I am a veteran with PTSD and several years ago I was within minutes of doing something permanent and final. A song popped up in my yt feed that I had never heard of, by a band I'd never heard of. Somehow this song auto-played, which shouldn't have happened because auto-play was turned off. The MV for this song had just come out and that is what I heard. The band was Lovebites and the song was Rising. As I listened to the words it was like Asami grabbed me by the back of the neck and said, nope, you're not going there. I have since bought every CD they have put out and they are always able to bring me back from the edge when the darkness comes. Do I love this band? I owe them my life
Welcome back guys.. This is a great song, nice to see another side of Lovebites, Class, beautie and tallent with no egos.. Do some more, there is alot to see.. Best wishes from France..
Lovebites slipped past Iron Maiden as my favorite band which is saying a lot since Maiden was my favorite since 1982. Check out Soldier Stand Solitarily. Absolute killer song.
Music by Miyako & Asami, lyrics by Asami. Miyako is releasing an EP of piano covers next month. Songs will include " Battery " ( Metallica), " The Loner " ( Gary Moore ), " Far Beyound the Sun " ( Yngwie Malmsteen ), " Eagle Fly Free " ( Helloween ), " Burn ( Deep Purple ), & " Addicted " ( LoveBites ). Have you guys heard her slay the piano? Try " Chopin Intro + Swan Song, " live from 2020.
Lovebites have only a handful of songs that are similar to others in their catalogue. They tell us plainly at every live show “we are Lovebites, and we play Heavy Metaaaaaaal”. They are their own genre. Miyako (white beanie hat) was thinking of Motörhead when she wrote this, and I’m pretty sure that Motörhead is probably unknown to the bassist Fami who is only 20, but it must have been someone in the band’s idea for the intro as a nod to Lemmy, turning everything up to 11.
yea one day in practice, Haruna experimented with the limits of her speed and the whole band came out of the rehearsal room roughly 3 years younger that day.
Lovebites always makes us happy and smile. Hope this song and the new album push them higher in the global music scene. Thank you for your analysis and sincere comments again.
I believe they "look younger" because for one, this is the first video they've made without their white. The way they are dressed in street clothes is refreshing, as is this music video. Great reaction to a great band & song.
Not the first. They made a number of videos from Live From Abyss, which was just live in the studio, all during COVID. They did Burden of Time, Shadowmaker, and a Helloween cover. Burden of Time is a must-see, especially as Miyako plays both the keyboard and guitar at the same time.
Thank you for following LOVEBITES at all times. Please continue to support LOVEBITES. 【From an interview with Asami(Vo) and Fami(Ba) for a magazine project in Japan】 When Covid19 subsided and the audience was able to speak up, Asami thought it would be nice to have a song that everyone could sing, both on stage and in the audience. Asami wanted to use the sound of "river" in the lyrics, but thought it would be strange to use "river" as the chorus. Asami found "deliver" and thought it would be cool if everyone shouted it out instead of just telling what the word means. For many Japanese, pronouncing and hearing the English "r" and "l" is difficult. From there, Asami arrived at "stand and deliver. "Stand and deliver" is a pirate term that apparently means "Leave all your money!" Asami thought that if he wrote the lyrics as they were, it would be a song about a "pirate king. Asami wanted to avoid that. Asami learned that "deliver" can also mean "to carry out" or "to be free" in addition to "to deliver. Asami uses "Stand and deliver" with the following interpretation and meaning. Stand up and be free! Rise up and be free! Arise and be free! Let's get up and be free! From there, Asami put the following thoughts into the lyrics. Nothing satisfies me. It's boring to be like this every day! Let's go more bouncy! Let's be bold and do something different! Let's break out of our shell! P.S. The mic stand setting that Miyako(G-Piano-Black hair) used was too high for Asami(Vo). Asami is very cute.
Love you guys reaction, and I knew this one would get you because you are musicians. You guys are really following my interests, subbing was a good idea ;0). One note, several times Chris has mentioned Haruna using the ride bell. She very seldom uses that. She has a Sabian Ice Bell she uses instead - you can see it inverted down low on top of another cymbal above her Floor Tom. That might be why she is Sabian supported, because Zildjian Zyl Bells suck in comparison. And Haruna LOVES that Ice Bell. Note 2: those high notes Asami hits in the Chorus and just before the solos is a G5 ! ! 🤘🐺🤘
Some Japanese bands, old and new. Take your pick: BAND-MAID [All their songs... really!], LOVEBITES [Break the Wall, Raise some Hell, and all the other songs], BABYMETAL [All their songs, because they are all different], MAXIMUM THE HORMONE [Yoshu Fukushu], DEXCORE [Earthworm], CROSSFAITH [Catastrophe], SiM [Killing Me], NINGEN ISU [Heartless Scat], UNLUCKY MORPHEUS [Black Pentagram], YOUSEI TEIKOKU [Astral Dogma, Patriot Anthem (Live)], COLDRAIN [Die Tomorrow], CRYSTAL LAKE [The Circle], GIVEN BY THE FLAMES [Ronove], LONESOME_BLUE [Face the Fear], ANGRY FROG REBIRTH [2Step Syndrome], SILENTLY SHOOTING TRAITORS [Manipulate], ALDIOUS [Dominator], TRiDENT [Ambivalent, Spoopy, ...], BRIDEAR [Light in the Dark], CINQ ELEMENT [Destiny], MARY'S BLOOD [Marionette], GRAUPEL [Bereavement], DOLL$BOXX [Take my Chance], SOKONINARU [Tenohira De Odoru], HELLO SLEEPWALKERS [Flying Saucer], TELECiDE [Tied up Memories], NEKO [Ghost on a Record], MERGINGMOON [Greyen], ROTTENGRAFFTY [Hallelujah], JILUKA [Mephisto, Overkill], BROKEN BY THE SCREAM [Emotion Cross-Counter], FATE GEAR [Unbreakable Wings], LYNCH [Devil], GACHARIC SPIN [Mindset], DIR EN GREY [Ningen wo Kaburu], X JAPAN [Kurenai], DAZZLE VISION [Second], DEVILOOF [Torture], JUPITER [My Enemy], NOKUTO [Life of Desire], GALNERYUS [Angel of Salvation], SAISEIGA [Ride On], BLOOD STAIN CHILD [Del-Sol], NEMOPHILA [Rise, Hypnosis], DADAROMA [Lucid Dream], JILUKA [Overkill, or Lluvia], HANABIE [We Love Sweets], A CROWD OF REBELLION [Re:Create of the Re:d], PALEDUSK [Area PD], POLKADOT STINGRAY [any song], MUTANT MONSTERS [Abnormal], BLACKLAB [Insanity], ASTERISM [Rising Moon, Unravel, or Church], NOISEMAKER [Hunter or Prey], BiSH [The Night When Stars Twinkle], SCANDAL [A.M.D.K.J.], DEEP GIRL [I kill], Mrs. GREEN APPLE [Inferno], BRATS [Doudatte Yokatta], THE ORAL CIGARETTES [Frenzy Hey Kids!!], GIRUGAMESH [Drain], LiLiHoLi [From Darkness to Light], THE DEVIL’S KILLING MERRY-GO-ROUND [Diabolos], OTOBOKE BEAVER [Love is Short], and many many more...
Not sure about that. I know Fami can play guitar, Miyako can probably play everything, and Asami can play piano. I'm not sure about Midori, but Haruna looked lost with that bass ;). They are all great, though.
@@danbuter Asami can play piano, and a ballet dancer. Fami also plays piano and guitar, is a singer and composer, Haruna also plays piano, Miayko, can probably play everything besides guitar, piano, bass and drums ..lol. Midori I'm not to sure honestly.
Welcome back to Lovebites guys… and a new band for you … Asterism… a three piece metal band from Japan with an incredible talent… you guys have to react to them… you won’t be disappointed… I recommend a song called Dawn live 2019…
Really enjoying your reactions. You’re not only knowledgeable but quite personable as well. I’m a classical and world musician with over 40+ years of professional experience but I never forgot, or let go of, my rock roots growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, and you know the great bands from that era. For something very different from Lovebites, try “A Frozen Serenade.” In my humble opinion it is a masterpiece belonging up there with some iconic songs.
Most of them are in their early 30's, the bassist is 20. Except for the singer they are all multi-instrumentalists, though they no longer play some of the instruments.
Can totally relate with what you said about band rehearsals and occupying the drum seat 😆. There's many "behind the scene" shootings as bonus of their DVD/blurays, so we're familiar with their behaviour (especially Miyako, who's very different on stage than in private), and it's one more reason to really love that band.
You should search out her gear talks, she is quite the nerd on guitar tech. The Dean in the video has 4 tone knobs, but actually only 3 works, the last is purposely disconnected 😃 Also the condensators inside have been replaced for a beefier tone.
I wonder if switching instruments is a "thing". Band-Maid did it too but not in an official video. It was just them having fun video twitter or something. I can't remember. But anyway, t his is a great song and loving the new album so far.
Not thrash, more like D-Beat. Hardcore UK Punk circa 1980. Sounds like Discharge, but more melodic. The chorus, not so much, that's more power metal. I love how they can mix and match genres seamlessly.
Great reaction guys! My favourite song on the album, it's so much fun. Please can you check out another Japanese band called SAISEIGA, too. The MV for their song "Jumble" is a good place to start. Cheers!
The burgundy 5-string bass used by bassist Fami is made by "Freedom," a Tokyo-based workshop specializing in custom guitars. It is a model of the "Rhino" series named Sasuke/Rosewood. Fami signed a contact for the "Bacchus Handmade Series signature headless bass WOODLINE5AC-HL Fami" at the age of 19. Fami ordered a 4-string custom made bass. It is made by Freedom, a Tokyo-based workshop specializing in custom guitars. It will be delivered around this summer.
You should check out another groundbreaking Japanese band called "Maximum the Hormone". Really fun and high energy. I would recommend their song "Yoshu Fukushu" as the best to start off with.
Another super fun Lovebites song is Raise Some Hell live. I think you guys would enjoy it. Also, I'm curious as to why your drummer doesn't make reaction videos with you.
Good question. Due to the recording space we have and his availability its easier for the two of us to get together. We'll get him in one at some point!
