Been using this product a lot lately. I wouldn't recommend it to inexperienced plasterers, or people that are slow. On larger areas I apply two separate coats as normal. On smaller areas I lay with the same mix but add a little water to it, knock it up with mixing drill to make it a bit more workable. Both methods work an absolute treat. All in all great its a great product.
I'd like to see a light shine down that wall
Shine a light down most walls and they won’t look amazing.
You’re not meant to shine lights across wall the standard is in normal daylight from a metre away, check out the British gypsum white book for finish standards.
@@Happytruth yeah exactly. Same with decorating, you snag from a metre away, not up close and personal
Doesn't mean you can get away with shit work.
Standards up.
Looking at that, I'll be using a fresh mix to second cote 👍
😂 that didn’t look good at the end. Maybe he didn’t trowel it in time
How long is a little.bit.longer?
Who is measuring 2mm on an old wall?
The only issue with using fast set over plasterers pre grit is it bubbles up it doesn’t like it you can see from this video it did exactly that , people seem to use pre grit on the wrong areas it’s purpose is for use on low suction vynl silk smooth concrete backgrounds etc hence the grit for a key
My bro went to shop after coating 😂 rang me uk nearly crying hahaha
Nice 😎
I know he said not to but, has anyone ever used half time with this fast set gear?
Dude. What was the black trowel you polished with?
It's a refina plastic finishing trowel
I hate this stuff. B&Q don't stock the traditional multi finish. I thought i was buying the same stuff (packing is the same, minus the green square). Being a DIYer, who is decent at plastering, I wouldn't recommend this stuff at all to a beginner. Pro's will probably love it. Is the boardfinish the replacement for the old multi finish?
No. Board finish is made. Only for plasterboard use. It’s been around for years. But ring. All I use is board finish. I use it on any background. Ans it trowels up nicer than multi. I so t use anything else
Use normal finish and put all the walls on …🤔
That’s what I thought mix up a fresh one for the 2nd coat aswell I’d say
@@martindonaton3603 it’s designed for small areas and patching. Why would you make a wall or a patch last 3 hours when there’s no need
@@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot like I said use normal finish and put all the walls on
@@martindonaton3603 just because he’s got 3 walls on show in this demonstration video, that’s not what I’m saying. It’s a small job and patch plaster, so on that basis alone saying use normal plaster and do 30 square meters with it makes no sense, that’s not what it was designed for
@@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot ha ha ha ha ha calm down nick
Get a quicker job with some cement in the mix
Cracks galore
The thistlepro fast set is a good product for walls and small areas. Let’s cut right to the Chase the bloke hasn’t got a cue, the wall looks dreadful and you can see all the lines in the plaster. It’s a good job that’s not mine house what he plastered. 😂
John is an excellent plasterer and an all round quality tradesman.
Comment from an non plasterer 😆😂😂😂
This guys mustard check his vids out really top spread, 2nd coating with the same gear doesn’t work unless it’s really watered down especially over grit the first coat really needs to pull in but this is how BG recommends using their product so he’s going to do it!
I thought he was plastering not playing snooker!!!....... he hasn’t got a cue??😂
Probably looks bad because he’s skimming over that crappy green grit.
That looks dreadful
Why do these how to plaster videos show poor working practice.....skim plaster should be applied in two separate coats ....first coat then another fresh coat for laying in. Stop teaching bad habits.
There is nowhere where it states a fresh mix for a second coat unless you’re a college student, as long as a second coat is applied over the first it is still two coats.
This guy is right If you use the product you will find it start becoming unworkable after at about 30 mins after mixing and is finished apart from a final polish at about 60mins, albeit you can polish an hour and a half later.
So depending on how quick you are and how complicated your set is (angles, nibs and reveals)you’re limited to how much you can get on in 30 mins.
I would say looking at the room he was in you could probably do two walls each set so that room would be done in 2 and a half hours without messing about mixing fresh plaster for laying in.
That was painful to watch. Bloke hasn't got a clue.
What you on about, he’s a professional plasterer
Take a look at his other vids instead of putting negative comments on UA-cam the lads a good spread
