    The collection in the outbuildings is very well-curated. The colors inside the big house are a bit garish. Great info again. Enjoyed this.

    The vast majority of Maryland families that were established prior to 1860 would have fought for either Maryland Confederate units or joined Virginia units. The Maryland Union units would have been made up of mostly more recent Irish immigrants.

    There's nothing odd about a Marylander serving in the Confederacy. Certainly a Virginian would know that.
