  • This week's DW Business Special takes a closer look at China's attempts to save its floundering real estate market, and asks what happened to the explosive growth the world's second-largest economy had gotten used to enjoying. George Magnus from Oxford University's China Centre explains why he's not hopeful about Beijing's plan to turn things around.

Just a note, I love how they left the production problems in the video instead of editing them out. It shows a very good working environment and how everyone's human. It was probably unintentional and might be taken out when they notice it, but I kind of like seeing them have connectivity issues and that background clicking and whatnot. Love DW! :-)

The very real and biggest problem they don't talk about .
Eventually the biggest developed nations will run out of everything .
( China is just the best worst example here )
With the destruction of the natural world increasing , we'll all run into that same direction : our end .
When will economists acknowledge that we live in the Age of Mass Extinction of not only Plant and Animal Species , but of our Human race as well and an economic race to the bottom ??
Without nature and wildlife we cannot survive .
      ( where's that in any economy model ?? )
Never - ending " growth " is an un- sustainable model , in any way .
We need to find a new ecology - based economic model that puts us 3rd : 1st nature , 2nd wildlife .
We need to consume less .
We need basics , not more high - tech .
      Nobody educated , learned , " expert " , talks about that .
We suffer , crash because we don't learn or look ahead featuring in all implications ,
instead of switching to adapt while we still could .
Nothing in these DW films shows the real consequences , just like these investments , Wallstreet only show the money aspect ever .
( = exploit nature / take habitats away / create all these problems that we now have )
What is needed is responsible living that would start with ZERO trash , sustainable farming , sustainable manufacturing .
We can survive better or only?? without any more charts that only measure progress in money terms .
( if we all have local food to eat and live sustainably , we won't suffer from any financial recession
or crash , because it won't really matter // we should focus on local and sustainable before
anything else // what will save us is definitely not robots or high - tech , but some steps back in
time = basics , plain and simple )
We need a simple , sustainable every- day personal life- style .
Responsibility , awareness of all we do .

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

Those finished building with poor construction quality or half finished apartments sold to ordinary citizens need to be completed... get more loan 3. Foreign capital flight is gaining momentum... it's not something you can stop on its tracks, same goes with factories moving elsewhere 4. I live in China. If you're poor it's tough. If you're rich but completely alone it's also tough. Everyone else has friends, a wife, etc. They buy food and happily consume it at home. I buy food and I hate spending all day every day at home by myself. It used to be fun to be part of a vibrant society, traditions, part of humanity. Now you're not part of anything, you're all living in anonymous tall towers built 3 years ago, they demolished all meaning to life.

If the Chinese economy suddenly becomes very bad for various reasons, countries such as Germany and other countries that have invested heavily in China will also be hit very hard. Germany has invested far too much in China and far too little elsewhere. And if it goes wrong, it will spread like wildfire to many countries in Europe. Germany completely overlooks that. The Western countries must be much better at investing in other countries, and there are plenty of opportunities than China. Perhaps there are some countries that are allowed to invest more in China than others because it has a Chinese interest. For example, countries that have more power than other countries, which China can later have an influence on, when they are caught in the Chinese network.
