Their song "He ain't heavy, he's my brother". Is a must. Its about foster boys in Boys Town learning to support each other. One of the boys was disabeled. Its a amazing song.
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is my favorite, closely followed by Carrie Ann
@@subwaygoddess1 Love the old 60s British groups. How about "The Seekers"? "I'll Never Find Another You" and "Georgy Girl" - although for context, you probably need to be familiar with the movie to enjoy that song...Check out "The Byrds"" Turn Turn Turn"..."To Sir With Love" by LuLu...Great movie theme song to a fantastic Sidney Poitier movie.
@rubyslippers8215 my mom used to babysit this 3-month-old boy, back in the 60s. I was a little girl, and while I held the baby, EVERY time I put on the 45 of "I'll Never Find Another You," the baby would go nuts laughing. He never did that when I sang any other song!!! I once sang "To Sir With Love" in a singing contest, when I was in 6th or 7th grade. I didn't win, but I had a great time singing it! I fell in love with Sidney Poitier because of that movie! I love "Turn Turn Turn" and Georgy Girl!
"The Air That I Breathe" is a beauty.
*"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and "The Air That I Breathe" are BEAUTIFUL and ICONIC!*
Great band! He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother and Bus Stop are my two favorite Hollies songs.
Hollies had a lot of hit. "He aint heavy" and " The air that breath" are 2 of many great songs they did. This is my favorite of their songs.
A very underrated band. Give Carrie Anne and Stop Stop Stop a listen where it's more of a British sound that Graham Nash had been part of.
They had lots of hits. How could they be underrated? They weren't.
They were such a great and very talented band . I still listen to their music. Hope you enjoy this song, one of my favorites of theirs along with He Ain't Heavy , he's my Brother 💕🔥🔥
What he's doing there with the lead vocal improvisations at the end is absolutely so playful and funny and really clever. That when you play it live, it gets people expecting to start chanting along, but then he doesn't deliver the phase and just hums it instead and then surprises them by saying it when it wasn't expected, and you just hear the laughter in his voice as he's kind of clowning around in the low register at the end
Love this group. The Hollies are a British pop rock group formed in 1962 & known for their great harmonies. They had so many hit songs such as "The Air That I Breathe", "Bus Stop", "Stop Stop Stop", "He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother", "On A Carousel", "Carrie Anne", "Here I Go Again", "Look Through Any Window", "King Midas In Reverse", "Jennifer Eccles" etc. "Graham Nash" was originally in this group & left in 1968 to form "Crosby, Stills & Nash".
"Sorry, Suzanne"
It was also in "Remember The Titans"
Patty-I would like to recommend Bus Stop as well.
This is one of my main workout songs. I didn't know it was a workout song in "The Longest Yard."
“The Air That I Breath” is historically one of the sexiest songs!
lol everytime I can tell you recognize a song from somewhere and it's a movie and you always remember which one
WE used to roller skate to this song back in the day , do our little turns and backwards strides , lots of fun , try and hit on the girls :)
Another classic Hollies song is “Bus Stop”.
See, you aren't dumb as you think you are! Like you figured it out, swamp rock like CCR was the style of this Hollies song. Yes, 3-part harmonies are their forte! "Bus Stop", "Carrie-Anne" , "On A Carousal", "Stop, Stop Stop" are a few of their 60's hit. Other 70's hits were "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", "The Air That I Breathe" and my favorite "Long Dark Road".
absolutely ♥ this song!
The arrangement the songwriters had sounds like the same deal John Lennon and Paul McCartney had with The Beatles, in that any song done by either of them, as well as those done by both of them, would be credited to both.
Hollie’s have very different types of songs. Each are great on their own.
Do He ain"t heavy he"s my brother next. Then you will be hooked and can do a dozen more.
It's funny but because of that echo on the voice that you mentioned, and the sound texture and style of the guitars, and really just the year that it came out in basically, but a lot of people actually assumed that this was CCR and were surprised to find out that it was the Hollies. It really is such a fantastic banger of a song. I like all their earlier stuff too, but this one absolutely kills. I've actually performed it live in a band several times, and people would just dance their asses off, lol. And the lyrics are absolutely hilarious!
Love this song!!
The Air That I Breathe👍
Great song request the air that ! breathe! By The Hollies! The title is Long cool woman ( In a black dress)
"Long Dark Road" is my favorite Hollies song
I think it was used in Remember the Titans also.
This song reminds me of rollerskating at the Hawaiian Gardens rink…. it was behind the wagon wheel bowling alley.
That’s pretty much what most of the country had at the time.
Rink, bowling alley, drive-in…. it was a great time to be a kid!
The hollies perform every Summer in my small town,Ojai, CA., at the Libbey bowl.✌️
A group from England had many hits in the 60's and 70's.
Song has been in several movies!!!
Remember the Titans for one
This song was also featured in the Denzel Washington movie, REMEMBER THE TITANS. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a must watch.
When he sings ,”a pair of 45s really opened my eyes”he’s not talking about guns, lol.
Adam Sandler does have a lot of influence on music choices for his films. It seems easy to forget that he is a singer and songwriter and musician, too.
Great song! Featured in Remember the Titans movie! Love it!
Yup Fogerty tried to sue the Hollies for sounding too much like CCR’s song “Green River” … they settled out of court .
Also, used in "Remember The Titans".
I listen to this just to hear the WOOO!
The song was in the movie
Remember The Titans.
This song was also in remember the Titans when they did a montage of their football games❤❤
I agree with you, the intro and the feel is similar to CCR. Great band. Please dig deeper.
I would recommend “Look Through Any Window”.
You need some "Air That I Breathe"...amazing! ❤
My favorite ❤
thats 1 of them songs that u need to hear thru headphones m8!
you chose the best one🔥🔥🔥🔥
You're pretty much the opposite of an idiot for being able to make all of these connections now, I think it's great.
This song is wild. FBI, DAs, guns going off. LOL
Listen to ‘He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother’.
It's in the movie
Remember the Titans
a pair of 45’s on a 5’9 beautiful tall
This was huge in 72.
not exactly an "echo" but a "reverb"
This song is not typical Hollies in my view.
I second the request for "He's not Heavy, He's My Brother." I KNOW you'll love it:
