I remember when that song was still new among black folk . My Grand parents and eight children had to flee Cochran ,Ga because the Klan was lynching my family’s neighbors . We had a lot of farm land there and was buying more but it was so dangerous they had to protect the children.

I was also in 1935 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. I remember as a small child being hustled out of MS by my mom and dad.
