This Civic has been my car since 1998. It was my very first brand new car back then and I was so proud of it. Over the years, it has served as my work car, family car, car audio competition car, and even made it onto the pages of Car Audio and Electronics magazine. I have so many memories with this car, including when my son, who is now all grown up with a beard and his own child, came home in it. Unfortunately, it was stolen many years ago and completely stripped down. They took everything, from the wires to the seats, and even replaced the suspension with firewood logs. It was heartbreaking to see it in such a state.
But I didn't give up on it. I decided to rebuild it and got about halfway through the process. I managed to get it running again, put in custom seats, and even walled it off. It was a slow project, but I worked on it whenever I had the time. However, as the years went by, my interest started to fade. I found myself more focused on Mokes 72 Cutlass, which you can check out on my channel. I completely lost interest in the Honda and left it untouched for years, except for occasionally playing around with the perfectly working audio system.
Unfortunately, about three years ago, it was broken into while parked in the side yard of my shop. The thieves took the Alpine double din, but luckily, my security cameras caught them in the act. Since then, I covered up the car and let it sit, slowly deteriorating.
Now, I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with this car. One thing I know for sure is that I will be removing the audio system. I might turn it into a decent little lowered car with a small system, or perhaps go bigger and better with it. Only time will tell. For now, I appreciate you watching, if you did!

Sorry about the fluctuating voices, this new setup I have is real nice but it is also very directional (the mic) because I am tired of picking up so much shop noise while filming. I am not used to it and caught myself not speaking into the right area of the mic a few times. Also, it is a remote setup so a few times I was filming I forgot I didn't even have the new mic actually on me DUHHH...then there are some settings I need to work on. I didn't know how this was going to sound till I got home behind my computer for editing. I know what I need to do to make this better next time. Bear with me! :) thanks for watching if you did!
All good mane. I will say, it kinda is weird not hearing the machines running. Almost feels like the video is incomplete without a buzz and a whizz, with some music going. I feel ya though. Your channel, your choice, but I don't mind the machines going. Feels genuine with the sounds of work going on. Still look forward to the change. Salute!!!!
Brotha that enclosure is insane can't believe it held up after 15 years of sitting
I would slap some bigger better subs in it and keep it bro. This car brings back UA-cam before UA-cam even started getting big lol.
Man King Bass I finally finally snagged one of your AMM-1 from Big Jeff's. I've wanted one for what 10 years now lol. You've had them for quite some time now. But yeah just wanted say thank you for designing/making it. A total bassheads dream not crunching math and knowing it's still gonna be incorrect due to rise and all. I really look forward to testing it out with the new system after I get it installed!
I wana see some vibe black death 18 in that car
Man, the look on your face before you took them out says it all.
Memories brother, Memories 👍👍👍
That wall is so well built it would be a shame to tear it apart.
Some Gately 18s would be sick.
Keeping the wall would be my vote
Keep the enclosure 🤙🏼
The civics iconic! I say keep the old girl alive and update the system.
UPGRADE. Ain't no sense ripping out a perfectly good wall on a car like that. It can be your bridge from younger you to now you to future you. Car is a keeper.
Definitely bring it back to life new batteries new amps some new subs and let it rock some new door panels and a paint job and let her keep killing it 💯💯💯
Fresh batteries.. Upgrade the wiring.... Put The stuff right back in it.... Cause there ain't nothing wrong with this stuff... Make it slap...... Get the car painted.... Roll with it
Get it wrapped it’s good to go
I’d give it a refresh, with new components. But keep the old school vibe. The car is like a time capsule for beat.
And there he goes just like a Mad Scientist!
Same enclosure just update it with the latest. Keep it pushing
Put new 18” sub in and keep the wall. That’s your first ride, keep it.
Yo steve I remember watching the build at like 15-16 years old man. You came a long way you know you gotta go big on it again. That’s your first car dude. Hope to see a new build on the Honda for old time sake for one of your long time fans and subscribers proud of you Steve keep killing it
It's not my first car. That is probably my 10th car. But it was my first NEW car from a dealership back in 98. Thanks man!! :)
Damn I remember the civic build from a long time ago. Thing is still lookin clean for not being used.
I don't know man, I personally love the classic style build this was, one of those cars that actually gets driven with a pretty big system in it you hear beating down the street, not an extreme SPL build, but still pretty big! Those RE 18's are awesome, the box is awesome. If it were me, I'd swap out the subs to something new, and amps, perhaps change up the trunk / amp rack. I'd be tempted to suggest putting the RE's back in and run it like that for a while. Now, if you plan on the car sitting again for a while, I'd box up the RE's and send them to me for a build (kidding!! sorry with all the people begging for free stuff, it's hilarious reading the comments and had to throw that in there lol), but yeah box them up, and put them on a shelf somewhere to save them, they are still great subs you've had for a long time, so might as well save them, would hate to see them stolen if the car gets broken into again. Lastly, would be cool to see a video of the RE's back in for a bass test with an amp on your bench for old times sake before you rip the wall out if you do go that route. I'll still be tuned in to this series no matter how it goes.
Hate to see her torn apart but can’t wait to see the future the car holds ! I know you and the kids will have this thing looking and sounding dope again in no time
Those RE baskets are classic
Keep the wall!!!!
Complete tear down and re do everything 😊
9:18 - after hearing you say this was your first new car. Keep the car, maybe do a full rebuild of everything in it, but keep the car for sure 😢🥹
14:27 - go wild 🎉
Revive it 2.0 and make it something even more then it was before , Next Level Shop promoting car show ready
I'll keep the same setup, just upgrade the doors and batteries ,that's treasure built you did over 15 years ago, that shows you the hard work and passion you have for car audio 👍
Upgrade to new subs and tons of power
I personally think it would be cool to see you update the entire thing, show us what you would do differently today that you didn't or couldn't do way back then. Either way, whatever you do I'm excited for. I've been watching your videos for years, and its awesome how much you've grown.
Definitely keep the wall . Can’t see this thing go back to normal
Go crazy, i cannot believe how long ive been watching you!!!! I watch you put those in and now i watched you take them out. Thank for the content!!!!
Two 18" Gately Audio Subs and Gately Audio Amps
"Made it better" twice. I remember watching those videos 15+ years ago.
I remember spraying that box. It still looks like it great. Keep the wall and update all the equipment.
Classic setup/ throw back system
Dam Steve I've been following your channel for almost 20 years your the reason why I got into car audio hopefully one day I can meet you in person
Keep the wall. Modernize it. The legend shall live on

😮
I remember being heartbroken back on ROE when you posted the pictures of the theft recovery all those years ago.
I never realized the wall was made like that...I suppose the direction of the build depends on what you're really wanting the car to do. If you're actually going to put some miles on the Civic (if it were me) I'd gut the wall and electrical down to the alts. Have the alts modernized, go full lithium and rebuild with efficiency/weight saving in mind. Then get an alignment and get a new set of tires...make sure your hub bearings are all in good shape.
You and that Civic have been through a lot, I'd really love to see her shine in that sunlight with a fresh bill of health.
Fyi, you were a good role model and inspiration to me when I was much younger. I'm doing great now (15 years later lol), thanks for always cultivating a great community Steve.
This car is a time capsule. It’s so perfectly outdated it’s the perfect throwback. I’m glad you got this car back. This and the Tahoe when it first got the BTL’s was what got me into car audio. Glad some things never change
Keep the wall and go big
Keep it OG! I wouldnt sell it either.... Nice to have something from your past that started you in the game.
I'm still prayin for a complete redo!! Keepin comin.
Civic needs a new modern banbpass wall🔊
Back to life
I was waiting for the old school lift the sub over your head ( i sure as heck couldn't do it, let alone lift one of those monsters!)
Love to see the Honda getting some love and a project on the channel!
Best wishes with the build, can't wait for what you do with it!
In my personal opinion, if the structure of the wall is still sound, I would just go with newer subs and do a full upgrade to anything audio related in the car. She's still mint Steve!! She is a treasure from when you were getting started 15 plus years ago and she's a trademark of your stamp on the car audio world❤
For the love of great sound and the great memories you have had with all the ones that have passed away and still present, please keep her!! Everytime you you look at her, the memories will come flooding back and the smiles of your family will mean so much more❤
It may not be your first car or first build, but for me it was the first one I ever seen from you❤
Wow blast from the past !!!!!! 😮 I’ve followed you since then and before loved watching you build that and chickens caddy you gotta keep the wall and upgrade it do what you would have back then with all you got now !!!!!!!!
Bring it back to life
keep it and upgrade
Keep the wall and throw different subs and lithium batts
Definitely do an updated build. A b2 Audio build! PLEASE PLEEEASE consider an all b2 Audio build.
I'd keep the wall and make whatever better adjustments I could to it and upgrade everything else and get it back to slammin again. When I first got into car audio when I was a teenager those subs were my dream subs I've always wanted a pair of those
Another pair of 18's with more power. I'd keep it in the family so when your grandkids ask pa paw what's the deal with that blue car... the memories and stories will be worth way more than the money👍
Looks of work going on there. Can't wait to see what you do. Thanks again Steve. Peace
I would love to see some AA SMD subs un there but ikn what ever u do it’s going to b amazing brotha ..
Keep the wall! You don’t see boxes like that anymore. Love to see what a refresh would do. That’s not a car it’s a toy. Who needs another normal car : )
Keep it simple bro.... get a Gately box and subs of your choice.... like you did with Jaybird and Jared's build.
Man if you keep it put a pair of your subs in them. On the box I stay keep it but you your attention to detail on it. Thank SMD
Keep the wall and just upgrade everything 🔥🔥🔥
What ever you decide to do its definitely gonna be SIC WIT IT!!!!!!!!
I never thought I'd ever see you take bass out of a car. Hell must have frozen over
a upgrade would be dope to see
Kudos for elevating your game with the cookbook.
Best charger I've ever owned. Just saved my 2 xs power 3400r's after it got down to 20 degrees here in the northwest.
I’d like to see crazy power.. and I big bank of Yinlong maybe custom bus bars for the battery. I think the box is cool, so wheather you keep it or not is fine, I’m here for whatever.
You know….the civic was you showcasing your skills back in the day. Why not carry on that tradition? I know you have the Tahoe and the Esco, but maybe make this a straight competition car? Ya know…give it all the beans, every single thing you have learned since the civic became “THE CIVIC” and put all you know now into a wild build and make it something you can trailer to shows and competitions. The civic is where it all started for a lot of us and I think it’s unanimous that no one wants it to go anywhere. Just my 2 cents homie. We are behind you 110% with whatever you choose. 🤜🏻🤛🏻🔥🔥
I remember the windshield flex with those subs. Crazy
a new set of 18s in that box
What ever you do bro it's going to be a SMD build and that I know it's going to be clean. It's crazy that back in the days we used alot of different brands and now you have all your own products to show. Goals. Can't wait to see all the SMD products that your going to use for the build. It's going to be like dope ass before and after vid.
Keep the box man upgrade the subs and throw alot of power in there
Two team sundown neos or two smds because it's him if the box is good and right for the subs do it. You can't let it go after this long.
I would go some big boy 18s on some serious power and go lithium.
Wall FTW!!!
Some GATELY SUBS AND AMPS..Brotha...🤘🔊🔊🤟
Steve we need to get you to a million subs brother almost there
Bring it back to life man 🙏
No matter witch way you go, someone will have negative remarks. So just do what makes Steve happy. That's it.
Yep. People with negative comments, and people asking for free shit. Those are two guaranteed things on Steve's videos.
More modern set keep the old box 100%
Hope all is well Steve I definitely say putting some sundown Uv2 18s in there ! Would be so sick
That's a lot of work. Thank you for the content keep up the good work.
Yes sir! Keeps the box 100
You meed to keep that honda old school leave it the way it is
Steve come on broski you already know what you are going to do...make it badass 😂😂
New pair of 18s and rebuild battery and amp rack!
I remember that book. I wonder if its in the basement still. My friends and family don't want me to put anymore money towards speakers. lol!!! They might have threw it out a long time ago.
Keep the wall. Go 2 new 18's on 10k watts and go lithium
I vote to put two more modern and powerful 18s.
I say as a a guy who the civic was the car .....tht u redo it all and then take another video of the boys sittin on the roof while metering it lol......thts wat I remember!!!
First brand new car you ever bought, and you still own it. Yeah keep it and do another build using your newer products techniques etc. There's something sentimental about it, speaking as a car guy. In my case, the first nice thing I ever bought myself is a 91 chevy Beretta gt in 1997, 31k on the clock. I worked my ass off to have a nice car, something to show for my effort while most of my friends drank and smoked their checks away. I still own that car today, among others. Ill never sell it. Over the years its been a constant reminder that good old fashioned work pays off.
Edit; i was in 10th grade.
Maybe try some new subs in the existing box to see what it will do on some bigger power. Almost infinite options.
Looks real good still though.
I am excited to see what route you choose. I'm sure it will be bad ass whatever you decide. ✌
Upgrade and make it better don’t gut it
Man a nice all around sound quality build in this thing would be nice. No crazy bass just quality.
Love seeing your videos bro, still to this day the cleanest build I ever seen
It is nostalgic so keep it but like you said put some more modern subs in there with more power
Make it a collab car with gately
Awesome Subwoofers 18’s
Keep the wall
I love this car you build!! It's the OG!
Update it and make it Hammer once again.
Full new build. You've learned so much since that was done. New more bigger and better!
The honda is what got me to this channel/to Meade YEARS ago. Not sure how i feel about this lol.... Got to see it when we hit autorama years ago, and love the rig. I hope it stays in the family somehow. Love that build/rig/car.
I’d like to see it just re surfaced, new look on something that’s honestly not broken! Can do some updated door panels to match, more modern components
Rebuild the system, go crazy!
Complete new buiild... Love to see your projects from start to finish.
