- I use Fords J2534 software to reprogram a used PCM for a 2006 F250 Gas 5.4, I have used IDS before with the VCMII, this is very similar.

Thanks for the videos I'm actually tinkering with my Mazda 3 base model. I got a new steering wheel with all the controls to replace my basic empty wheel and what I'm trying to get working is cruise control. I have the brake sensor installed and most of the cables in the steering wheel installed but the cruise is not working. Do I have to reprogram that and if so is it easy to do? I thought it was plug and play.
Thank You for the great video and information. My truck is a 2003 ford f150 with the pats. when you reprogram for the pats, are you reprogramming the the pcm or the pats? Can you take a used pcm and install it and reprogram it with the pats so that it will work. Remove it and replace it with the old pcm and it works? The reason I ask is that I moved to Central America and some day the pcm will die. If had a spare it would be great. The ford dealership is about 3 hours away from me. Or can the pats be done on the bench, not in the truck. Again Thank You
Great video! Any suggestions on troubleshooting the dreaded DB install error when installing FJDS? Some computers there is no problem and others FJDS (same install file) can’t download the DB. Not sure if it’s related the the adobe svg viewer install and activex.

Didn't work kicked me back to the main start session screen after the first attempt and failure to communicate. Ford updated their software to bypass this? I am in Canada as well.
I am going to reflash the original PCM that came with the Lincoln LS. Will the program bring up the proper part # and tear tag #, or will I have to get access to the PCM and copy the info down before I attempt to do this?

Okay this is the situation 2008 Ford F-53 RV with 6.8L V10 the PCM is burn also the Instrument Cluster right know the PCM is unavailable so we get the same number PCM but is for a F-350 with 6.8L V10 know this is the situation the junkyard has PATS the RV doesn’t have Anti -Theft ... READ THIS! Just had to put PCM in Son-in-laws 2013 F150 3.5 Eco Boost for coil driver malfunction Cyl 1+2 dead. (P2300-P2303) I used IDS with VCMii and 115.01. (China full chip) Got a used PCM but was unable to write a new VIN to it. PCM was exact part numbers DL3A-12650-EE that was the latest update. Could not write VIN to it using PMI. would shut off power to PCM when I tried to use it. HOW TO: Install PCM from Junk yard with the correct P/N and program Pats keys. It will show a code of P160a Module ID miss match. It will start and run but will have the wrong VIN. Ok unless you have emissions test to get through. To write the correct VIN to the PCM, load a session in IDS with the correct VIN. Go to Powertrain, Service function, Relearn Vehicle Data. This will write PCM VIN and other data from the BCM to the PCM. BOOM! correct VIN in a Junk yard PCM. I just did it. No promises on different IDS versions or Model years/vehicles but it worked for me.

I tried reprogramming a used PCM on 2003 F450 SD 6.0L whereas the original unit is damaged and does not communicate. Being scarce and expensive in the used market, I took a chance and bought one from same year and model, but different part numbers on the prefix and suffix. Also original unit is dpu-232 and the replacement is dpu-232a and I can't find any clarification about this.
during reprogramming, I never saw a screen showing "erasing" and I never saw a screen for entering the axle ratio and tire size. At the end of this process, a different part number was shown. I found a site that lists the PCM part numbers and gives info if it has updates as it shows the part number for that update. I found both of my numbers and followed the trail where they both end at the same number with no further update, this is the same number given by FJDS after reprogramming.
is this a verification that a used PCM of different numbers can be interchangeable for reprogramming ? For example, I examine the situation before buying on a gamble. I follow original number to the end and work backwards from that number to see all the other part numbers that end at the same.
I wish I could say I am successful right now, but there's other issues with this truck that need to be fixed before it can be test driven.
Also, I assume the FICM and TCM need to be reprogrammed / updated with this process. Am I correct?
Tools used is FJDS and Autel MaxiSys Elite J2534 VCI

I've got a 2010 Ford F150 FX2 with a 5.4L. The tag under the hood says it should have had a 4.6L. Called Ford and they can't tell me based on the vin# why the tag under the hood doesn't say the 5.4 thats in it. The info on the PCM says 4.6L. Will changing the motor size on the PCM to a 5.4L mess up anything. The truck runs perfect and couldn't understand this difference. The truck is all original for what I know and I bought it used from Ford dealer. Any advice on this.
My Keys FOB dont work on my Ford Kuga MK1. I've been told there is a problem with the Confort Module. Can I manually enter the keys radio codes ?

What about the mileage? Are you able to type the correct vehicle mileage into a used pcm this way? Example: vehicle has 133k actual, used pcm has 152k.

Hey. I have a 2013 F-150 STX 4x4. I have one of the very few that Ford produced that is a non SST truck. I am desperately trying to wake that option up and dealerships aren't much help. Of my PCM were to be reprogrammed and treated as though it were a replacement I don't know if SST is one of those questions or not. I do know when I go to motorcraftservice.com/asbuilt I know there are 9 lines of PCM modules lines. Are those lines as built lines in the PCM? If so could you show how to do as built on a PCM. I can do all other modules with ForScan free software but not the PCM. I want to know how to make my PCM mimic another very similar truck of the same year.
Yes I have the instrument cluster for an SST truck. Yes I have the shifter. What I don't have is what I need to tell the dealership verbatim what I want.
Does the J2534 device have to be name brand? I have a basic USB/OBD2 Mini VCI that I bought off Ebay years ago.
I recommend you use a validated J2534 device.
Can you offer service for a pcm I need?
So, where did FJDS get it's odometer information? Did it populate that number from the instrument cluster, did you enter it or is it going to show the incorrect mileage from the donor vehicle? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I did all the steps you did but after inputing the vin and selecting reprogram PCM all I got was "The current session does not match this vehicle, In order to properly diagnose this vehicle start a new session. $50 wasted :(
Where can I find to download a fjds software for my laptop? And, can I access to clear the KAM values on the shifting of my 2013 Fusion? It shifts hard from previous owner. So I want it to relearn my driving style. I dont drive hard like the previous owner. It shifts hard sometimes. Let me know if this can be done. Thanks.
Motorcraftservice.com, FJDS will not clear KAM on a 2013 Fusion, IDS will.
this fjds software work with any j2534(including chinese)
I took an 99 Explorer engine and put it in an old Bronco. I’d like to remove PATS or covert it to a fob/wireless as well as remove the ABS, airbags and other things not needed. Can I do that with this system?
No. FJDS and IDS are factory tools, no factory tool will delete theft on any car.
I'm replacing my PCM in my 2018 transit connect and have a question. First, can I copy the current flash and write it to the new PCM? And my van has PATS system and misplaced the key with the power door locks and only have my non power lock (dumb) key will it still work?
You could clone the module, you will need the proper tools and knowledge to do so, this is not possible to clone without specialized EEPROM equipment and knowledge. Many Ford vehicles will require 2 keys when relearning a replacement PCM, if cloning is done, that would not be needed. If using a J2534 device to simply program a replacement unit, then you may need 2 keys, you would have to reference service information to confirm.

Where is your shop? I would bring my 2004 Grand Marquis to you. I have a problem where the idle speed drops from 800 to about 500 rpm after coming to a stop and about 20 seconds go by. Then the car often shudders when you take off. I get a p0355 code on the scanner when the engine light comes on. That indicates a problem with the #5 cylinder. I've replaced all plugs, all coils, throttle control valve, idle position sensor, vacuum checked for leaks, sprayed contact cleaner on the coil connections, tried 2 bottles of fuel injector cleaner, all failed to solve the problem. Just got turned down for service by Palmetto Ford in Miami, said they've never changed a PCM. Was turned down by two other Ford dealers, one who had an 07 Grand Marquis with 35K and told me they can't fix it. Mine has 230,000 miles. PLEASE contact me, and thanks. Tom in Miami

If you just did a reprogram, then it should change the number, thats the point.

@@dooglepadoogle3091 Those number the xxxx-12a650-xx found on Ford's PCMs are the flash number or part number of the PCM as, on the outside of the module it will have its original flash number or part number but the actual FLASH number could change when you reflash / reprogram (used interchangeable). Look at reprogramming a PCM as updates to the module because that update, flash, program whatever you wanna call it, will address problems that ford has found with the previous part or flash number so what you're doing when you program / flash the module you are in fact updating the flash / part number and therefore it will change to reflect the current updated number after it's been done so next time you read it with IDS the original part number will no longer match the updated one and its usually just the last 2 letters for example 3c3a-12a650-AA is repalced by 3c3a-12a650-AB and 3c3a-12a650-ab is replaced by 3c3a-12a650-AC and so on and so on....... you get what I'm saying? Anyways, anyone please correct me.

A PMI is the best process to use if the old module still communicates.

So here's my issue. Followed this procedure... except it is a pats ranger. When I finish it all starts and runs. But the shift lock solenoid will not let it come out of park. Install the original "bad" pcm. Reprogram it and pats. It starts and comes out of park.

Usually a used wrong module or a tuner has been installed and permanently changed the modules identification ID.

Not sure with Ford but I had my MDI installed on the same hard drive as Techstream, and did see it listed in the device list for Techstream, so it is listed as a j2534 device in the registry.

The PCM may have been updated once before, that changes the part number when you update it.

You will need to actually program the module to the car, an adaptive relearn will not work. The VCX nano is a Chinese ripoff, with pirated software and will not program the module. It would be much better if you got an actual validated J2534 device and paid for the subscription to be able to program the module.

Currently IDS is on version 110.05 so you will need at least version 110.00 to complete any immobilizer or programming functions.
i can do immobiliser and programming function ive done bcm and key programming i reprogrammed a used pcm and put the correct vin in for the vehicle but it didnt change the vin it still got the vin from the used pcm wich is wrong for the vehicle do u no y it hasnt change i follow ur video to a t
In your first question you asked about a NEW PCM, not USED, a used PCM can not be used on a newer ford.
oh my bad i meant a used pcm and its of the same year vehicle the original one got fried so i got a secondhand one from scrap yard but i need to change the vin in it to match the vehicle vin
I’m trying to reprogram a 03 6.0 ecm. I do the whole thing leaving the key off so it thinks there’s a new ecm. I put in the old ecm once I get to the pmi then it has me install new ecm I get to key on the key off then a second key off then I get 14-0x0 852082 every time help please
IDS/FJDS has issues, it may be something with the software.

Most of the time yes, sometimes no.

Do you need keys that match the replacement pcm? Or does this process reprogram the keys also?
No, a parameter reset is required to initiate the handshake between all the immobilizer related modules. Then keys must be learned, there is a lot more to this job than I show, service information must be followed carefully otherwise it will no start.

@@L1Training how exactly, I bought a used TCM for my Fiesta . How ever it didn't work for my car after installing. But when I installed in a Ford focus it worked perfectly. My mechanic says that is happening because perhaps it has been programmed to work with focus and not fiesta . Is there a way to flush out programming and reprogram it for my car ?

@@L1Training It no longer works with the new update. As soon as you try to program, it tells you that the BCM has a different Vin and to start a new session or recode the BCM.

Does nothing for vehicles that don't list a later calibration and fjds is going to see the Vin mismatch and stop. Worthless.
Incorrect on both accounts. PMI will work even if both modules are completely up to date, VIN changes during VID block write during PMI and it only updates software on later builds. Also, relearn vehicle data on later models will correct VIN from BCM data. FJDS can still be used as long as the wrong VIN is never detected, which is why we leave the key off.
@@L1Training pmi? You're on fjds and I'm on fjds. Once it connects to the used PCM and sees the VIN is not the same as what you entered it shuts down "current session does not match vehicle." On top of that after all the pcm data is input it going to check for a calibration based on that data and if it's the latest one that's exactly what it's going to say. "Latest calibration" shut down. Correct on both accounts.
Re-read what I said, rewatch the video...... Can't help you more than that, I program hundreds of Fords every year.
