Also, come to think of it, ‘there ARE lots of great outbursts.’ Not, ‘there IS lots of great outbursts.’ Did you go to school? I think you need an education.
What is even better is learning the behind the scenes stuff. Jimmy talked about it on an interview. During pitch/idea meetings at countdown offices they brought up the idea of doing the carrot-in-a-box for xmas and Jimmy and Jon didn't really want to do it they didn't like it but Sean wanted to, so just having it was because Sean wanted to do it. So really Sean was planning his "heist" right from the beginning. Then it came down to doing the episode and he put his plan into action.
Watch again and see just how quick he was - he's absolutely brilliant! Very sad Sean's no longer with us. He was a real class act. I'll honour him by watching his UA-cam clips as long as UA-cam lasts, or I do.
You've stumbled across 8 out of 10 cats does countdown, an odd comedy gem in Channel 4s output. Its a mash up of two separate programs one, 8 out of 10 cats, a comedy statistic panel show and the other, Countdown, a straight quiz show about letters and numbers. Put together some time ago and hosted by people from both, it really does have some hysterical moments !!!
You should watch Would I Lie To You, or more specifically, David Mitchell’s rants, or Bob Mortimer just being Bob Mortimer! There are compilations of both of them, quite a few for Mitchell as he’s one of the team captain’s. He’s SO funny!
Fun video! Even as a Brit living in America for quite a while, it's still strangely satisfying watching Americans appreciate humor that seems uniquely British to me. I mean, what other country would produce a show like '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown'? It's pleasing to see you both genuinely enjoying this stuff. Talking of uniquely British, I'd love to see what you guys would make of 'Shooting Stars'. 😵
There is a comic in England called Jasper Carrott.....not his real name. He does mainly stand-up and funny songs. His story about visiting America is hilarious. There is also an animated video of his story about a mole, and another one on his song "The day we went to Blackpool".
It’s great to see people outside of Britain and Ireland finally recognise and appreciate the genius of Sean Lock. That’s what that man was, an absolute genius of comedy and narrative.
Guys is there any way you can increase the volume on the vids you are watching? I can hear you fine with my volume at normal, but then when you start watching the requested video I have to turn my volume way way up to hear it. But then if an advert pops up, or 1 of you start talking or laughing it is absolutely blaring, when Spencer started cracking his knuckles I thought my roof was coming in.
We will try and sort out our audio on our next batch for sure. Thanks for the comment we are always trying to improve on the quality we put out. Much love!
Hi! Just found your channel thanks to British comedy, great reactions! 😅 I’d like to recommend the British series The IT Crowd and stand up comedienne Sarah Millican. Think you’ll enjoy them. You’ve got yourselves a new subscriber 🙂 Greetings from Sweden
Priceless '8 out of 10 cats' and the spin-off shows are a comfortable place for many comics at the top of their game it always held together with Sean Jimmy and Jon and even though they knew each other so well it was amazing how week after week they could come up with surprising funny content where they would surprise each other even Roisins failed intervention 'Jimmy's plowing on..' just makes this clip a piece of TV to watch and watch
It's so funny when you realise that when Jimmy genuinely laughs he doesn't make a noise. When he makes that silly laughing sound that everyone knows he is just laughing out of politeness.
RIP Sean. A brilliant thing about this bit is that behind the scenes Sean was the one who actually wanted to do this game while Jimmy and Jon thought it was stupid and on screen he's the one pretending to not want to play the game. He was a true master of entertainment...
Big smiles when I seen this pop up thanks boys😃👍 , I would give your reaction 👍👍 if I could, the shows called 8 out if 10 cats but to confuse things for you they took the basics of that and added to an already existing show about maths and spelling i know it sounds horrendous lol , but with Jimmy , Sean , and John it works well oh and abit of eye candy with a maths whizz lol
The carrot in a box episodes with Sean are priceless.....RIP Sean You guys should do a reaction video to Joe's poem with Sean Lock it's hilarious Useless Farm is another funny channel just mo
People play this at parties with kids, using chocolate, sweets or candy. Some adults don't put anything in either box! BÅstÅrds!! Merry Christmas, and Happy, Peaceful New Year. 🎅🎉 ☮
Jon Richardson is also a great stand up comedian. This was a great episode of 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. Check out the rest. Cheers from London! Love you both! Xx
hooray..you got here..no problem being late,this is funny every time..yup,there's a pt2 as I'm sure you're aware..good one chaps...peace,love and bananas :)
Sean is a comedic genius, his off the cuff dead pan comedy was the best, he's a gold mine for content, just like Pilkington, and a lot of British comedy if you've not seen it.
The name of the programme "8 out if 10 cats" refers to an old TV advert for Whiskas cat food, the tagine for which was " 8 out of 10 owners, who expressed a preference, said their cats prefer it"
You should watch him ready his story, Cyril the Screw! Or basically any of his 8 Out of 10 Cats best bits, especially the compilations with him and Miles Jupp. And while he’s not the ‘main’ person in the clip, Sean’s reaction to Joe Wilkinson’s poem on the same programme is hilarious!
And that ladies and gentlemen is how to bluff like a pro' I love Sean Lock, how can you not? The world doesn't feel quite as funny without him in it. And on that note I think I'll go seal clubbing.
Carrot in a box was funny as when I saw it on the show. You’ve got to react to - lost my teeth at Glastonbury from ‘would I lie to you’. Tears. 😂. You two are fun.
Great videos. As you two seem to enjoy some Rally cars in action, I would love if you two could check out and react to the classic from 1988 "Climb Dance - 1988 Pikes Peak Hill Climb"
I remember watching this first time it aired! I was crying so hard, absolute perfection from Sean! To actually fake it like he’d messed the game up was so quick it was, as Jon said, total genius! Don’t know if they ever played it again, I kind of hope they didn’t, as it means this is the only Carrot-in-a-box game they played. I never saw them do it again, myself, but I preferred the 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown more than the original game of 8ouTC. When they started doing Countdown they went to another level in my view. Sean was a total one-off. He was massively successful but at the same tine he was t as successful as I believe he should’ve been, given how funny he was. Such a sad loss. It’s the only time I’ve been brought to tears by somebody I didn’t know passing away. It was a massive shock, too - it was t publicised that he was very ill. Saw him on a few shows looking a bit poorly but had no clue he was so bad. Great guy.
COUNTDOWN is a mid-afternoon Letters & numbers game show. (a serious show) This 8 out of 10 cants is a satirical comedy version of it, shown each Friday evening.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this. Never gets old.
Yes!
Me too! I love Sean and was devastated when he passed. He is in the same league as Dave Allen.
Snap!!
Me and you both !.. crazy right!
I watch it every Christmas!
Lock has manipulated EVERYBODY from the very beginning: Jimmy, Jon, the audience, the viewers, you and me. Genius.
Thing is Sean played the game right but everyone thought he'd ruined it because he was THAT convincing. Genius.
There is lots of great outburst's off Sean Lock on this show 8 out of 10 Cats. RIP Sean thanks for the laughs.
Put perfectly. Thanks for the laughs. Perfect!
Why have you put an apostrophe in the word ‘outbursts’?
Also, come to think of it, ‘there ARE lots of great outbursts.’ Not, ‘there IS lots of great outbursts.’ Did you go to school? I think you need an education.

Sean Lock was and still is, one of the greatest UK comedians.
Monty Python, Benny Hill, Sean Lock, and some others
This is just the BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER, it just keeps on giving! Rest In Peace Sean Lock, you will ALWAYS be missed.😢😢
You’ll have to watch the second carrot in a box and then pay tribute by having your own carrot in a box between the pair of you.
Sean Lock was modern comedy legend. Gutted for his passing a few weeks ago. RIP sean. We will keep on watching you on youtube. Never gets old.
I think you’d enjoy Cats does Countdown and Would I Lie To You, panel shows like this are a great comedy staple in the UK
One of the greatest and funniest comedians ever....R.I.P Sean you absolute legend....gone but most certainly not forgotten
Watch again and see just how quick he was - he's absolutely brilliant! Very sad Sean's no longer with us. He was a real class act. I'll honour him by watching his UA-cam clips as long as UA-cam lasts, or I do.
Ahh the legendary Carrot in a Box.. How this still works so well is kinda amusing in itself.
The Tiger That Came For a Pint by Sean Lock.
Oh god...brilliant...the day that's actually published I'll buy it...
I was going to suggest this too! Funny as!
Jon is also really good here at playing the straight man. Sean's performance overshadows it, naturally, but Jon's a good comic.

Superb bluff from the Legend that is Sean Lock.
We're all lucky Sean used his evil genius for comedy and not for taking over the world. ;)

Great vid, I always find your vids that you watch are really quiet
"Sean Lock has no time for child actors" is a classic. He sits on the panel with James Cordan
That bit had me in stitches. Sean at his grumpy best.
I watch this clip at least weekly and it never gets any less funny
On big fat quiz he's gold
I never get tired of watching that one
This one!

Potentially the greatest moment in television history.
This one and the "potatoe gate" in Taskmaster with John Wilkinson.
Who knew potatoes and carrots would be the best tools for comedy gold? ;)
That is brilliant, It is better when you can hear it though, luckily I've seen it a dozen times before 😉

This was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV! Absolute genius. Can you imagine if he'd been a poker player? 👏
Yeah Sean vs Jon playing poker 🤣🤣🤣
Jon's chips would've been in the neatest pile.
No kidding guys, this show is spontaneous British humour at it's best and there is hours and hours of it.
Sean Lock was a genius. We miss you already. An absolutely brilliant piece of TV from a gem of a show.
RIP Sean you bloody genius, you will be missed
The best bits of Sean Lock and Miles Jupp are just stomach achingly funny.
Remember the Whelks?
thank you guysss sending love from england i really enjoyed this 💖💖💖💖
Carrot in the box 2.
Sean Lock is one of the comedians that has that special something. He will be so so missed.
I was lucky enough to watch Sean Lock live. Absolute legend. RIP 🙏
It's Sean's initial putting of the hand in the box, supposedly to grab the carrot, that seals it. Straight off.

Yeah, the best comedians are always really really sharp. You have to have brains to be this level of funny :)
Just keep watching 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown. He’s in so many and always hilarious.
If you ever need a little cheering up, Carrot in a Box and Joe Wilkinson's poem do it every time for me. 😊
We have already done those. Carrot in a box both parts

Sean Lock's death hit me super hard. One of the UK's best comedians left us far too soon. Sean Lock is to Britain what John Belushi is to the US.
Wish more Americans knew the comedy geniuses of Jon Richardson and the late great Sean Lock. I’ve never met a Texan beside myself who knew of them.
Carrot In A Box is legendary but Carrot In A Box 2 is even funnier... would love to see you react to that 😁
Big fat quiz is another show worth checking out if you like this.
The video "Sean Lock on the trial of Michael Jackson's Doctor" is pretty amazing...
Go for Carrot in a Box Part 2!!
So funny, you’ve got to react now to part 2!
You need to watch carrot in a box 2 now

Carrot in a box was funny as when I saw it on the show.
You’ve got to react to - lost my teeth at Glastonbury from ‘would I lie to you’. Tears. 😂.
