It's so exciting to see these in use! I personally would only buy red orange and yellow, bc I only go through a lot of it bc of how transparent it usually is. But holy cannoli that yellow!
i’m genuinely curious: is the bottle container a pro or a con to the paint? with tubes you can squeeze out the paint, and i do wonder if dipping the brush/pouring out the paint from the bottle would be better or not.
I would personally say it's a con overall. The pro being that they look very cute and fit the potion brand but when you start to get to the end it is difficult to get every last bit of paint. However you coulr put a little bit of water in at the end and then you have some really nice acrylic washes ready to go too.
If I was looking for a good quality paint, I would go for the Stuart Semple ones. Compared to the most expensive Golden acrylics, these are not too bad. And their flatter and way more matt, so in most cases that would sell them to me. In fact, I have just searched the 118ml Golden acrylics SoFlat, and most of them are semi opaque, only the violet I saw was opaque! So, if I needed a good depth of colour, with good opacity then Stuart Semples would be the ones I would go for. 'Nuff said!
Hi again, this popped up so had to watch. 😁 I looked them up last night when watching your other video, they cost a small fortune but looked like they are worth it. Should only need RBY/W&B to make any color and shade with a high end paint like that. I would love it if you did all the tests again to see how well all the paints work with gel plate monoprinting.
Protip: The smell might not be fresh out of the bottle but you may get it as the paint is drying on the paper. This is at least my experience with Black 3.0 and Super Base.
Anthony, have you tried Amsterdam paints? They are a lovely quality, highly pigmented acrylic paint and so far, I have found them to be REALLY smooth. Pullinger’s have most colours priced at £3.20/120ml tube or £4.50 for the neons and pearls. Pebeo studio acrylics are also nice and have some great neons and iridescents. I buy Pebeo at Pullinger’s too, or Hobbycraft when they’re on sale at £2.00/100ml tube instead of £4.00.
Anthony Crammen definitely try them. They’re higher quality than Daler Rowney and less expensive at Pullinger’s than you’re paying for yours if I remember rightly from your video.
that's a really good point about it being yellow paint sented something edible. I know it says they are not for kids but I bet some people have children in the house and the colour is very child appealing.
wait a minute, im looking into getting these paints and I don't know if i want to deal with paint drying in a bottle when i don't use it since its not air tight.
If you do miniatures you should look into the liquid mirror by the same company. It's a nice small bottle but a little goes a long long way and it's amazing for miniatures
i feel like he had to add a novelty element because it's his brand, but for me, the fragrance actually detracts from the product. Sometimes paint just needs to be paint. what happens when you use them all together do you end up with a cacophony of fragrances?
It's definitely a novelty and something different, I've used them for a while now and find that the scents fade with time and aren't too overpowering or anything, they just tend to have a hint of 'sweetness'.
There's actually a reason why they're scented. Stuart Semple originally created the Pinkest Pink as a reaction to Anish Kapoor buying the right to use Vantablack (which used to be the blackest black you could find), and made it illegal for Anish Kapoor to buy that pink pigment. Anish Kapoor found it anyway and posted a photo of his middle finger dipped in that pigment powder. Stuart Semple then decided to change the formula for the Pinkest Pink to make it even more saturated, and decided to sell it as a ready-to-use paint instead of a pigment powder. He also discovered that Anish Kapoor utterly dislikes strawberries. That's the reason why the pink paint is strawberry scented and the opening of the bottle is so small (you can't stick a finger in it). Then Stuart Semple developed the other paints as well and basically had to add a scent to them as well, since the first one was scented.
Wow, the prices have almost doubled now since you bought these, I've been wanting these for a while now and when I looked at them the first time they were 109$ but now they're 130$ and I know they're lovely paints but still...the bottles seem so small idk if it is worth it anymore.
For artist/professional quality paints like Culture Hustle cadmiums, that is the only pigment in them. Cadmium HUE paints are less toxic blends that imitate them. Real cadmium pigments visually pop more and are very lightfast, but have safety and disposal requirements.
Very helpful, thank you. However, not helpful for my wallet because now I want even more colors than what I already had in my cart! I only came here to see what the orange looked like lol!
8/28/2021 USA Grandpa Bill: CORRECTION Anthony Crammen: Sir, the cost of these heavily pigmented paints is much less than what they would cost if developed by the corporations. You will expect to buy these paints in the same range of cost as Old Holland or Michael Harding. I want to be clear about this. What Stuart Semple has done is bring to market high-dollar paints for low dollars. Make no mistake about it it. To say it is good value for the money you spend is true, but far more true than you acknowledge. I want us all to remember that Stuart is bringing these to all artists around the globe in protest against Kapoor and corporations who claim the sunlight of God in their own names.
Don’t waste your time or money! Small company with high prices and crappy customer service! There’s better quality paints and prices out there! Golden is my choice!
Yep! Never heard of it. I have an undergraduate degree in fine art and a masters degree in fine art specializing in sculpture and installation. I'm sure I know plenty of things that yourself/others won't know 😁

light-fast means, that the colors wont fade in time by light / sunlight ;-}
Haha yeah I looked it up afterwards, makes sense! And is obviously a good thing! 🙂
Just received this set for my birthday. Thank you for your video...useful and entertaining x
Ah no problem! Hope you enjoy your paints! They're really great! 😁
Nephew and I watched and really liked the comparisons made in your Video...Loved the chainsaw too...LOL
Haha glad you both enjoyed it 😊
I just love the fact their called potion... giving me harry potter vibes
Same! The design is super cute! 😁
Wow the purple was incredibly different! Plus I love your reviews! You’re so much fun to watch
Ah thanks Amy!! 😁😁😁😁

Oh the yellow is sooo nice! It doesn't do it justice on camera, really saturated!!
and the smell...that yummy yummy smell!
This is a great review! Its an absolute crime your channel has such few views
Thanks Alexandra! Glad you enjoyed the video! Haha! I'm a tiny fish in a giant pond!! 😅

They're well worth the money Carly! Best paints I've ever had my hands on! 😁😁

This is literally watching paint dry
It is indeed! But did you enjoy it? 😅
Great review. I just love watching your reviews......you have the same sense of humor as I do......sick! lolol
Ah thanks BJ! Haha I do indeed! 😁😁😁
Yay I’ve been looking for a review on these!
Glad I could help! They're really great paints, still use them today!
@@AnthonyCrammen I only just discovered them and I’m salivating lol

Great review
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
These look great, but dont go looking into price per ml in miniature paints they can be highway robbery. Good video man great stuff.
I still use them today! Really great paints but yeah can be a little on the pricey side, totally worth it though!! And thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

Oh I didn't realise they had gone up. I still think they're worth it though! Still some of my favourite acrylic paints!
Damn, plot twist at 10:53, I did not see that coming...

Can you or someone (anyone, please) do a video on how the colors mix with each other?? Do they maintain vibrancy when mixed?? Or do they get muddy.
They just mix like regular acrylic paints do, still bright and vibrant unless you obviously add black or brown to them or something.
@@AnthonyCrammen hey! Thanks for the fast reply
No problem! 🙂
Thank you for this.

6:15 Piece of silicone? Like those old person aids for opening jars?
Someone who sounds like mannish sapoor is banned from these paints lol
Anthony, who was the tutor who used the lead? just out of curiosity.
It was Ines if you remember her? She taught sculpture for a bit. Think she was Spanish?
Yeah it's coming back to me now, I rememberber her,
