I think these episodes are so important to document a level of excellence and experience that guitarists like Tim, Michael Thompson and Landau, etc. have upheld for years. I sometimes get concerned that some of the current players aren't at this level, which may be unfair but.... Then there is Pete Thorn and a group of other players that are carrying the torch. Sometimes you will get a scenario that is similar to a Xerox of a Xerox of a Xerox and you forget how much better the original image was because you just get used to the degrading over time. These videos will be amazing references for future players that want to be as good as they can, they will see how high the bar has been set. Cheers!
The only thing I miss about recording in LA is when Michael was on the session, -best attitude, best spontaneous ideas, best tones, -just positive energy. Priceless! He definitely plays better while chewing gum :)
It's a rare opportunity to watch musicians of this caliber in such an honest and candid setting: with mutual admiration and respect. Tim, Pete and Michael, you guys are inspiring!!
hey're all brilliant players, Petes easily the best rocker and can kill it live and writes great guitar parts but i dont think anyone come close to conveying the emotion of the song through the guitar parts like Tim , i love his playing. He has done the studio thing for so long he s just so good at it , following the chords and building a story with his phrases , he schooled them haha
Tim has a definite signature when he improvises his own stuff. I am sure, when recording for records, he is a versatile as it gets. But, having watched his video lessons for about a year now, you can absolutely feel a signature to his phrasing. [IMO] I always feel quite fortunate when he puts up a lesson.
To All of the people that were in this video, Thank You Very Much, I Learned A Bunch of things, And I enjoyed that everyone played a guitar that was not their guitar, with high action.. that shows people that you have the Talent to do what you do best, Play guitar,
That modulating detuned chorus effect is so rich sounding. Humble musicians, too. Everyone left the egos at the door and just tore it up.Keep em coming! Thanks Tim and Pete
OH man oh man! Was that fun and inspirational and informative and fun ...and did I mention how fun it was?!?!? Thank you all, so much for having such a good time and enjoying yourselves and appreciating each other and wonderful gorgeous sounds and as Steve Martin would say, superb note choicements! LOL
Oh my god. Best episode ever! Tim is a pure delight to watch play! His smile makes it such an event. I liked Pete’s solo the best, but watching Tim makes me wish I was there. Wow, I learned SO much from Michael! What an amazing video! I can’t decide what my favorite part was!
I just love watching the creative juices flow between you guys, and the absolute joy on Tim's face while improvising that solo is just freaking wonderful. Keep up the great work Pete and Tim.
Thanks for letting me sit in. It's great listening to 3 master craftsmen talking about their art with the tidbits about the tools & mindsets involved. Thanks.
What an inspiring episode. Thanks! The gear/patches breakdown, to the never before seen, three guitarists, one guitar, one sound, one track... So cool!
I so wish they would of continued with this outstanding series. But I cherish each and every episode they gave us and return to watch them quite often and always learn something new again. Thank you Tim and Pete, thank you much! 😊
Beautiful vid gentleman. Absolutely blisteringly raw playing from three masters. To see the joy on Tim's face as he was playing was good for this old guys soul. Make a joyful noise; the reason we play.
This was insane. The stories, the playing, the knowledge. I felt the energy translate through the screen! Michael has a profound ability to just pick an ambience that best suits the stylistic avenue of the piece of music and I think there is a lot to be said about that. Great episode, truly.
I’ve watched this video so many times ... must be one of the best guitar videos online So much history and cool tips ... plus it’s just three bad asses chilling
Tim and Pete I absolutely love these shows! Please keep them coming. Not only are they all inspiring but extremely entertaining and very informational. Plus they have also opened my eyes and ears to new artist and new gear! Thank you guys for all that you do! -Jimmy
You guys hit it out of the park with this one!! Tim you killed it! Michael thank-you for giving up your years of tonequesting with us, You truly are a TONEMEISTER!! THANKS , do more of these going to other Tonesmiths houses/ studios love seeing all their shit. too cool.
Awesome job! Thanks, so much, for taking all the time and energy to put this together. The show has become my "most look forward to." Couldn't ask for more.
Great Video, as usual! It would be great if, for the "next heroes", we may have as follows: 1) Mike Landau 2) Steve Lukather 3) Jay Graydon 4) Dean Parks 5) Larry Carlton 6) Paul Jackson Jr and many others :)
That was awesome. I love hearing the stories and watching their technique. Good for Pete to take the challenge! I also liked how he asked to hear each layer of effects separately. This video was fun to watch. Thanks!
Pete nor Tim would never get a word in an hour long interview. Greg is like Robbin Williams or Jonathan Winters. You just wind him up and let him go. It wouldn't be an interview as much as a show. He is great.
Nailed another one boys. I think everyone who plays, dreams of these situations where you can exchange ideas so freely. To see it done by top professionals and feel like your their hanging out is just nuts. Thank you
Michael and Pete's solos were the shit but when Tim started playing..man.. That just moved me. What a master. Thank you guys so much for this show, it is such a huge inspiration to keep learning.
Thank you Pete and Tim. I'm just goin through so much right now. Baby is due this month but currently no gigs so I had to sell my number 1 Suhr Classic, guitar house loans didn't get approved, I'm in the most expensive city in the world (Singapore), and I have a back injury. I woke up praying for something to take me out of that negative space and this video did just that. Bless u guys for giving us hope and inspiring us who put ourselves and our family's life into this uncertain joy of a full time musicians life.Thank you!
awesome "fireside chat". I love being a fly on the wall when musicians like this gather....the organized chaos in his home studio ....love it. Thanks for sharing Tim
Absolutely great - it's really great watching guys just have fun and see that generations are brought together by music. The old(er?) guys are like big kids and excited still with music but have great knowledge and skill and Pete is mature and also a fabulous player and all with their connected interest in music - the world should learn from this attitude. Absolutely brilliant guys. Best episode yet. Keep in going.
This is, hands down, one of the most incredible and informative interviews I've seen in forever. So fantastic, seeing all three of you taking a pass at that solo. Feel free to do ten more with Michael! Though, they've all been great. Thank you, for doing these videos!
What more can I say Michael hits the exact spot for me as a musician. Creation of sounds that move you!! Great devotion to your craft guys. love it. Give me more!
Yeah, about when he said that musicians have alot of different takes and people only get to see the best of them most of the time. Even though he said this was one of his "First Takes" he still sounds awesome.
Wow, very cool! I loved Tim's off the cuff melodic sense and phrasing. He sounded rehearsed, what a pro! Michael seems like a real cool down to earth guy. What wealth of knowledge. A real gear nerd. His studio looks like a musicians hording warehouse with all sorts of weird decor. What a privilege to you have Pete to hang with guys like this. I love it!
This was a legendary 41 minutes guys. Important to see how much thought and creativity goes into making ambient sounds usable and tasteful in a musical setting.
Thx Tim & Pete for this wonderful look behind the musical curtain of session legend Michael Thompson. Such gr8 anecdotes. Best health & more power from Down Under to 3 of the best musicians still at it in 2020. pcHux.
With guys like Pierce and Thompson you really get a unique look into the many years of experience during the heydays of the music scene where it was still dominated by studios and producers and all it took was a lucky break to propel you into stardom. It could've happened to any one of us IF we had been at the right place at the right time and as you can tell these are just ordinary guys that love guitar just like me. It's really a shame that this is not the way it is now nor will it ever be again but the beauty part of this show is the willingness of the guys to get together and share their experiences and give us a look at how it was on the inside. Great-great-great stuff!!! Keep these fantastic videos coming! Saludos desde Puerto Rico! Ciao!
I keep watching this video over and over again. I've been waiting for an interview with Michael Thompson forever. I've been searching for that famous tone Michael gets for quite some time.I hope that someday Michael Landau agrees to do a video with you guys.
Still a great commentary on tones and talent back in the day. Those tones are making a comeback, I think, partly because of this kind of documentation. Thanks Tim, Pete, and of course, Micheal!
What a wonderful lessons! Really appreciated you guys and modern technologies that made me watch this amazing video clip. Young guitar kids are so lucky because of living in a great world to learn everything through internet.
Now I know what I heard on Shania Twain's stuff (Mutt Lange!) . I've watched this one several times and it always sends me smiling through my day. THANKS! MT and you two are great and I appreciate your total love for sound, music and guitars!
This is such a great show! Michael is an incredible musician and until now there hasn't been much content of these great players apart from gear demos. Its a real pleasure getting to hear about your careers and finally hearing answers to the questions I've always wondered about. It would be great to see an episode with James Harrah, another incredible studio player that is often overlooked!
Deep respect in the room here - what a wonderful watch. Great history - great playing - great effects diagnosis!!! Funny how many people just use one or two patches in the H3000 but it's never exactly the same ones ... people tend to have favourites.
Thank you ever so much for this video!!! THAT's what I've been looking for in YT for a few years! So inspiring, full of lessons and experiences! Thank you also for attending one of my requests. I'll be here wating for an opportunity to watch another one with Michael (if possible), Michael Landau, Tom Bukovac and soooo many other stars! Thank you very much, guys! Wish to say so many other things, but I would take all night long! Please, take my good thoughts and words as a compliment, 'cause that's what it really is! ;)
My comment may not carry any weight but that was the best sit down conversation I've ever come across. Imagine you were sitting in a room full of friends who just happen to be the best at what they do, having a beer and just talking about the reasons we all play guitar. Now include topics that include some the best imaginations that have come down the pike. Wait a minute - that just happened except I wasn't actually in the room, and I don't really know these guys but this little video made me feel that way. Oh, by the way, I did get to have that beer though.
32:00 listen to his voice... man! he still have the whole vibe he was in. the nervous, the fear. but in the meantime, he totally knew what would be waiting for him tomorrow if he did it good. how amazing!
I think an invaluable lesson to take from this video and collectively from all thus far is to follow your ears when finding a sound that speaks to you and your playing. These older session guys didn't have the cult of fanaticism we have these days with flavor of the week pedals/amps/gears and wide spread reviews/forums etc. I feel often the ubiquity of information available online on what defines good tone is a blessing and a curse. On one end its allowed us to learn from the mistakes of others and more quickly access greater sounds but on the flip I think it stifles creativity and that individual quest for unique sounds and textures. A lot of these rigs shown on this show are ridiculously idiosyncratic and particular, often showcasing ugly duckling effects and/or amps and stuff that just works for the artist. So I guess I'm just saying, if you find something that sounds good, to you with or without a consensus agreeing on its greatness, embrace it! Great as always, thx!
Wow, these stories are incredible! This was by far my favorite show you guys have done. It was obvious how much fun you had. Would love more shows with LA session guys like this. Thanks!
Cheers!
Couldn't agree more.
Well said!!
There is a lot more talent in melodic sensibility than there is in pure technical prowess.
Chris Lester h
theres so many good players nowadays
Legend!
Now we want Huff and Landau please,,
The only thing I miss about recording in LA is when Michael was on the session, -best attitude, best spontaneous ideas, best tones, -just positive energy. Priceless! He definitely plays better while chewing gum :)
Proper musicians having fun trading tales and licks! Nothing more enjoyable, thank-you guys!
Yep
This episode should've been 4 hours long.
I wanted to listen to all the stories!
Brilliant people!
It's a rare opportunity to watch musicians of this caliber in such an honest and candid setting: with mutual admiration and respect. Tim, Pete and Michael, you guys are inspiring!!
Tim's solo was without question the most inspiring imo.
agreed!
Im with you... Taste and feel...such a great player!!
hey're all brilliant players, Petes easily the best rocker and can kill it live and writes great guitar parts but i dont think anyone come close to conveying the emotion of the song through the guitar parts like Tim , i love his playing. He has done the studio thing for so long he s just so good at it , following the chords and building a story with his phrases , he schooled them haha

But, having watched his video lessons for about a year now, you can absolutely feel a signature to his phrasing. [IMO] I always feel quite fortunate when he puts up a lesson.
PS no disrespect to the other guys they're all in another class as players - just this kind of thing seems to be Tims forte
It's great to watch how much fun Tim Pierce has when he plays - pure JOY ! ;)
Off work this afternoon as its persisting down like usual in the sunny uk and watching this with a brew has cheered me up no end
To All of the people that were in this video, Thank You Very Much, I Learned A Bunch of things, And I enjoyed that everyone played a guitar that was not their guitar, with high action.. that shows people that you have the Talent to do what you do best, Play guitar,

Thank you all, so much for having such a good time and enjoying yourselves and appreciating each other and wonderful gorgeous sounds and as Steve Martin would say, superb note choicements! LOL
I'm so buying the new Vibrato pedal.
Oh my god. Best episode ever! Tim is a pure delight to watch play! His smile makes it such an event. I liked Pete’s solo the best, but watching Tim makes me wish I was there. Wow, I learned SO much from Michael! What an amazing video! I can’t decide what my favorite part was!

Thanks for letting me sit in. It's great listening to 3 master craftsmen talking about their art with the tidbits about the tools & mindsets involved. Thanks.
I've watched this episode at least 25 times... One of the best guitar related interviews on the interweb .... Cheers
That tone at 5:49 is SPECTACULAR!!! What a spacey, ethereal, beautiful sound! Keep it up Pete and Tim!
Wish I could give this vid 2 thumbs up. Had to watch again. We need more Tim and Pete show
What an inspiring episode. Thanks! The gear/patches breakdown, to the never before seen, three guitarists, one guitar, one sound, one track... So cool!

I’ve watched this video so many times ... must be one of the best guitar videos online
So much history and cool tips ... plus it’s just three bad asses chilling
Pete, this episode is groundbreaking! When he played that chord there was so much 90s nostalgia in it! Love it, thanks for this!
5:45 THERE IT IS !!! That specific sound has been a HUGE part of my musical life. ❤️
Are this chords used in a specific song?
This show just gets better and better! Amazing to watch the tracking with the same guitar. More of this please! Thanks for doing this Tim and Pete.
Tim and Pete I absolutely love these shows! Please keep them coming. Not only are they all inspiring but extremely entertaining and very informational. Plus they have also opened my eyes and ears to new artist and new gear! Thank you guys for all that you do! -Jimmy
Michael is such a cool person and great musician !
+Khoa Truong he truly is!
You guys hit it out of the park with this one!! Tim you killed it! Michael thank-you for giving up your years of tonequesting with us, You truly are a TONEMEISTER!! THANKS , do more of these going to other Tonesmiths houses/ studios love seeing all their shit. too cool.
I am so glad I am not a TV addict. I'd never have seen this gem. This is such a better way to spend your spare time. Great video.
Awesome job! Thanks, so much, for taking all the time and energy to put this together. The show has become my "most look forward to." Couldn't ask for more.
This is the best show ever! And in each episode it gets better and better and better!!! Thanks a lot, Tim and Pete!!! :)
Thanks Javier!
Watching all 3 of these masters improvise on the fly at the end was the COOLEST PART! It's the essence of what makes these session-men great.
What a great room for us to be a fly on the wall. LOTS of talent, knowledge and history there. So awesome to see these 3 together.
Always watch using really good headphones to get the absolute out of the experience.
I LOVE these shows!
Great Video, as usual!
It would be great if, for the "next heroes", we may have as follows:
1) Mike Landau
2) Steve Lukather
3) Jay Graydon
4) Dean Parks
5) Larry Carlton

I don't think Steve Luke is a good idea if he's not in the mood though..well, imo
...or Richie Blackmore in a bad mood!
and dann huff
That was awesome. I love hearing the stories and watching their technique. Good for Pete to take the challenge! I also liked how he asked to hear each layer of effects separately. This video was fun to watch. Thanks!
I have watched this a least 7 times! So much information !
Thanks guys, love the show! You have hit it dead on!
Every episode it gets better
Best guitar show on YT!
Tim's solo is the best!
You guys should have Greg Koch on the next episode.
Greg Koch!!! + 1!!!
Pete nor Tim would never get a word in an hour long interview. Greg is like Robbin Williams or Jonathan Winters. You just wind him up and let him go. It wouldn't be an interview as much as a show. He is great.
I wouldn't mind, he is that great, hahahah.
OH MAN. That would be insane!
Nailed another one boys. I think everyone who plays, dreams of these situations where you can exchange ideas so freely. To see it done by top professionals and feel like your their hanging out is just nuts. Thank you
That is fantastic! So much experience shared in this video. Thank you! 3 great players trading solos is always wonderful.
.
+Denis M thanks Denis!
Michael and Pete's solos were the shit but when Tim started playing..man.. That just moved me. What a master. Thank you guys so much for this show, it is such a huge inspiration to keep learning.

It is just so cool seeing you guys all together talking and playing. And more often than not I get goose bumps at some point when u guys play. THANKS.
Thanks!
This is, hands down, one of the most incredible and informative interviews I've seen in forever. So fantastic, seeing all three of you taking a pass at that solo. Feel free to do ten more with Michael! Though, they've all been great. Thank you, for doing these videos!
the last 5 minutes of this video are the best. 3 great guitar players making up a solo each! love it.
It Might Get Loud always pops into my head when thinking about guitars and guitar playing. This is right up there.
More than ever.. the Tim and Pete show needs to do a compilation album with all the guests you've had. I would buy that in a minute.
What more can I say Michael hits the exact spot for me as a musician. Creation of sounds that move you!! Great devotion to your craft guys. love it. Give me more!
Legends! All three of you. Thanks for the best guitar show on UA-cam!
Thanks much!!!
I'm watching this video for what must be the 9-10 time . Popped in to check something about the vb-2 and just watched from the beginning again
36:00 I think this is the part Pete was talking about from MusicIsWin's channel, for anyone coming from that video.
Mike Clark about jamming impromptu??
Yeah, about when he said that musicians have alot of different takes and people only get to see the best of them most of the time. Even though he said this was one of his "First Takes" he still sounds awesome.
Mike Clark thanks, I was about to give up at the fifteen minute mark, then saw your comment.
Michael Thompson...I remember when you had long hair. What a great talent in the studio.
For those who come from the video Pete Thorn has Nerves of Steel, the Pete's solo with a high action guitar starts at 36:41
Wow, very cool! I love it!
It is so cool to meet these amazing studio musicians that have given color and expertise to thousands of albums.
I have been burning up the web, looking for "guitar knowledge". These guys have it!! What a great session!!! Thanks and keep on rockin✌
Wow....this was something special!
so happy when these come out. you guys feel like my buddies
Best health & more power from Down Under to 3 of the best musicians still at it in 2020. pcHux.
Studio magic tricks~! So great to see and hear all these discussed in detail. Best guitar series on the planet~! Well Done~!
That was like watching 3 Jedi's banging heads with each other. Absolutely fantastic!
I keep watching this video over and over again. I've been waiting for an interview with Michael Thompson forever. I've been searching for that famous tone Michael gets for quite some time.I hope that someday Michael Landau agrees to do a video with you guys.
The best episode yet! Thanks for doing this......Makes my coffee taste great while listening to the pros!!! Inspired!
Great as usual! All three were great. You can feel the passion in everybody's playing.
By far my favorite episode. There is a wealth of information and 3 very different yet very insightful perspectives. Nice work guys!
Wow. Wonderful to watch. Thanks
Still a great commentary on tones and talent back in the day. Those tones are making a comeback, I think, partly because of this kind of documentation.
Thanks Tim, Pete, and of course, Micheal!
Fantastic episode! The talent level in that room was exploding from the screen.
Okay, this was my favorite. Particularly the end when all three soloed with the same guitar. Amazing!
Thanks Rick!
The pleasure.....it was all mine. Haha.
Yes indeed, thanks for sharing! I could not stop watching! Priceless information and very entertaining! Once again THANKS!
Absolutely fantastic!
Each solo sounded amazing, you thought can't get any better and then Tim pulled out that one, awesome.
This is the best one so far. Thompson really is a genius. I loved Pete really geeking on the H3000. Awesome
I love this channel. And Thompson is so much fun, in part because he has so much fun. He's like a kid.
Love being a "fly on the wall" for these get togethers, so cool, learn so much.
My Favourite episode thus far ! Incredible
Please, take my good thoughts and words as a compliment, 'cause that's what it really is! ;)
Thanks!
Please do more of these types of shows/interviews/storytelling/demos! Fantastic stuff!
That was so great watching three guys really rock it on same guitar same gear.
Another excellent and inspirational show!!! I appreciate what you guys do. It was just plain fun to watch and listen.
Awesome as usual Pete. All you're solo's were great and it's always inspiring watching and listening to you.
What a treat this series is. Thank you so much guys
Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this!
This is the BEST guitar show. THANK YOU!
Thanks!!
What a great dude. I sit here thoroughly entertained.
I could watch these 3 guys non stop.
Wow, these stories are incredible! This was by far my favorite show you guys have done. It was obvious how much fun you had. Would love more shows with LA session guys like this. Thanks!
I think this is my favorite episode so far.
