Its a difficult one to watch since its so complex (unless you watch a lot of anime, where you pay attention to a lot of details) This anime has such good plot and story development, character development and visuals are just *chefs kiss* - oh dont get me started on the voice acting. Waiting for season 5 in the coming years, definitely give it a watch! Also, this might be one of the only anime where the protagonist is the villain! Usually in anime you see the perspective of the "Hero" and the "savior against demons" and all, well NOT THIS anime.

Overlord is honestly my MOST favorite anime I've ever watched, and perhaps the first adult anime I got into for its violence and dark theme. What was amazing about it is the fact its designed from D&D and is themed around a Video Game shutting down with the touch of Isekai. And you're not observing a person who is suppose to be a good entity but is instead a big bad (Though I will not spoil too much of the plot). After you watch the entire series I'd highly recommend you and anybody to watch some detailed videos where it fully explains the lengths of the world, every characters' background n stats, abilities and the world itself along with the Yggdrassil world. There is so much detail in the lengths and levels for the anime that you don't really notice unless you read the light novels and Manga.
It really is a good anime. Good characters and character development, good world building as well. My only problem with the anime is that when it uses cgi for big groups of enemies, the cgi is really bad. If you can get past that though, everything else in the anime is quite enjoyable
I would argue the CGI isn't that bad, I've seen a lot of different anime, and seen a fair bit of CGI usage. So I'd probably put the CGI for Overlord at ok, decent, or meh, at certain varying parts. I think the reason it probably stands out as bad is due to one, the show being mostly drawn and it being fairly good at that, and since so much of the show itself is good, anything that fails to be at the same level stands out more. I have seen far worse CGI usage in other shows, but I've also seen better, hence why I said for me it ranges from decent/ok to meh, maybe even sub-par on some bits. But regardless the CGI for the worst bits in the show isn't nearly bad enough for me to not like or watch the show, it's just a small flaw on an otherwise stellar show.
You brought back the memory of my first viewing. It's a really dark anime, and everyone in it is acting crazy and killing. Ainz Sama is the lord of Nazarlik Castle. His authority and power has driven me crazy and in a funny way, it has made me feel like I'm in love with a man😭🤣 If you don't watch this anime, you're really missing out. This is the story of a real dictator. He has a very deep and special behavior, but actually he doesn't know what he is doing. I would like to say a few things about the openings, 1- The first, second and fourth openings are for the OXT group. 2- It would really be a pity if you don't listen to the full opening version as well. 3- If you see the full opening with meaning, it will be even better, because the meaning of Overlord's songs is very dark. I think I will die waiting for Overlord season 5😶🌫️. I converted this text into English with transliteration, so I don't know if I was able to convey my meaning well or not. You realize yeah Ainz is OP as hells, but... he's not the guy to root for. He's the Demon king of Demon kings. It's everyone else you're meant to root for to hope that they fucking survive just the presence of his interference. It's not that he ruins the worlds problems. It's that he's so above their problems in power that he could fix them, but he isn't a god.... he has the powers of a god; just not their omniscient power. He's relatively evil, and has DEFINITELY done fucked up things, but for his people and their allies, he's genuinely doing a whole lot of good...
As for Overlord -- the big skeleton with those bones next to his skull is THE OVERLORD and he is probably the strongest living creature in the show... (at least as shown up to ending of season 4), which makes watching Overlord a complately different experience than any other show...

Every Overlord song makes a music video in my head. Season 1. It creates the image of a mage on the field of war. You're conjuring and evoking spells left and right. You're burning every enemy. healing and helping every ally, but it doesn't matter to you until you decide to break out the big guns and go full fire and scorch the balls of your enemy to death. Season2. The song Evokes the thought of commanding an army of unholy power mounting against a power that's only minorly angered you. You call your generals and heroes to answer a call to burn these lands to ash. A call they answer in all but the most brutal fashion. Season 3: This creates the image that after everything you've achieved some kind of demonic apotheosis, and fuck everything before. You need no enforcers or diplomats as you are a mad font of power. You charge across the lands of your former foes and raze their lands with just your spiteful anger. They try and rize, but you smite them with but an an iota of your will until you consume all of that what was theirs. Season 4. This one creates the image of a brilliant battle. Where you're slaughtering the opposition then once they're all dead you dance above the bodies of the slain with their queen or princess taken as a trophy of victory.
Overlord is a great anime but when it comes to “fights” it’s not that great however it’s world building is on point and it’s my favorite isekai anime, I absolutely recommend it 👍
I'm late, but the fights are actually pretty damn good in Overlord. They're just pretty short, which is actually kinda realistic, especially with the sides being compared. The fights in Overlord are very abnormal for anime. Posturing isn't there to just pad run time, fights are usually decisive rather than incredibly back and forth, and when fights are taken seriously it becomes an almost surgical execution. Almost every long fight in Overlord is intentionally hammed up, because they're Wizard of Oz type smoke and mirror schemes to spread infamy. The exceptions (like the Shalltear fight) are WONDERFULLY done, being intense, fast paced, and methodical. You get to actually see the tactics at play, and a glimpse of what combat was like in Yggdrasil, which is just really cool.
Battles are epic but short-lived and that's kind of the point. To show the power gap between Nazarick (Ainz's faction) and the rest of the world. For lore, diversity and world-building though this anime is phenomenal. Who is good and who is bad? What is good and what is evil? The anime constantly flip flops between the two and if you're not questioning the character's morals or your own by the end of it, your watching it wrong.
Overlord is a really good anime, doesn't matter if you're watching it subbed or dubbed, both are good (though I do prefer the dub for Overlord). It's definitely my favorite isekai anime, and just one of the best isekai's out there, in my opinion. There's certainly some other isekai that give it a run for it's money, as well as being other favorites of mine. That time I got reincarnated as a Slime is another really good one, Saga of Tanya the Evil, and more, I could list a fair few. But for me nothing quite gets me as hyped or happy as Overlord, I like the large cast of characters, the world, the attention to various little things, and the hilarious bits where Ainz has no idea what's going on, but everyone thinks he does. As for the openings, I do like both groups a lot, and they also handle the endings too. It's actually a nice even split basically, the 1st, 2nd, and 4th openings, and 3rd ending is done by OxT, the 3rd opening, and 1st, 2nd, and 4th endings are done by Myth & Roid (technically, I think the 4th ending is mainly the lead singer on her own, but still, close enough). Now I do like openings 4 and 1 the most, with 3 and 2 being still good, but behind the other two, but that's merely a matter of taste, you can't really go wrong with any of them in my opinion. I hope that if you do watch it you have fun, cause I really can't praise the show enough.

For lore, diversity and world-building though this anime is phenomenal. Who is good and who is bad? What is good and what is evil? The anime constantly flip flops between the two and if you're not questioning the character's morals or your own by the end of it, your watching it wrong.

Overlord is a really good anime, doesn't matter if you're watching it subbed or dubbed, both are good (though I do prefer the dub for Overlord). It's definitely my favorite isekai anime, and just one of the best isekai's out there, in my opinion. There's certainly some other isekai that give it a run for it's money, as well as being other favorites of mine. That time I got reincarnated as a Slime is another really good one, Saga of Tanya the Evil, and more, I could list a fair few. But for me nothing quite gets me as hyped or happy as Overlord, I like the large cast of characters, the world, the attention to various little things, and the hilarious bits where Ainz has no idea what's going on, but everyone thinks he does.
As for the openings, I do like both groups a lot, and they also handle the endings too. It's actually a nice even split basically, the 1st, 2nd, and 4th openings, and 3rd ending is done by OxT, the 3rd opening, and 1st, 2nd, and 4th endings are done by Myth & Roid (technically, I think the 4th ending is mainly the lead singer on her own, but still, close enough). Now I do like openings 4 and 1 the most, with 3 and 2 being still good, but behind the other two, but that's merely a matter of taste, you can't really go wrong with any of them in my opinion. I hope that if you do watch it you have fun, cause I really can't praise the show enough.

That’s the thing… their is no true good guy and we follow the true bad guys in this show the viewer is on the side of the overlord aka the side of the enemies

Overlord is a good anime if you are a fan of Dungeons and Dragons as well as Isekai Anime shennanigans. It tells a full story and carries with it the marks of a world that has the loving touches of a maestro giving such a world life. You realize yeah Ainz is OP as hells, but... he's not the guy to root for. He's the Demon king of Demon kings. It's everyone else you're meant to root for to hope that they fucking survive just the presence of his interference.
It's not that he ruins the worlds problems. It's that he's so above their problems in power that he could fix them, but he isn't a god.... he has the powers of a god; just not their omniscient power. He's of you gave Joe at the water cooler the keys to the frozen throne of the Lich King and said "Go on. Run this bitch, bitch."

yeah I've never been a big fan of anime like Naruto and Sword art. Overlord however, now that's an Anime that will put some hair on your chest
