The reason I made this video was because I had a lot of people contact me after they watched my Nikon D850 Bird and Wildlife Focus Settings video and were concerned they couldn’t use autofocus in live view anymore. I hope this video helps clarify things. I know a lot of D850 owners out there already know this… but there are those who are still learning or have just purchased a D850 and don’t know. Another advantage of focusing in live view with the shutter button is if you’re holding a larger heavy lens handheld (eg. Nikon 200-500mm F5.6) you don’t have to take your hand off the lens or D850 grip to touch the LCD screen to focus before taking a photo or recording video 🤙📸
Thank you soooooooo much. Flip, i could not understand why camera do not focus in live view. Was using back button only, never crossed my mind to try with shutter focus.. finally solved for me..
I have noticed as I peruse various D850 videos, that you have the clearest and easiest to follow instructions. Thank you so much for the time you invest to help others.
Thanks for focusing(pun) on this. Somehow I accidentally came upon this by activating the shutter focus feature from off. I shoot with back button fousing using the pv button. If you read this comment I also can do my back button focusing and shutter AF when I activate the shutter AF to on. How's that possible to do both?
Another thumbs up from me, just got my new D850 after selling the D810. It's an incredible camera and I can't wait to get on our next trip out West to give it a workout. I really appreciate your D850 content. Keep safe, Carl / Fraser Coast
Thanks for watching. Yes, it can touch and take a photo but I don’t use that, just a personal preference. I use touch screen in landscape photography then add filters etc then take the shot via shutter release cable 🤙🙏

You are not going to believe what I just bought.
@@PhilThachwell, I’m guessing it’s either a D850 or a Z8
@@adrianalfordphotography D850 with about 10,000 clicks on it and 16-35 f/4 all for just over the price of a 14-30 f/4 Z. 😎
@@PhilThach that’s awesome Phil👍📸

I was wondering can the small black focus block you see in the viewfinder be changed to green?

In South Africa the cost of a new 850 is around Australian Dollars 5400. A good used is As Dollar 3030

Adrian, good tip. I usually do the touch screen focus feature, in fact you can select it to do just focus or focus and shoot.
