The Shell Cordovan owner has to be ecstatic! He traded garbage and $485.00 and got in return a $850.00 pair of shoes that are 99% as good as new!! Sign me up!! The other shoe while beautifully down may not reflect the same savings but you've restored the uppers from the grave, and rebuilt with a sole and heel that will be tougher and give longer service than a brand new pair!! Amazing job Steve and thanks for the lesson!!

Steve, you may not know how much your video's are appreciated in these very hard times. It takes my mind off the current pandemic for 20 minutes. I can sit in my chair and not think about anything else for just a little while and watch you bring back 2 pairs of shoes from the edge of the trash. Thank you for persevering and offering some respite. Hammertime! May you and yours be safe and healthy.

Awsome job Steve, when I was in high school I was in the JROTC program and we had problems with the salt build up but never realized that rain water could be the cause, we thought it was our styles and techniques in shinning our shoes and boy did we have some weird concoctions. You're doing a great job in educating everyone in proper shoe care and I wish I had this video 40 years ago, LOL. After 6 years in the USMC I to this day do my spit shine ritual with kiwi and water instead of spit and get that 12 inch ruler mirror shine. Thank you for sharing and caring for all us viewers. God bless.

I especially liked this project. I got into watching shoe repair videos like yours to learn about leather and how to take care of my leather golf shoes. You can imagine the stuff golfers walk through: wet grass in the morning, all the pesticides and chemicals used, etc. So far I have avoided the need for a Swedish bath, but that is an interesting process I may want to try someday.

Steve, loved the video. So, a few years ago I ruined a pair of brown Allen Edmonds Cornwallis by walking through some salty snow/slush. I was devastated! I happened upon your original video of restoring water damaged uppers and went through EVERY step. It did the job. The stains were gone. But then I made a mistake and used a shoe leather dye and literally painted it on. It looked horrible. And to make matters worse, upon flexing, the dye started to peel off. Anyway, I let be for almost 3 years. A few days ago, I stripped off the dye/paint with some brake cleaner and applied some Saphir renovator, brown shoe polish and wax. Man, did it bring back the colour and the shoes look great. Thank you for your tips on how to restore the water damage. I will probably have them recrafted by a local cobbler and get new soles.

I think you sold yourself short with how you described the outcomes here...BIG TIME...those Alden shells look amazing, and the whole color scheme on them between the uppers and soles is eye candy. Plus, if those AE's didn't have any of the slight wrinkles in them from wear, I'd have thought they were brand new out of the box! Continue to stay safe and healthy during this time, and thanks for the great content!

Hello Steve, I was born in Toronto and walked through tons of salty slush. I thought my shoes were ruined but a friend told me to apply vinegar by wiping a vinegar soaked rag onto the salt stains and within five minutes the salt stains were gone. Well maybe half an hours but it works.

and yet here we are one year later, because the Pandemic is not being eradicated due to people no doing the vaccine, new mutations and variants are growing and WILL continue forever, as long as the virus is left to multiply. Numbers are peaking higher than that of a year ago. Incredible.
For anti-vaxxers. I am so thankful scientists developed vaccines for: Tuberculosis, Smallpox, Measles, Mumps, Polio, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis, Diphtheria, Chickenpox, Pneumococcal Disease, just to name a few.
I'll betcha, some of these you've never heard of. RIGHT!!
Why? Because the world didn't want loved ones dying and agreed to get vaccinated when the good scientists worked so hard to create them!!!!!!!!
Much of these have been wiped out.
But in the old days, millions were crippled, paralyzed and died from these diseases.
We will have Covid 19 and its many mutated friends as long as people make this thing political.
      Jesus Christ people!
      Come on!!!
      PS
I didn't bring up vaccines on this video. I am responding to the vlogger and Internet Police.
Thank you everyone for being patient and unselfish to help others stay alive!!

I have a pair of black leather boots that I wore in 4 inches of wet slushy snow while pushing a legless man in a wheelchair across a salt-treated parking lot. (It’s a long story.)This caused a huge white salt residue stain around both boots. I immediately went home and cleaned them with white vinegar. Then conditioned and polished them. That was twenty years ago and they still look as good as new. My dad taught me how to take care of my shoes. I used to polish his shoes every Saturday night so that they would be ready for Sunday morning church.

Interesting. I have worked on several uppers that had water and salt stains and I just stripped the waxes with Renomat, used Saphir Salt Stain formula on the water stains, after dried, Cleaned with Saddle Soap, then when dried I used Saphir Conditioner and let soak and dry for 2-3 days and done. Back to new. But I love watching how others approach things differently as one never knows when they will come across a scenario where the formula they normally use, doesn't work. Just another alternative approach to accomplishing the same thing.
