Cool idea ! I use "Mother's Mag Polish" to really shine up my stainless steel guns...it works unbelievably well, no dremel required 🙂! Shines like no other with very little effort! I am sure it will work here. Gonna try it ! Awesome! Thank you for sharing this idea!

My Paige capos from the early 90s are my favorite capos that I have and make these new ones look and feel like the Chevy Cobalt of capos.

Great idea Jake..I love a good bargain...I bought a $20 capo, a $100 Dremel kit, tubing, and all the other stuff and saved $5.00 from buying that $150 gadget... Haha..Just kiddin'. Love your how-to videos, Jake. Also. love all your guitar solos on FB.

I have tried a bunch of capos over the years. I have a couple of Elliot capos for banjo and guitar. I also have a couple of Paige capos. The Elliot's are the nicest ones. They are finely crafted, precision made pieces. With that said I still occasionally use my Paige. They work pretty well, especially if you don't want to spend a fortune. I personally have not had a Paige break, rust , or wear out yet. I do keep lube one the threads. And years back I polished one up just like Jake. I gave my old one to a youngster at Church that needed a capo. So, I think ill buy another Paige to replace it. :>) I do wish the adjustment wheels were just a bit larger.

Good capos but the vinyl sleeves crack with age. What size tubing for DIY? 3/16"

Some banjo players remove the rubber tubing on the under arm of a Paige capo and replace it with a thin leather strip. They say they get a better grip on the neck and the capo doesn't slide sideways if bumped. Banjo players are always tinkering with their equipment. There are those who swear by the sound post under or just behind the bridge. They say it improves the tone/volume of their banjo. Just another continuing story in the saga of the banjo players and their instruments.

What kind of bit did you have in the Drexel, is it a polishing bit?

The rubber on mine dry rotted...lol. I finally got back into playing after an 18 year lay off and the first time back it just fell off in pieces. I was at a play rehearsal sitting in with the band...lol

What kind of oil did you use for the threads?

Rem oil would work great, just don't use too much.

I did this a few years ago to my Paige and if you take the black paint off the bar you will see a lot of RUST later on over time it’s cheap metal and it I’ll rust!

I just bought today a Paige original acoustic. Pure crap. Nothing like the original paige in this video. THEY MAKE DIFFERENT MODELS OF THE ORIGINAL PAIGE I GUESS. Very cheap felt for the cushion, very cheap clear plastic over the bar.
Anyone know where to buy the original Paige capo with Black tubing and rubber for the cushion let me know.

I’ve got a Paige similar to this one with the rubber padding that I would be willing to trade to the one with felt padding. I like the look of the newer ones and was wanting to try one. It doesn’t have the black tubing though, it has clear tubing, but you may be able to buy the black tubing directly from Paige. Let me know if you’d be interested.
