I look at HDR as an important tool but you have to be careful for when and how much. When I first got my oled 4 years ago I was so impressed with inky blacks (it was actually crushing out of the box..yikes) and the near blinding highlights as well...but I came to realize that it's honestly just harsh and fatiguing on the eyes. Traditional cinema has always been about getting a pleasant looking GLOW from a reflected light I appreciate when filmmakers like Nolan work to respect that aesthetic when they bring a movie to home video.
@@hdmoviesource Yep the LG C9! Still a heck of a TV even though they get a little better each year. Starting to feel a slight itch to upgrade but I'm gonna be patient and wait for something that's too good to refuse in terms of performance/price ratio. Maybe next year. I know one thing for sure I much prefer the older and "simpler" LG webOS on the C9. The newer models have a bulky user interface and you have to go hunting really deep inside a lot of menus to find settings now. Have a good day HDMS!
SHALLOW FOCUS has existed long before digital. Shallow focus (don't call it portrait focus), shallow focus does not require as much light. DEEP FOCUS (when everything is in focus) requires a LOT more light, something Orson Welles popularized.
Appreciate these reviews it's a pleasure to listen to someone with genuine passion for movies and tech. There have been a lot of great 4ks this year but this one has to be up there in the running for best overall right? Nothing better than when you can get a compelling film with excellent audio and video all working in tandem together. 👏
Thank you Carl for your review. I bought the Oppenheimer disc today and I will watch it on the weekend. Greetings from Austria (Europe)
Thanks Dan, I appreciate that, I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks Carl, amazing release. This disc kicked my subwoofer’s butt.
Thanks Adam, yeah, it's a real butt kicker, LOL.

What did you get a C9? I have a C9 OLED. I agree with you Chroma.

I agree, from what I've heard, 2025 looks to be the year to upgrade. That about the time I'm planning to upgrade.

Yeah, I'm just referring. the style of focus to things that I know. But, I really love this style of focus.

Oh there's so much I'm going to struggle to make a top 10.
@@hdmoviesource I hope you will do a video on that. Everyone loves a good top 10 list and discussion.
I will definitely try.
Yep I agree bought the steelbook thanks for your review
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks Australia.

Glad you liked it. Thank you.
@@hdmoviesource yet to watch full. Half done.
Let me know what you think.
Some reviewers talk of flickering. What is meant with that ?
The image actually flickers, kinda like an old projector.
Thank you, Carl.
Thanks Cheekster, I really enjoyed this one.
