    My favorite thing about the Scarecrow is that he's always trying to make his costume scarier. His first debut costume was like "ok the eyes are scary but this looks kinda silly" then his costume afterwards (the one seen here) is like "whoah haha that's more like it" then in The New Batman Adventures it's just like "whoah what the fuck is this allowed in a kid's show?"

      Scott Breon Agreed. The Joker is a very great villain. But there's just something about Jonathan Crane that is unbelievable. His tragic backstory, his understandable anger towards society, his desire to strategically harm others psychologically as opposed to simply beating them up, and his complete understanding of how powerful fear is. He's a Machiavellian mastermind with the greatest weapon of all in his holster: terror.

      Scarecrow was always my favorite villain because of how well he contrasted against Batman. Jokers personality contrasts against Batmans because the Jokers insane and inhuman and Batman wants order but the Scarecrow uses fear as his ally breaking his opponents to madness, ironic seeing the how Dark Knight's greatest Weapon IS FEAR. How humiliating would it be to be taken down by your most powerful ally? Plots involving Scarecrow are also more courage demanding, in Arkam Asylum Scarecrow uses his fear toxins to seduce Batman by saying " everyone you love is dead and you'll never see them again" now that's harsh, and it's always neat to see Batman overcome his greatest fear.

    Scarecrow actually is a martial artist...
    Abilities
    Chemistry: Jonathan Crane is a proficient chemist and has used this skill to develop his infamous "fear toxin".
    Intimidation: Using a variety of toxins that cause his victims to hallucinate that their phobias have come to life, the Scarecrow instills fear in all who see him.
    Martial Arts
    Violent Dancing: When forced to fight, Crane uses his own martial arts style he calls "violent dancing", which is based in part on the crane style of kung fu, and makes full use of his long arms and legs.
    Psychology: Jonathan Crane is an expert in the field of psychology, specifically the study of anxiety disorders. He is a walking textbook on the study of fear, and can recite the name and description of nearly every known phobia. He often demonstrates his intellectual prowess by analyzing his fellow patients at Arkham Asylum.

I mean if Batman can pull it of I would imagine a lot of the rouge gallery would attempt to become better at hand to Hand fighting just to contend with the caped crusader long enough to use their real plan. In scarecrows case I think it would make plenty of sense for him to look into martial arts given how much he had to deal with abuse in his younger years. I first became acquainted with the Batman's world when I played the game Arkham Asylum, and ever since then the Scarecrow has become my absolute favourite Batman character. :) I guess it's mostly my love for Halloween and scary things (:D), but otherwise, he has a really intriguing and fascinating personality, based on psychological tactics rather than simply being a brutish criminal who likes to kill people (and he can still hold his own in a fight, I especially love when they portray him using a scythe). :) That's probably another thing, he's not really a criminal, he's more of a scientist, and I love his rather intellectual way of speaking. And while I know that the Scarecrow is supposed to look scary, I really just appreciate his every incarnation, and I really loved him in the animated series, because he looked quite adorable, and his voice actor was just amazing. :)

I mean, the latter is possible, given the mention of this being a rather large payout, but just imagine Mr. Crane carrying that, and then being disappointed that he didn't get to use it yet, going home, bouyed of course by his money, but still, somewhat down because he brought a toy along and didn't get to play with it.

    • @Supahpowahnerd890
      @Supahpowahnerd890 10 років тому +17

      Interestingly enough, fight or flight response is actually very interesting from a neurological standpoint. Especially relating to how animals react to stress. Think about it though, if you can create enough hyperarousal the target can actually be forced to either flee, or they will literally stop trying to get away from the sheer stress of the situation.
      You can tell the victim in the video isn't really attempting to run away, fear has made them feel too helpless to actually attempt to fight.

    Interestingly enough, the adrenal gland is what controls excitement and fear, so Scarecrow changing the athletes’ excitement to fear does seem plausible if the chemicals he introduced to their bodies were able to alter the body’s adrenaline levels. Maybe this chemical overstimulates the adrenal gland the moment it starts producing adrenaline along with a bit of hallucinogenic effects to make the athletes act more in his favor. This could cause even the slightest bit of fear be exacerbated similar to a house filled with gas exploding from a small spark.
