Thanks for the great tips Antonio, but there is something I disagree.
In my opinion do not apply shoe cream with a brush, it wastes to much cream and the leather won't absorb it all. Do it with a cloth around you fingers which doesn't pick up as much cream so you waste less and you can push it in to the leather easier which helps with absorption.

Antonio, great tips, here's one for you. I am a seismologist with the USGS for the past 39-years, and to relax from the stress of all the from travel and being in foreign countries for an extended period about 20 years ago, I started detailing cars to rest. So about seven years ago, I begin to research and go into the ceramic coating on vehicles instead of wax. I went and got certified on several different brands of ceramic coat and one in particular, Ceramic Pro. About 2-years ago, I start to airbrush the coating on all my new leather shoes in averaged $400 per pair, and it solved all my problems from, salt, water stains, and searches. You should look into it, and if you want, just reach out to me, I like to have a discussion with you about it. You might even have a video on it. WT

alcohol and acetone 1:1 or 1:0.5 ratio...color will fade or turn...replenish with stain polishes or creams with multiple coats of leather lotion. brush and buff with 100% horse hair products.

My biggest problem, unfortunately, are stains on the ankles of shoes with a sole darker than the upper. The attrition causes the sole paint to rub off on the upper, and it's hell to come off

test the method on non visible part, that way if it darkens the leather... - wait a minute. so, if I have tan shoes and want them darker, should I "wash" them with 70% alcohol or white vinegar and that'd do the job???
