    My favorite idea is the folding tip. What a fun find in a journal! I am getting lost in your beautiful digikits, Miss Pam!😍 They are all gorgeous! Because of my fixed income, I have to reign in bought crafting supplies to only what I will use immediately & regularly. I can't do all the paper hunting necessary for collecting old papers (not many stores for that here) so I'm thrilled with your digikits of papers, like the diary & postcard ones. I love love love the bookplates! I'm going to print them on the end/fly papers of aged books that I can get for free at several places. I'll adhere them to regular copy paper using double sided or washi tape. If orientation is important, I'll have fiddle with images to fit before printing. Anything else, like text block I'll be tearing up, I only have to fit the blank pages to the actual sheet of paper. You do beautiful work! Thank you so much, Miss Pam

    Love the cow story! Reminds me of a scene in Far from the Madding Crowd: a herd of sheep (not the brightest animals) eat too much of something, blow up, and fall over, groaning. The handsome farm manager quickly saves the day by puncturing each sheep with a sort of tube, which allows the trapped gas to escape. Must have been pretty stinky, right? Thanks for sharing your enthusiasms with us!

    Hi Pam, LOVE your channel and look forward to seeing your videos as soon as they arrive. I was wondering if you could do me a favor and do a video using the cards of rickrack and various seem bindings and piping that I seem unable to stop purchasing where ever I see them. Even the packaging is wonderful for collage pockets and tucks. . I am a visual person so if you could use some of the stuff in a video it would give you a video and me a way forward. I can't be the only one with a box or three okay 5 boxes of the stuff. I think some new ideas and a fresh perspective would help me out a lot. I do not want to horde the stuff. Help a 50+ girl out!

    An idea for using those brittle papers is to put them between wax paper, or anything clear so to can see both sides and clip or hinge them into the journal.

    I've been re-watching the "heart throbs" series... and I decided to do a retro of the project... found a copy on ebay for $1.29 after my free book coupons...yeah me...so I'm going to do the entire series one day at a time...I spent last week w my grandkids and we did a full paper dying day...some of the colors 2- 11 yo and 1- 13yo can come up w are amazing...I now have enough dyed paper for many many journals...talk about a fun time...they live nearly 3 hours away so between my schedule n my daughters (I'm a lab scientist and she is a psychologist in an inpatient teen facility) it is hard to find days off at the same time...so we each take a couple days extra w our days off...and we pack every minute into 5 days...so thank you Pam for providing inspiration for things to do with the kids...next time we are doing several poster board collages and master boards as well as writing boards...can't wait to see what they come up with...both of my grandsons are budding artists...my middle one needs to be put into extra art classes...he blew me away w a free hand drawing of an Japanese cartoon character...no looking at a drawing...but as much as they watch those bizarre cartoons...he probably has the faces memorized...but then his dad is a fair artist...as was my mom...I can't draw a proper stick man...it looks like a man having a seizure...lol. .but thank you for the inspiration...any other ideas I can do w them next visit...

    Good morning Pam!💕 “A clean space and clean fingers” hahahaha. Yeah, right. Not here. 😄 And only after I had sewn a cover yesterday (trying a soft cover for a change) and set it on my desk (with it’s usual 7” of work space) did I truly realize the impending dangers of using fabric that has a lot of white (very white) background. 😫 Where was my overthinking when I needed it?! 😂 Have a wonderful week. I like to preserve some of my really old papers so I like your idea to make a copy of favorite old and probably irreplaceable paper items and aging the copy to use in your journal. I haven't tried copying directly onto aged or distressed paper, but that's a thought. Also if you save a digital copy you can enjoy it over and over😀. And I agree with another comment about putting double sided or very fragile paper pieces in a see through pocket. I discovered that clear plastic recipe card sleeves are useful. Of course you lose the feel of that wonderful old paper😒

    • @La1Senora
      @La1Senora 2 роки тому +1

      Because it seems like many of y'all are serious about authentic old papers, I thought I'd share a good source of information. Kelly of Book and Paper Arts creates altered books of mixed media art. While she uses junk journalling techniques, her art IS different than junk journalling. Living in Europe, most of the materials she uses are antique. I'm hooked on her flip throughs because they're little galleries of antique papers. Her best tip, IMHO, is adhering end/fly pages of books, tracing paper, and vellum to standard copy paper to print on them. ua-cam.com/users/BookandPaperArts

      My dad was an Ag Teacher and when I was about 11, we drove out to one of his student's farm. They had a bloated milk cow. I was told to wait in the truck. Dad assessed the situation and they decided to plunge a knife in the side of the cow's belly, which Dad did. From the look on everyone's faces, I was glad I stayed in the truck. It must have smelled really bad. I was worried about the cow, but Dad said they sewed up the cow's belly and she was doing just fine. I hadn't thought about that day in years, but your story reminded me. :)

    Pam... that second project, the brittle paper you couldn't find a date on. Look close at the piece you glued into the journal (deliberately separated pieces, love it!!!!). At the bottom middle one, it said "rec'd pay't jun 22 (sorry, its paused and that spot is blurry), 70. 70 is the key... 1870 is my guess based on the prices.
    There ya go =D
    Just wish I could make out the huge expense on the 1st line (18+$), what it was for, but my thought is a type of grain or seed or something to plant/for farming. But they bought PINEAPPLES!!! Did you see that?????
    Edited 2 add as I watch... shame we can't have smell-o-vision, so i could smell that old paper, too - i always loved smelling books, new and old...
    paper... books... such a multi-sensory experience.

      A light misting with a solution of vinegar and water may help. Usually when the vinegar dries it has no odor and it can help remove moldy smell. Just don't saturate
      Vinegar kills dust mites if you were to ever need that info.

      Lay it out in the sun for a couple of days. I just recently got some old smelly musical notes from a flea market. I layed them out in the blasting sun for days. Always turned pages. The smell is almost gone. Just be careful when there is ink or other pigments: these could fade by being exposed to the sun.

I don't understand and think I may have missed something? Do two negatives make a positive? I normally would not ask, but it stumps me every time I watch one of your videos which is a lot!
