I didn’t realize it at the first, but the biggest problem with this was not being able to having over 4 soldiers in a mission die to no training center… that makes this far rougher than expected!
Me, having problems with REGULAR run with everything at my disposal want to throw away my keyboard and motivation to play this type of games. This was INSANE!

@@InsaneFrame Shivs are the units, so that's impossible I guess But I've another impossible-like challenge! Can you beat the game without any cups of tea?
I'm confused. You aren't forced to promote rookies. And Stat buffs aren't given until you promote them. So wouldn't you be able to just use the same rookies without promoting them? That would save you alot of money and make the starting game easier
So when they are promoted they automatically gain the rank as you can see by their equipment so i dismissed them before missions The simplest answer is to rotate new recruits in to not break the rules!
In Enemy Unknown rookies are forcibly promoted to a class on the mission end screen. In XCOM2 you can do that if I remember right. Unless you scroll through the barracks with the arrow bottons, which does auto-promote them for some reason.
OK. so... I've played enough XCOM to know. run questions. 1.) SHIV aren't allowed? 2.) can you win a promoted soldier from a mission to get the OTS for squad size up? 3.) what difficulty are we playing on, you dont appear to be ironman since you took several hours for gangplank. 3 HP on the thin men, means 'normal difficulty no ironman? see cuz when i think XCOM I thing Classic Ironman. yer allowing items, like grenades but not items like shivs? didn't lose any countries, as you shouldn't on normal if you aren't losing any missions. you were not promoting your rookies? you can;t just not promote them? you needed to buy more? again, confused by the specific criteria of this challenge.
1) no shivs allowed rookies only 2) Soldiers are automatically promoted to squaddies as they get a class assigned 3) Normal difficulty no ironman but i reload from the start of the mission to keep it fair The challenge was using rookies only so equipment is allowed but i played it on normal as that was difficult enough and gives the solid experience
All those dismissed squaddies must be how the aliens got so many Advent Officers in XCOM 2.
