You just stumbled upon arguably the greatest Uk tv show ever . Blackadder is fantastic , series 2 - 4 are anyway. Series 1 , not so much ( in my opinion ) . This is from series 4 - Blackadder Goes Forth . This is my favourite series . You guys should definitely check out some Blackadder 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Series one deifinetly has a different, less refined feel but I'd emplore you to re-watch it. It definitely gets better the more times you watch it. A LOT of the jokes in series I e depend on the viewer having quite good knowledge of British history, beyond the elementary details so you often miss jokes the first or second time around.

This is probably the best and unique sitcoms ever produced. The premise is that you follow the same characters and their ancestors/descendants at different historical times. Each series is set in a different period of British history, beginning in 1485 and ending in 1917. The first series was called The Black Adder and was set in the fictional reign of "Richard IV". The second series, Blackadder II was set during the reign of Elizabeth I. Blackadder the Third was set during the late 18th and early 19th centuries in the reign of George III, and Blackadder Goes Forth was set in 1917 in the trenches of the Great War. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM. (series 1 not the best, but series 2 - 4 incredible!) everyone's favourite character is Baldrick.

I love all of the series of Blackadder, and conflicted by which is my favourite - the third, or go forth. But if you're going to watch go forth, please, please watch the whole series - it is only 6 episodes long - and record your reactions to the final episode. It is probably one of the most emotionally striking things you will ever watch, which you would never have imagined until you were 5 3/4 episodes in, and then BAM it hits you. A masterpiece of a series, possibly one of the few perfect shows out there.

He had sticks up his nose and underpants on his head in order to try and get sent back from the trenches at the front after hoping to be being classed as mad.
Hugh Laurie had a long acclaimed career as a comedic actor in the UK well before hitting the States to do House where many American viewers think he's American.
The Blackadder series set in several different time periods in history is a brilliant example of acerbic and sarcastic wit mainly delivered in lines from Rowan Atkinson.

This is possibly (only possibly as there are many contenders) the best British TV comedy show ever. There were 4 series each set in a different time in history but containing the same actors. When series 4 started (the one your clip is from), I had just started at York University. The shout went up "Blackadder!" and everyone rushed to the TV lounge. It was impossible to physically fit any more people in than managed to get in. (This was before online, constant repeats, etc - 1989 ). Blackadder series has a season in each time period from medieval up to WWI, the same families throw up similar characters in each time, often in different roles; Blackadder starts a minor noble, later becomes a servant, then an officer, etc.
Characters like Lord Flash-heart turn up unexpectedly, but are often the same as ever. There are actors turning up in minor roles all through history as well.
There's a sort of odd undercurrent of people making the same mistakes in many lives as well. Fun.
