Yes shareholders own a piece of the company but they have no power over the decisions made by the ceo and the board of directors. Even if you own a controlling share of the company you dont go and ask the CEO what to do. And companies are still beholden to the laws of the country they are affiliated with. Public or not no one can stop a secret meeting between the ceo and the government when national security interests are involved. Yes shareholders own a piece of the company but they have no power over the decisions made by the ceo and the board of directors. Even if you own a controlling share of the company you dont go and ask the CEO what to do. And companies are still beholden to the laws of the country they are affiliated with. Public or not no one can stop a secret meeting between the ceo and the government when national security interests are involved. Companies which are building stuff in ur countries are state-owned corporations, they act as direct tools of communist govt, they are doing these bcoz our govt sees there are a lot of potential political, economic benefits later on. For the Economic part ,We are helping u bcoz we know what our position is in the global division of labor, our products need a market to sell and they wonderfully fit the African markets which are very sensitive to the price and have a relative better tolerance of quality. For the political part. Have you heard of the saying "The politics is decided by economy."
