Man, what a killer couple of guitar parts for "They Don't Really Care About Us"! I always felt like this tune and "Speed Demon" we're similar in how aggressively funky they are. Love me some MJ!
I spent so many hours pouring through record sleeves looking at which session musicians had played on an album. Plus as someone who likes the behind the scenes aspects of concerts with backing musicians/crew members as much as the show itself, this channel is gold. Bloody brilliant. Cheers.
ha,cool to see that Michael's messy creativity-cave hasn' t changed. Michael draw my attention to those GREAT guitarsystems pedals esp the vibetool! the junior drive hasn t left my board ever since, too! I tried A LOT of vibes and ODs but these 2 toys are second to none but rarely mentioned.
In that song theres an ultra fast pentatonic lick after first chorus. I think it's guitar unisono with keys. Did he play that, too? Didn't find anything on the web about this part!?
Gotta remember these studio guys are remembering things from decades earlier and quite often they’ll have done countless takes trying different notes…you’re 100% spot in but I get when they might have something different to what we’re used in the memory
I know...who am I to criticize anything he does here. I am just surprised, cause it sounds wrong, and I wouldn't play it like this. The guitar in the recording is overdubbed with a lot of stuff, maybe he played it like this. But I don't think so. Funny though, and I love these videos of the studio rats! Just great piece of history right here.
i never believe this, i living this era when i get to know the behind story from another pov, thank you ❤❤❤❤

Man, great interview! ... Next... Michael Landau ??? 😍
Michael Thompson made magic over and over again on so many infectious tracks… I bet that’s a heavily customized guitar he’s playing?
My fav mj track

Yes, but said it was all sped up in post.
It sounded slightly out of time on the fourth run.
The three Micheals.
so what did trevor rabin play on this song? i always taught it was this exact same part
I don’t think he played on it at all. Michael
Thompson explains why in the full interview.
Am I the only one to realize, that he plays it wrong? That slide should be G to A, not Ab to A....
Meh close enough, good catch tho💪🏻
Yep, you're right
Yeah bro it sounds weird
