  • This video is not sponsored. Ned Steinberger is an American creator of innovative musical instruments that teamed up with D'Addario once again to create a capo with an innovative design that can also accommodate a wider neck profile. The self-centering Cradle Capo centers behind the neck of the instrument automatically, assuring perfect tuning and intonation no matter where you are on the neck.
    Is it worth $70? You can find other capos for as cheap as $6, so why would the D'Addario NS Cradle Capo be right for you? Watch the video and let me know your thoughts.

    Synchronicity is real. I was looking at Capo's today, by the same maker!!! It was the one in the picture under the one you reviewed, with the round tension knob. I wanted to ask you about it and here you are. Glad I saw this video before the purchase. I like this one for all the reasons and benefits you mentioned. Even if it only lasted ten years it equals the price of one expensive coffee a year. As I don't buy expensive coffees, I could afford this capo, sweet :)
    I'll watch your other capo video again as a comparison.
    Woooaaah, what is this guitar Katie!!!??? When you played this beautiful sounding marvel, to check intonation, I actually thought you were singing quietly, then you said "I think I heard Angel's sing", Truth, I heard it too 😱 Your guitar actual sang, I heard something above the notes you played. I'm glad you said something because I was going to ask, what just happened there. Well this made my Tuesday complete (even though it's Wednesday as I write this) so technically you have made Wednesday even better! A moment like that has only happened to me once and it was like the music was flowing out of me just ahead of the notes I was playing. Now seeing/hearing you I understand what it means to be in the spirit when the spirit is in you. That was a God moment for all to experience when they see this video. I'm so happy to have found your YT channel Katie. If I may, I am blessed. A total Chariots of Fire sensation, got the good Lord feels, thank you God, thank you Katie. Peace Love & Joy

    Great review. I bought a G7 which said it eliminated tuning issues. It did not. and in fact they introduced another one a month after I bought it that is NOW the be all and end all of no tuning issue capos. I'm going this route now.

    Thanks for the demo.
    I have tried a number of capos and know the associated tuning issues well. D'Addario, Dunlop, Shubb, Kyser, Thalia, G7th, Planet Waves... Tried quite a few.
    I highly recommend trying a relatively unknown 2-edged capo called "Wingo wide" capo for acoustics, and that includes nylon strings, and even 12-strings, which can defeat almost any capo on the market.
    I also recommend trying the Dunlop DCV50C, which I understand is the capo design Johnny Cash used. Neither use a spring, and the adjustable tension helps keep the guitar in tune.
    They all have pros and cons. Some get in your way. Some slip when you bump them. Some are more versatile than others as neck radius varies. And some just pull the guitar out of tune as if that's what they were designed for. The capos with adjustable spring tension seem the most universally practical, except they don't always match the curvature of the neck. Every year there's a new one.
    I would like to try D'Addario NS Cradle Capo but the design doesn't justify the price.
    Especially because the VERY similar Paige capo came long before D'Addario, and still costs far less.

    Have you ever tried Shubb capos? They're around the $35 CAD price range where I'm from. I personally love the feel & look of them, and I find them very reliable overall as adjustable capos, compared to capos in a slightly lower price range. I have one for my nylon string classical guitar and one for my steel-string.
    Edit: just watched your capo guide video, and saw that you showed a Shubb capo in it!

      Yeah! Thanks for taking the time to watch both!!! I really appreciate it. Yes, shin capos are great, and I do love mine. The adjustable tension is always a plus. Have a great day 😀.

  • @jrcarchive1932
    @jrcarchive1932 3 роки тому

    The good thing with these capos is that it doesn't put the guitar outta tune. And you can set the tension, so that if you want to put it on the 7th fret for example, you can just screw the back up to the fret.

  • @christopherosta
    @christopherosta 5 років тому +1

    But what about the times when you'd need to move a capo instantly? For example, ending a song in one key and beginning the next song with a big open chord in a different key! And especially with an electric, when effects pedals are involved. There's no time to unscrew, move, carefully adjust, re-screw...

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  5 років тому

      It actually is really fast. Just a little twist and you can roll it to the next fret. Because it doesn’t take a lot of the tension, it’s not hard to move from feet to great. It’s probably not as fast as a layer, but it’s doable.

    It looks great and good quality, but as you say not everyone (including me) would purchase a 70$ capo. I bought a capo for 10€ 5 years ago and it has been working fine for me. If I get a new capo it will probably be a g7th but for me this one you're showing is not affordable 🙈🙈

    Well I actually bought the third capo that you showed on the amazon page the one that has 5 picks it’s huge on my ukulele and I don’t play guitar. But hey it’s always good to know about gear but then again I don’t play guitar so I don’t even know why I’m commenting xD

    Although I get the appeal of this capo, my motto is if it ain’t broken... I’m a Shubb user for 30 plus years. They are just fine at less than half the price. I have three Shubbs and all of them are 25 years old at least.

    I love Capos on salads......opps, sorry...wrong Capos......Anyway, yeah, I think $70 is worth it if it works great, lasts a long time and does not hurt or damage your expensive instrument (that would be the #1 thing for me)...........Some cheaper Capos, do that.............seems to be really well made and easy to use.........D'Addario does make really great things (strings).....good vid, again, "K"...........ok?.............:)

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  5 років тому

      I know what you mean. Sometimes the tension is so tight on the Amazon capos that they relain the instrument 💔. This one is really amazing and it maintains the tuning all the way up the neck, and that impressed me. It will be interesting to see if they lower the price in the future. Thanks for being here, Greg.

    Hi Katie. Thanks for the video. It's a definite "No" for me. I'm never going to be comfortable splashing $70 on a capo. It can get lost, stolen etc, and I'd far rather put that towards a new Uke.

    $70 is less than an effects pedal. If a player depends on a capo having one that stays in tune makes this worth it.

  • @dajomauler1365

    It seems to be curved. I would buy a flat one if I could find such a thing. And also it might be too short/narrow for a 52 mm nut.
    At least they could make a two-sided one. One side curved, the other side flat. You already can disconnect one end. If you could disconnect both ends and turn it over…
