Happy belated birthday! I was looking for the non touristy beaches! That looks so tranquil and relaxing ❤ glad you were able to bring in your birthday in such a memorable way! When we were there we found an Airbnb that was built up around a cenote. I loved the natural beauty they had perserved! Playa definitely had a more lush jungle vibe. I did go into the jungles a bit when we took a day trip to the Tulum & Coba Ruins. We had the time of our lives exploring Quintana Roo. I want to live there. It's very different from life in Upstate NY. I love home, but that's refreshingly different in a invigorating way. It's not what people think.
Yeah, there are a couple that the locals/expats go to that are more tranquil. No hotels and beach clubs so there is a lot more sand and open space to sit out and lay out. That hotel by the cenote sounds amazing. Was it around Calle 38? Quintana Roo is absolutely beautiful and the cenotes are so refreshing. I hope you'll be able to call it home one day. I have spent some time upstate and its a different world haha It's a nice escape from the city for a couple days but nothing can beat that beach/island vibes in QRO.
