There are versions of this song from 1925 and before. My grandmother was born in 1897 and I remember her quoting the song when I was a kid in the 1970s. I have a whole block of these songs (Elvis, Seekers, and the early ones) on this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLkY8-UOMZQ09ybhfLC4gKyutwRBDK2q7p.html
Wow - I'd never heard this version! Only heard a version from a concert in 2000 - and what makes it a rare piece especially is its one of the very few tracks (the first I've heard anyway?) on which Judith doesn't provide vocals. A rare performance with the Boys alone. They certainly show their humour here - brilliant!
I think you're right - the group formed in 1962 and Juith joined in 1963 - but if the date of the video is 1966, maybe this is a song the boys did while Judith was preparing another song. "Robin Hood was carryin' on for hours with Maid Marian" Hahaha :D
It's from the 1966 Australian television special, "The Seekers at Home." Judith is certainly front and center throughout the show; this is the only song (which I can remember) in which she doesn't participate. It's available on DVD, from Australia but region free, if your player can handle PAL DVDs.
not only is it probably the dirtiest song of the 1960s by number of different sex events, but it's probably the most shamelessly explicit of the decade, too. i'm surprised this was considered broadcastable in 1966 (considering it's even a little shocking in the 2020s), though i'm not complaining either.
For decades I only heard Elvis' version of this song. Love Elvis, but this song is more thorough and complete. Not to mention quite funny as well.

You never heard the original by Brownie?
Wauu nice performance, but where was Judith ? In this song it does not matter, just curious.

A melhor versão com raul seixas considerado o rei do rock brasileiro
My very favorite singing group. I have every cd of theirs that I could find. My favorite song of mine that they sing is The Carnival is Over. 😢🥰
Recorded by Otto Gray and his Oklahoma Cowboys in 1924 _ 4000 years.
Raul Seixa's version is the best of all! But is really nice to see the original version
This is really amazing, absolutely. Had no idea they did this one with the audience participating! Thanks.
Lovely..."She'll be coming down the mountains when she comes..."
This song is awesome!
What a lovely sense of humor! xxx

They literally wrote a song about a lady of the night and Judith sang the part of that lady.
very funny.
Big difference from the Elvis rendition. Different style and some lyrics. Interesting.
This is tame compared to the version by the late great Matt McGinn.
Judith must have been in the ladies room.
FAKE ! 1966 wasn't 10,000 years ago !
What a stupid comment

Raul Seixas' version is much better than Elvis'
