@@Gh3ttoboy honestly gregtech doesn't even compare to py, prob only like 400 hours or so, maybe if you go gregtech new horizons but thats its own beast
Alternate ending As the spaceship reaches higher and higher speeds, the screen fades to black. Calming, heroic music begins to play as vision slowly returns. A friendly, concerned voice speaks out...."Hey, you. You're finally awake."
I don't really do comment reviews of series, but this one stood out so much that I felt it was necesary. Total score: 12/10. I used to watch Zisteau years ago in middle school - mostly the collab Terraria & other stuff with Etho. I loved their dynamic but I never considered checking out Zisteau's solo videos. A huge mistake on my part. This year I've really gotten into Factorio & Gregtech videos. I love huge factory games conceptually, but lack the time, energy, & mental capacity to play them myself. I tend to watch a lot of smaller channels, in addition to creators like Neurotic Goose, DoshDoshington, & DocJade, who have been my standout favorites. The main thing these channels have in common is a lack of live commentary & drawn out planning, at the cost of inconsistent uploads. The high quality editing & post-recorded narration, often filled with self-deprecating humor, really makes them super entertaining & stimulating to watch - they make my brain work. Watching these creators, especially Dosh & Goose, feels like watching a professional engineer struggle through a series of problems, sometimes taking shortcuts or loopholes along the way for sanity's sake. Or sometimes, in the case of challenge runs, choosing the least sanity-inducing options on purpose. Watching Zisteau is a whole new level, an evolution of that kind of gameplay. Instead of watching a single veteran engineer struggle, I feel like I'm watching a very well presented report given by a spokesperson/leader of a team of tight-knit engineers. The amount of preparation done beforehand in streams really shows, & the editing skills, referenes, & humor is leagues above the rest. Don't get me wrong, I still love the other creators & will continue to watch them, but Zisteau has taken the top spot for me. I'd also like to add that the roleplay & retro references really elevated that experience further for me & always made me smile. Factorio already has that retro vibe, ao these fit right in. DOS & Arcade games are before my time, but remain a personal hobby/interest of mine, so it's super cool to see that incorporated. All in all, I should really give this playthrough a final score of SPACE/10. Someday I'm going to binge it again, but not before I binge so many more series on this channel (not just Factorio). I only wish I had spare money to contribute - I know youtube pays awful, & the amount of work that went into this series must have been massively expensive in time & effort. Thank you so much, & I can't wait for an eventual return.
I got a distinct feeling that the last starch was not as enjoyable as the beginning. But then again, I might be projecting my experience with SE, after 20th temple I just gave up and went home :)
No you are correct. Arcospheres really soured my opinion of the modpack but I was having fun again at the end after I didn't need to think about them anymore.
@@Zisteau I think the arcospheres are a cool idea in theory, but 8 polarities is too many, especially since there’s no ramp up in complexity and it just drops you into the deep end
@@greenyxd7298 Depends on your goal of the game. Arco spheres really got me too. I spent about 90% more time not playing the game than playing the game in relation to archospheres. The same goes for the "stargate" ending. You don't play the game with those two features. I had a shit ton of fun trying to make a sub 3k integrity victory ship. I had a ton of fun automating naq. I even had fun collecting arcospheres. But those spheres weren't logistics....it wasn't factorio.
Maybe one day when the stars align the spaceship will land on a little cuboid planet and rescue a hallucinating Zombie Pigman, returning to blocks and mines and crafts. A man can dream... A man can dream...
Final reminder that Zisteau is using the mod version 0.5 - setups likely will have problems/not work if used with mod version 0.6+. Mods used and all published blueprints related to this series are in the video description.
Congratulations on finishing Space Exploration! Pretty intense. Your videos are always enjoyable and I hope you bring us along on the next game you embark on.
the mechanics on spaceship engine efficiency is that, behind the center tile(s) of an engine, you need to have no obstructions. Thus, you *can* stagger engines into two rows by having the upper row's exhaust pass between the lower row's engines, but that is it. You also can redirect a ship mid flight by giving it a new target from within, using for example the distance signal.
I love the intro. Watching entire planets worth of industries spring up and immediately get to work, all the equipment that already exists springing into action. 10/10
Been watching you since mindcrack days. You've evolved your content at the same rate I've evolved through gaming. Thanks for being there for me to watch for over a decade :)
Awesome video conclusion to an amazing series. Thank you so much for taking us along on this ride and I hope you come back to Factorio for another round soon. Thanks Zisteau
This was a great series. Really enjoyed going through it! For those looking for the other ending which uses the pyramid puzzle, I would watch the doshdoshington video. Also very well edited
I had an idea for an entirely nomadic (never visit same surface twice) playthrough of Space Exploration using Space Factorissimo. With the build being you mine out an entire planet for resources and store everything in chests and put your ground factory building inside a gravtech building so you only need 1 rocket launch for an entire planet's worth of resources. I don't know feasible this challenge is though. Props to anyone who can beat the game.
I don't know why but for so long the other explanations about the recipes for science would often leave my memory as soon as it comes like a passing wind, which means I had to repeatedly seek back a few seconds to not miss the point, but the explanation about bowling ball inversion and conversion is really easy to follow.
Great work on the series. Mostly I appreciate that since you posted this playthrough, I don't have play SE to the end anymore. Looks like I gave up just before the really tedious parts started...
Great work and great series! Nice job figuring out the arcosphere logic. I never could -- I ended up essentially making circuits calculate a "score" based on the relative imballance of running the recipie vs idling which worked OK, but not nearly as elegant. Sad to see you never peeked into the anomaly, lots of spaceship shortcuts to be had using it.
Loved the series from start to end. Absolute top tier entertainment, and loved rewatching the VODs as well. Was wondering if you are planning to make a retrospective video?
For a moment there I thought it would just be a nonstop montage of builder bots assembling space bases for the duration of the video. Just as I made peace with that idea, the actual video started and now I don't know how to feel
It is always super interesting seeing other solutions for arcospheres. I am using the much much simpler method of just counting the number of the two inputs and the number of the two outputs and enabling inserters to pull from one central warehouse with all the spheres in it. I do a similar thing but with bots for the 4-4 polarizing things
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable playthrough and all the energy and inspiration you bring to the games you show us! Your solution to the arcospheres is really elegant, I'm impressed. A bit sad about that singular machine that's not affected by beacons, seems like a mod error to me...
For everyone who want to play the mod: For the t4 Spaceships cards. You can just turn the spaceship around in Space when you have a specifi amount of the Datacards. There is no need to travel all the way( its takes a shit tone of time) to the destination.
Selfishly, I wish Zisteau would do a vanilla let’s play - embedded in my mind is the peak of MindCrack and Zisteau and my imagination runs wild thinking about what he’d build in the current version of Minecraft. Totally a selfish hope/dream - while in reality I hope Zisteau is just happy with his life.
And there goes the end to another masterpiece of storytelling
Congrats:) What a ride
So when are you gonna try this?? :)
I love seeing you here!
Now that the 500 hour Space exploration is over time for the 800 hour Pyannadons
I feel like Py would break Z, not that I would not enjoy watching that lol.
800? you mean you only want him to get to red belts?
800 hrs? I am not even halfway with 650+ hrs.
Py is the gregtech of factorio, if you go the full suite version
@@Gh3ttoboy honestly gregtech doesn't even compare to py, prob only like 400 hours or so, maybe if you go gregtech new horizons but thats its own beast
The temple puzzle took me six days, a tonne of paper and way too much coffee to solve. I think you made the right choice.
What was the message at the end?
@@Gfbackflip I don't know if it has changed since, but all I got was the usual Factorio end dialog with kill stats.
