      I would have preferred this ending instead of the ending I got. (Ciri became a witcher)
      This ending involved way more emotion and I think this wrapped up the story and feel of the Witcher-series really well.

    • @eric-nd9yy
      @eric-nd9yy 5 років тому +13

      just first time finished the game. In the end, Ciri just like real life missing person, most cases the person just ran away. she already had stayed in many worlds in the past, and the only reason she come back to witcher's world this time because of people in there, whom she care about, she want to save them from White Frost. if she can come back alive in good ending, meaning in bad ending she just go some where else, because Geralt' behavior make she think this world too grim for her to stay. so after saving the world she decide to leave. perhaps she now stay in another video game's universes.... imo depend on Geralt been through his whole life in this world naturally he will give Ciri all the negative' point advises, and those advises are not bad or evil. every good advises seen too force when i play the game and try to get to the good ending. or maybe Geral just changed after he finally meet Ciri..

    • @Veloziraptor111
      @Veloziraptor111 8 років тому +273

      +guitarwhelp I also like the fact that this ending, while sad, actually tells the most complete story. Both Ciri being empress and Ciri being a witcheress are not truly endings, as Ciri will undoubtedly be having many more adventures and dammit, I want to see them. In this case, with Ciri being dead and Geralt following soon after, at least no more questions are left unanswered. And it's satisfying to kill the last Crone, something that's left unresolved in the other endings. I find it hard to believe that Geralt and Ciri wouldn't go after the last Crone together if she survived, to retrieve Vesemir's/Ciri's medallion.
      Also, this is the ending that would agree best with the book canon. Seeing how the books have chapters set in the future where people who have been closely following Ciri's story have no clue what happened to her. That would certainly rule out the Empress ending, seeing how if Ciri became an empress under her real name and titles, that would have definitely been recorded in history. As for Witcheress ending, well, surely her legend would continue as well, unless she changed her name.

    I can tell Geralt was so close to regain his emotion, probably the closest ever since he became a witcher. In the minute he killed the last Crone, he showed extreme hatred, wrath, panic and lastly grief. It's the most humane Geralt we've seen in the last Witcher game. That "I don't feel anymore" line made him ever more pathetic.

I didn't accept the emperors coin, didn't want her to join the lodge because they're suspicious, visited Skjalls grave and tried to comfort as much as I could. But still, in the end, she died. I like this ending as it shows that even being stripped of emotion can't stop the desperation, rage, and grief he feels from coming out. On top of that, the medallion is a double blow to him as it's a reminder of losing both Ciri AND Vesemir. The only way they could have topped it would have been to show him shed a tear, as it would have been a callback to the line he gave to Ciri when she called him out for not looking too upset at Vesemir's funeral: "I'd cry, too, but i don't know how"

I mean take the Lodge meeting, yeah it would be nice to hear what they plan to do with Ciri and to back her up if she needs it BUT by the same token, Ciri is an adult who can and should be trusted to do what she thinks is right. The snowball fight: rather self-explaining, i mean i wouldn't want to drink my sorrows away after the death of a "family" member. Yeah you can reminisce that way but the thoughts are rarely positive. Maybe it's disrespectful to his memory that Ciri is laughing and happy so soon after his death and yet i believe that he would 100% want Ciri to do that. I'm pretty sure NOT going to bury Skjall is the negative one not burying him.

    • @davidparkes7741
      @davidparkes7741 6 років тому +1

      Confused Canuck Yeah, i don't get that logic. I always play it as in what i would do if it were me in Geralts shoes. Kids having overprotective parents rarely ends well once they reach the real world. So by showing this trust and belief in Ciri to make the right decisions for herself is ALWAYS a good thing. Ok, sure you might want to protect Ciri from the plans the Lodge DO have for her and yet, how is letting Ciri decide on her own what she wants to do with regards to their plans such a bad thing?

    • @ConfusedCanuck
      @ConfusedCanuck 6 років тому +2

      Except that going to the sorceresses isn't about being over protective. It's the fucking prudent move. It's literally the move, if you've been following the story, that makes the most sense.
      This is the core problem. I mean, if there was a scenario where she's going to go out fighting something that you know to be weak and you're like "I'll come with you", sure. But that's not the case.
      For example, when I played, every single time I had an option to let Ciri choose I did so. Those didn't fucking mattered to determine if you had confidence in her. What mattered was a fucking snowball fight.
      The ending is retarded. And I'm sorry to say anyone who thinks the choices makes sense is either of low mental capacity, being a fanboi or is trolling.

I also like the fact that we can find dead Witchers in the game so it would be dope to find out if a young Witcher came and found Geralts loot

And when the deed is done she puts the amulet on and sets out to forge her own legend. It would also set up a sequal nicely.

But at least I made Cerys queen of Skellige and she ruled. Besides that I failed every of the core Ciri quests/decisions as I wanted to help, not knowing that those decide whether she survives the white cold and comes back or dies. I also kicked away Dixtra, not knowing Geralt would go ham on him and twist his other leg, resulting in me not being able to kill Radovid. Goddamn!

    Guys please... From a narrative perspective this ending makes sense if geralt dies. He is completely alone and broken. He does not want to live anymore. He breaks down at the sight of vesemirs meddalion. He also said to the peasant when told to leave:" not yet, soon" So I believe that if you have a romance, he lives. If not he dies, regardless of the dlcs. It just makes sense that he will die. Weavess senses his pain. And no I'm not edgy, this just makes sense.

      it does, but i dont think even with a romance, will he decide to fight for his life. with how broken he is at the end, in the house of the crones, not even triss or yen love will help him survive the loss of his daughter. he even said so himself, "you lie. I dont feel a thing anymore", implying, that, even if during the fight or cutscenes he displays emotion, on the inside he is a dead husk of the man he was before the death of ciri.

    SO I got this ending because I tried to be a good father:
    -When Ciri came defeated I tried to lift the pressure, I told her she didnt need to be good at everything. My idea was using reverse psycology in order to leave her out of pressure. (BAD CHOICE)
    -When she was irrationally angry I tried to calm her down, instead of doing something she would regret. I valued the effort token from Avallach with that research. (BAD CHOICE)
    -When Ciri told me the lodge wanted to have a meeting I tried to be a supportive father and to show her I was supporting her I told her that i would be present in order to let her comfortable in that meeting (BAD CHOICE)
    -I went with her to Skjall funeral (GOOD CHOICE)
    -Didnt sell her out (GOOD CHOICE)
    So, I had the bad ending, but I tried to be a good father, does this mean I am a bad father or is the game messed up?

    • @adrock543
      @adrock543 5 років тому +39

      Thats funny, I made exactly the same decisions as you and was just as confused with the ending. Granted it is only a game but by this logic in order to be a “good” parent you should encourage vandalism, insist on unrealistic perfectionism for ciri and be aloof and unsupportive when she takes the lead in gathering the lodge sorceresses. Huh? Makes no sense. If you really told your kid they had to be good at everything and be so hard on themselves they would probably be fairly anxious and poorly adjusted adults. The meeting choice wasnt about not respecting ciris autonomy as an adult but just being there as a silent supportive parent with any age child is a great example to set. Lastly one of the main themes of this ending was that Geralt was consumed by violence and anger by killing everything in sight but yet we came to this point by teaching ciri the life lesson of restraint of revenge/anger by not destroying avallachs lab. Well thats my rant but it made me feel better and I fully agree with you.

    • @Bergstein400
      @Bergstein400 5 років тому +15

      Adam Wheeler ditto. I got this ending and was blown away by it since I made my choices trying to be as logical as possible. Letting ciri “be an adult” was like giving a 7 year old nuclear launch codes right after they start a tantrum. So yeah, I’m gonna be a little over protective when the stakes are so high that the world might end, especially since ciri is so reckless

    • @ziadt6489
      @ziadt6489 5 років тому +25

      RangerCaptain775
      I got the bad ending and I agree
      What makes me laugh is that they could have made the lodge decision the complete opposite like making Geralt say you‘ll manage on your own in a reckless tone and boom that could be a negative answer and you‘re not being supportive or showing love or whatever and the other party would be pissed and discussing it on youtube and we‘d be expressing how logical it is.
      The lab thing is ridiculous you basically tell her to calm down why did they add the following scene of you forcing her to wear a necklace?? Discussion IS part of adulthood that Ciri clearly doesn‘t understand.
      It‘s not like I held her against her will to get her to calm down.
      Being the “adult“ she is and considering how unpredictable Geralt is sometimes I just didn‘t trust the „I know what‘l lift your spirit“ option because it was so vague I just picked the other thinking that Geralt would talk to her telling her real world advice like it‘s ok to fail or your doing your best and that‘s what matters or don‘t be hard on yourself NOT just give up magic you‘re hopeless
      The “good“ choice is to distract her like a 7 year old.
      Seriously who plays snowball after a friend‘s death and with an adult looking for relief??
      I thought she was an adult that I should sit down and talk to her like one not distract her with a game and run away from the bigger problem.
      I don’t understand. The game was not black and white how come the endings are??
      The good and the bad endings are basically Disney vs complete tragedy and Ciri is a child in an adult‘s body
      I appreciate the not so obvious choices but they should not have lead to black and white results

And trust me I had good intentions when playing this game and I didn’t even know what factored into this ending. Didn’t even know there was multiple endings let alone a bad one.
