected to an iPhone directly and record the line in (instrument input) for videos?
iD14 isn't officially supported on iOS. However, if you connect it via a powered USB hub and an Apple Camera Connection kit, it should be possible to get basic stereo input and output for recording and playback.
From Ableton Live (or any other DAW), can I route one track to outputs 1+2 and another to outputs 3+4? This is not clear from your video nor your manual.
This certainly is possible using ether the DAW THRU function or the CUE mixes in the iD mixer software depend on where you are sending audio to Audio effects or to a different set of speakers.
@@Audientworld Thanks. I studied your video on the iD mixer software and it all starts to make sense.
When will you update the ID44 to MKII ???
Hey i wanted to ask is ut safe to switch off(pull the plug) on the interface while your mic is conected to the interface?
You can unplug the unit whilst your microphone is still connected. We would recommend turning off phantom power first however if you're using it.
Hi, Just to confirm I cannot use instrument input and mic 1 input at the same time?
No, you cannot use Mic 1 and the DI at the same time. Plugging a jack into the DI will override whatever is plugged into Mic 1.
is the speaker out put L1 a mono channel or a stereo left and right channel.. becos i am only getting the left channel
The L1 channel is a mono channel, the left mono channel which would explain why you are only getting the left side. For stereo, you'd want to connect a jack to both the Left and right jacks to feed your monitors. If your monitors only have a stereo input, you can use a Y-splitter cable.
I need that black version of id14.
I am a drummer. How can I save the output settings while on an ipad 8 (ipad released in 2020)? I really need it to play with the playback in front of the public???
Hi there, unfortunately the iD14 MKII isn't compatible with iOS- only our iD4 MKI and EVO 4 devices are.
@@Audientworld Thank you for the answer. can we expect an update for "OS ipad" in the days or months to come? Because on ipad we can't save the settings !!!
There aren't any current plans to add this I'm afraid.
Is it possible to use it with ipad/iphone? (maybe with an adapter)
The iD14 MKII isn't officially support on iOS I'm afraid.
Do you need to download and install a driver if you want to use it on a iPad?
Hi Mub, you do not need a driver. We have a really useful setup video here that can help get you up and running: ua-cam.com/video/nf6H7u2-ct4/v-deo.html
Is this a big upgrade on the ID14 or would it not be that noticeable as I only bought my ID14 3 months ago. Also what is latency comparison between Mk1 and Mk2
The converters are technically better on the iD14 MkII, however the first generation unit is still great! The MkII also has the extra set of outputs on the back and headphone output on the front, as well as being completely bus powered, so it depends if those extra features are game changers for you. Latency wise we are running tests, but it is likely to be very similar to the iD14 MkI. You still have the ultra-low latency monitoring of your inputs through the iD Mixer on both units.
@@Audientworld So no real audible difference for home use? What about latency / roundtrip for 44.1khz and 128 samples
There will be a slight audible difference because of the updated AD/DA. It does depend on the speakers/headphones you are using. We will be publishing RTL times on our website for the iD14 shortly
Just purchase this masterpiece ❤🙏🏻
you are saying to use a usb 1 in a usb 3 socket? i dont follow ?
is it usb 3 ready?
The iD14 MKII uses a USB-C connection and can be connected to a USB-C port using the included cable, or to a USB-A port using a USB-C to USB-A cable which isn't included.
Is there a way to toggle between monitors active, headphones muted, and headphones active, monitors muted? So only one or the other is active, or are the headphone always active no matter what?
This can be done by setting the headphone outputs to 'ALT Speaker' in the system panel of the iD application. You can then set the iD button to control the ALT speaker switching which will allow you to easily switch between the two.
The only downside to this is that the headphones will also follow the monitor volume so you may need to increase the headphone level to compensate for this.
The ID 14 1 needed to be plugged in because of the premium burr brown converters. So I wonder if converters have been downgraded.
iD14 MkII uses USB3.0 which offers more power than USB2.0 as used in the previous generation, therefore we have been able to run the Class-A preamps and high quality converters (and everything else) over bus power this time. Converters are a big upgrade over the MkI units. You can check out the specs on our website at: audient.com/products/audio-interfaces/id14/tech-specs/
Audient please help me! In the 3L-4R monitor's output port, there is a flash signal on the interface, but there is no sound in the monitor? I don't know what I have set up wrong or missing, please help me
How do you have output 3+4 setup? Are you using it as a ALT output or are you using it along side outputs 1+2?
I just bought the id14 MkII, I'm having a issue with the headphones, In the mixer I have to pan both stereo channel knobs either all the way left or right to get a clear sound in the headphones, If I balance the knobs to center I get a really low quality muted sound? If I record with the knobs all the way left or right I just get one channel of sound, but if I center the knobs I just record the bad low quality sound.
My only work around so far is to record twice. Once on the left channel, and the other on the right channel, then combine them both. Not very efficient.
Is this when you are recording a stereo signal in through the inputs or when just playing audio back?
Can you send a message over to support@audient.com with more details about your setup (Mics/DAW...etc) and out team should be able to help you out!
@@Audientworld I think I figured it out. The audio in for the headphones might be faulty. I noticed this when slowly unplugged the headphones(While the sound was weak, Knobs panned correctly), I got a sound boost. So I played with how far I plugged in the headphones, and bingo, when I plugged it in all the way(you get that snap) the audio goes really bad, but if I leave just a millimeter gap(just before its fully plugged in) the sound it good. I'm not sure what to do at this point? So far the audio is good, but its not how the device is intended to be used.
Hello, that doesn't sound right! if you drop a message to the support them they'll help get this sorted out.
You didn't talk about connecting a toslink optical input for data and having the usb3 act as the independent power source via adapter plug.
Hi there, would you mind contact support@audient.com - they should be able to answer your question.
Add the option to set mono microphone natively in Windows like Focusrite does.
Applications without default downmixing to mono etc. Windows Recorder only play/record audio on the left channel otherwise.
It is annoying.
Thank you for your feedback!
I own id14 few years and it's really cool interface!
but I found one job for it and don't know how to be..
it has optical input. if I connect my TV via optical cable can I get somehow sound on monitors without laptop or PC? just like amplifier.
If your TV can outputs S/PDIF or PCM audio then this should work, you'd just have to experiment with the iD14's sample rate until you can match it to the TV.
@@Audientworld wow! I have S/PDIF)) I should try ASAP))) Thanks for your answer!
Just make sure to pull up the DIGI 1+2 channels in the iD Mixer to send them to your outputs and pan them hard left and right!
@@Audientworld sry, ID Mixer? I asked about straight connect, without laptop or PC)) That means no drivers. Sound card should work as passive hub.
And I wanna know does it work)) 😺
Apologies, I missed this detail in your initial message. Unfortunately, you would need to have access to the PC to use the iD mixer. It's not possible using just as a standalone device. Apologies for the confusion
Hi Audient, I’ve recently purchased the ID22, installed the drivers and mixing software, and was able to record *once* on my 2015 MacBook Pro.
The next time I tried to connect it, my MacBook didn’t acknowledge that the ID22 was connected when I look in system preferences (sound) also, if I open the mixing software, it pops up on screen, disappears then does this repeatedly.
Do I need to be using a powered hub? I thought that I’d be ok with the 22 (rather than the 14) as it has the more traditional USB cable.
Any ideas?
Plus, do I HAVE to use the mixing software, or can I just use the interface within Logic Pro?
Thank you in advance.
You shouldn't need to use a USB hub with the iD22 on a Macbook but what you are describing does sound like a USB connection issue. Firstly, if you haven't already, can you reboot the unit fully by removing the USB and power. Then try connecting the iD22 to a different USB port on your Mac. If you are using and kind f USB adaptor or unpowered hub, can you please try connecting directly instead?
The iD Mixer doesn't have to be used, it just allows you to adjust your monitoring.
Is it pssible to connect a shure sm58 mic to the front input (for instrument) ?
It's technically possible but not recommended as the high impedance of the DI will not work well with a microphone. We'd recommend using the XLR mic ports on the rear for a SM58.
@@Audientworld ok thanks 👍
My monitors are low volume and the sound is a bit weak and narrow, like a headphone output. Output is the latest level, all settings, drivers are up to date, and monitor settings are so, why do you think?
This may be a mixer setup issue, can you please ensure that your DAW 1+2 faders are pulled up to at least 0dB and are panned hard left and right as you will have a little cancellation if panned centrally.
Are the headphone outputs still functioning okay?
@@Audientworld Yes, headphone outputs. Are works. And on ID the levels are ok. When i work on DAW i get sound loud but normal windows sound are too low level and unquality.
@@Audientworld By the way guys, I also can not get sound from 3/4 monitor output , there's signal but no sound. But when i put 1/2 output it works. All ID volumes are on. Why do you think?
It sounds like your system audio level is set too low. If you go to the Sound settings In Windows, you should see a volume slider, ensure this is set to 100%. If you want to get sound from outputs 3+4, you would want to ensure the ALT speaker button is pressed, or you have re-assigned output3+4 to Main Mix in the system panel (View Menu > Show System Panel).
I've tryied different variation (from usb 3.0 type A, to USB C) and it's always shows that this audient ID14 mkII is 480 mbps speed and 500 mA in system information. Also it resets the level every time i reboot/connect/disconnect the device. Also i have a boomy sound every time it connected. What i'm doing wrong? Is it okay? macbook m1
The iD14 MKII does use USB2.0 data rates which are more than enough for Audio Data. This does mean that the system report can sometimes report it incorrectly but provided the unit is working correctly, this shouldn't be a problem.
You may get a bump noise on the outputs when the unit is powered on depending on the monitors you are using, this shouldn't cause any issues however.
Headphones output is mono? how can i get a decent stereo sound from the headphones output?
The headphone output is a stereo output. If you're getting mono audio, ensure the pan controls in the iD mixer software are panned hard left and right on your DAW channels. Also if you are using a headphone adaptor, try connecting the headphones directly instead to rule out a faulty adaptor. Headphones with inline microphones can also cause issues occasionally and may require you to use a splitter.
@@Audientworld yeah, it's sounding good now. Thx for the help.
Can I use the optical to connect the id14 to a speaker? I have the optical connected from the speaker to the id14, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
Hi there, the optical port on the iD14 MKII is an optical input, so it can only receive digital data, and is not able to output it.
@@Audientworld Ah okay thank you.
What's impedance of DI/Instrument input?
500k Ohm on the iD14 MKII 👍
@audientworld I’m planning to upgrade to id14 mkii but i have a question, does the level of monitor and headphones stays at the level we have set them on or not after restarting this audio interface?
Also, can i get output from monitors and headphones simultaneously or it stops output from monitors if we connect headphones ( as evo 4 )?
The speaker and headphone volume on the iD14 MKII will reset to zero when the unit is powered down.
Just wondering if the interface is class compliant why would I need the drivers?
The drivers install the iD mixer application which is used to route your audio to and from the outputs as well as giving you ASIO functionality on Windows.
How can I change the factory settings? Without the driver is almost useless, I've been in situations where I didn't have my personal computer and I needed 3/4 outs in the vanues and just didnt worked :/
The iD14 MKII is designed to be used with the iD Mixer application so you would need to use the mixer app to adjust the routing to outputs 3+4.
Hello. I own a ID14 Audient model. I just got myself a MacBook Pro 16'' 2021. I got my software on board, and when I connect it and start Logic Pro, it's saying "The last selected audio interface is not available". I press "OK", then it works for like 10 seconds and the same story happens. What should I do?
Same thing when simply trying to watch UA-cam. It keeps crushing.
Hello there,
This sounds like a USB connection issue. Could you please try a different USB port or a different USB cable? If you are using any kind if USB hub or adaptor, can you instead try connecting the unit directly to the computer?
Also check you are using the latest firmware, this can be found by going to Help > Check for Updates in the menu bar of the iD mixer app.
@@Audientworld thanks for a quick response, guys. I’m using Belkin USB Hub. My MacBook doesn’t have a USB port therefore I cannot avoid using hub.
The firmware has been verified as up to date.
The Macbook has USB-C ports which will work. You can use a USB-C to USB-C cable if you are on a MKII iD14 or a USB-C to USB-B cable if you are using a MKI iD14.
@@Audientworld got it! I will try C to C today and will let you know. Thanks much guys!
When I turn off the computer, ID14 is still active. Should I unplug USB TYPE C to stop powering it?
What should I do to be good for ID 14 ???
USB ports on some PC's wont power off so in this case, simply unplug the iD14. This is perfectly fine for the iD14.
i followed all instructions to get installed but i still can't hear anything through the headphones. :( I'm able to record and get a signal but there is no sound.
What can i be doing wrong?
Thanks.
Firstly, just double check your outputs are turned up sufficiently by pressing the headphone button and turning the volume control clockwsie.
If you're trying to monitor the inputs directly through the outputs, open up the iD mixer app and pull up the Mic 1 and Mic 2 channels. If you're still having issues, make sure none of the channels in the mixer have been solo'd by mistake.
Is it possible to connect a synthesizer to it?
Yes, a synth can be connected to the Line inputs on the rear. Using either one input for a mono synth or both line inputs for a stereo synth.
Need to know details about how to use phantom power please? As there is no power socket, only usb is there.
Hello,
For iD14 MKII, you don't require an external power supply to use phantom power, just flick the +48V switch on the channel you require and it should work 😊
@@Audientworld thank you, I'm new to audient and complicated set up, one more querry, what indicate the LED circled the big knob,
There aren't LEDs around the main knob, these are simply markings to help with setting the levels.
@@Audientworld thank you for your response. I have one more querry, I have redeemed steinberg software, installed it, and left/forget to install wave lab le11. Now I need to have installation key for installing this app. As the activation provided is already invalid.

IF A DEVICE IS CONNECTED YOU MAY NEED TO CHANGE ID14'S DIGITAL INPUT FORMAT...

This will typically happen if the preferred clock source is set to the optical inout rather than the internal clock. To resolve this, open the system panel (View > Show System Panel) and then adjust the "Preferred Clock Course" setting to Internal on the left hand side of the system panel.

Hi i have id14 mkii, so If connected with usb A on my PC, i think it's giving less output sound than my previous scarlett solo..is it because of the usb type? (USB 2.0)
Using a USB-A port will reduce the headroom of the headphone amplifier slightly but it shouldn't reduce the overall output level, otherwise, the USB type won't affect anything. Ensure you have the faders pulled up to at least 0dB in the iD mixer to get the correct level on your outputs
I plugged in a mic in the ID14, but i just get a mono signal on one side. On Mic Channel 1 it's left, on Channel 2 its just right.
I am a absolutly beginner....
How can I set the mic as "mono" or "stereo" so it get on both ears?
Thanks for your answere!
This will typically be down to the audio software you are using as it's not possible to adjust the panning behaviour from the iD software. If you can let us know the software you use, then we can suggest how to resolve this.
@@Audientworld Thank you for your answere.
But when i monitor the mic input over the iD software, I get also the sound just on one side...
I use Ableton Live 9 as my DAW to record :)
Thanks a lot for your help!
If you are monitoring directly via the iD mixer then you would just need to adjust the pan controls to the centre on the Mic 1 and Mic 2 channels.
In Ableton, ensure you are recording onto a Mono track, not a stereo track as a Mono track should be panned centrally by default.
@@Audientworld Its simple.....
That was it. Thank you very much for your help!
Hi ! One question I have recorded a full song with 44.100 khz and the another ones will be in 48. It will affect my final mix between the tracks? Because I don’t want to record it again. Thanks!!!
You can just use sample rate conversion to change an existing track to a different rate. Most Modern DAWs can handle this for you and do so without audio artefacts
@@Audientworld thanks!! 🙂
I have a problem with my microphone on windows 10. Everything is plugged in correctly. In the system options of windows i chosen "input 1/2". What should i do? It seems to be something with the settings on the iD interface. Thanks.
Are you seeing signal on the Mic channels of the iD mixer?
If so, can you check that the sample rate of both your inputs and outputs in the Sound control panel are set to the same rate?
@@Audientworld I can see the signal going up on the iD mixer when i speak, but not on Windows. Also i can't hear myself, i can only see the green bar going up and down. But my headphones works properly. On the setup of the iD mixer i "set sample rate to 44.1KHz" and on the windows options of "output 1/2" and "input 1/2" i did the same: 44.1 KHz. It looks like Windows does not recognize it. Or maybe i did something wrong. I have the older iD interface. Please help me, thanks.
Can you please try re-installing the drivers for the interface, making sure you have the latest version from our website? If you are still having issues, then, please send a message to support@audient.com with more details about your setup and our team will do thier best to resolve this.
Can I use ASIO Link Pro with this interface?
This isn't something we've personally tested but in theory it should work with the iD14 as far as we can tell.
I'm having trouble outputing sound. I see signals on my ID14 mkII, everything looks fine in mixer, but I can't get sound into my headphones. Any advice?
Can you please check the headphones are turned up by pressing the headphone button and turning up the volume control on the interface itself? If the headphone button is flashing, this indicates the headphones are muted and you can press down the main volume control to undo this.
@@Audientworld I tried to mute headphones and then unmute back, and it worked somehow. Thanks
Does it work with Mac 2014? Also do we get Zero latency monitoring for vocal recording?
Provided your Mac runs El Capitan (10.11.6) or later than it should work. Yes, you can directly monitor your inputs using the iD mixer software. This gives near Zero latency monitoring (<0.5ms)
@@Audientworld Thank you so much 😊 Really appreciate
So the metres on the unit are not for input but only output? Also if I'm using usb c to A will the phantom power still be supplied via USB the same as if it was usb c to c?
The meters do show the currently output signal of the unit. The inputs can be measured using the software metes which give a much greater degree of precision.
The phantom power will work just fine on a USB-A to C cable, provided the USB port you are using is a USB3.0 port than can provide 900mA of bus power.
@@Audientworld Thank you. The flexibility of your routing software is one of the main reasons i want this product so i am happy to monitor inputs via there but i still think for the next upgrade to include this on the unit.
The MKII units have only just released so there aren't any plans to release a MKIII in the near future.
2:45 i dont have the 'Show mixer' option (I have an ID4). Maybe I'm missing an update?
There isn't a Mixer on the iD4 since all the routing can be done from the unit itself using the Monitor Mix and Monitor Pan features.
Why the meter leds are so unaligned on the device shown?
Good spot! The reason for this is that the device shown is one of the first prototypes of the new iD14 MKII
HI, I have my Korg kronos using spdif and it works fine with the id14 Mk2, but I cant change the imput level, any solution? I try all and the imput still in the same level. Thanks
There isn't an input level trim on the S/PDIF inout to adjust the input level. You can adjust the DIGI 1+2 faders in the mixer to change how loudly it is being monitored but this wont affect the level going into the DAW however. Volume changes would need to be made on the Korg if possible.
@@Audientworld okay 👍 thanks 🙂
I bought the AUDIENT ID14 MKI. I downloaded the driver from the site. But not installed. What is the problem?
Are you on macOS or Windows? If you're on macOS, once you dragged the iD icon to the app folder thats the install complete. When you open the app, you'll see an iD icon in the menu bar which you can click to open the mixer.
If you're on Windows, do you get any error messages during installation? Can you drop a message to support@audient.com and we'll be able to help!
Need help with below
What is the ideal position of Gain Knob for a condenser mic. At 50% it feels as low volume but at 70 or above it causes distortion.
Also the interface sometimes goes silent and only gets detected when we unplug and connect again. Is it normal or any solution for this?
It's really depends on the mic model and what you are recording. You want to aim for a peak level of around -10dB on the mixer software. Because of the progressive taper of the iD14, you may need to make only small changes to adjust the gains.
If the unit is disconnecting, it may be due to USB power saving, can you let me know what computer you use and we can help you with this?
@@Audientworld Hi Team, Thank you 😊
I am using AKG P420 mic
And Mac Mini 2014
The P420 is a fairly sensitive mic so you should be able to find a good level at around 2 o'clock on the gain control but you will need to experiment a little to get the right gain.
Can you try a different USB port on the Mac Mini to see if this changes the behaviour you are seeing?
Hello I have a doubt about the id14, if I wanna connect an old keyboard not usb to record in stereo can I use the 2 preamp /line in in the rear? I know there's an input for instruments but I would like to record in stereo and not in mono, and I would like to have a quality recording similar to the instrument input... Thanks
Yes, you can simply use the two line inputs on the rear of the unit to record a stereo keyboard using a pair of TRS jack cables. You will most likely want to keep the Gains quite low or even at minimum to minimise clipping
@@Audientworldthank you very much, I'm thinking about getting this unit so that helped...i have another question if you will, I know there's just one instrument input but if I wanna record for example a guitar and a bass on different tracks, there's a way to assign different instruments using the same input (and maybe with different levels too) on a daw?
I think it could be more a daw using properties than this specific unit but I would like to know if you think it's possible or not. Thanks in advance, have a nice day
Hi there, yes you can do this in your DAW. All you'll need to do is create another track to record on, and set it to have the same input.
@@Audientworld thanks a lot
hello, is it possible to use the instrument input, in frontal TRS along with a connected microphone in XLR/TRS ?
It's technically possible to connect a Dynamic Mic to the DI input on the front, but as it's unbalanced and has the wrong impedance, it won't usually sound very good so we recommend against it.
@@Audientworld I'm sorry, I didn't describe correctly. I would like to simultaneously record the guitar (to stream) into the instrument input, and communicate via microphone through the corresponding microphone input. is it realizable? Or does the instrument input permanently turn off both mic combo inputs?
Apologies for the confusion on our behalf. Connecting a Guitar to the DI port will disable Mic input 1, however you can still use Mic input 2 alongside the DI.
Warum kann ich beider ID Software für den Mac nicht "Set Sample Rate" einstellen wie für PC (min. 1:34 im Video)?
As the CoreAudio system works slightly differently from Windows Audio, you would instead change your sample rate from the Audio MIDI Setup app.
Da das CoreAudio-System etwas anders als Windows Audio funktioniert, würden Sie stattdessen Ihre Abtastrate in der Audio-MIDI-Setup-App ändern.
will it get full power needed if it's connected with a USB A 3.0 port?
Hi Sanket, Yes USB3.0 will power all aspects of iD14 at full quality 😊
Hi, do I need a power supply when I use Phantom Power?
The iD14 MKII doesn't require a power supply, it is powered from the USB connection.
@@Audientworld And let's not forget the iD14 Mk1, which also DOESN'T need a power supply.
Hi Robin, iD14 MkI doesn't need a power supply under most situations, however if you are wanting to use phantom power, then the power supply is required. By using the USB C connection on iD14 MkII, we have been able to do away with the power supply entirely on this model.
Is the ID14 compatible with Apple M1 macbooks running Big Sur OS?
Hi there, you'll be glad to know yes it is!
Any information regarding latency at the standard 256-512 samples with 16 bit 48 Khz that most home computers and laptops can handle? Thank you!
We should have more latency information up on our website shortly!
