There is a reason aliens always invade the USA they cannot beat Finland
As the telephone polls fall, the army just yell "ET, go phone home!!!!" Also, the forest is not gone, just changed from a forest of trees, to a forest of telephone polls.
"I want to leave chaos when leaving" says wander after calling down hundreds of telephone poles and meteors and just leaving them there
I am in fact Finnish, and a game designer/artist too :P The environment looks so stereotypically Finnish to me that the chests and portals stick out like a sore thumb. Meteoriittimyrskyjoukkue is literally "Meteoroid storm unit", the Finnish language is very fond of just stringing words together to form new words. And Nokia is indeed a Finnish company.
Interesting enough demo, but looks like it's going to need quite a bit of work to get the gameplay to have actual challenge and still remain fun, not to mention visual clarity
"finland called...they said DIE"...worst part of this? They called collect...
Suomi mainittu! Torillla tavataan!
Anyways, not only do we have Sisu but we can become incredibly belligerent when provoked and we do have one of the better basic military training regiments in the world.
regarding the telephone poles: makes me think of the old shadowrun boards where "thor shots" (orbital kinetic weapons that are dropped on a target) are sometimes known as "tungsten telephone poles" because that's more or less the shape of them. but yeah, basically should be causing massive damage.
Yeah, basically they are kinetic nukes. Different from rail guns because they just use gravity instead of magnets.
When the full game comes out, we need a series on this!
Ah, the 'rods from god' concept. Telephone pole sized tungsten rods placed in orbit, and then you just drop them on the target. The kinetic energy delivered is somewhere around 12 tons of TNT equivalent with good penetration (for defeating bunkers) and no explosive residue or UXO potential.
AKA Thor's javelins. I believe it was conceived by Jerry pournelle.
"At the same time, I'm not passing up extra attack speed, because.... Yeah."
Yeah... :P This game is nutty, absolutely amazing :P
It's all fun and games until the snow starts speaking Finnish.
The whole thing about Finnish snipers being terrifying is definitely what popped into my head when I noticed this video
The balance of this game feels like risk of rain lol
the day the telephonepoles fell.... everything changed
also i love the "im going insane" laugh
Hey Wander, if you want to know why attacking finland is not a good idea, just look up Simo Häyhä.
Hey wow, thanks for this comment! I hadn't heard of him so I just read up about him, thought "Sabaton should do a song about this guy", discovered they already did (!!!), and have been enjoying a few times in a row. :)
@@jRoy7 I know. White Death is one of my favorite songs
Rods from gods except the rods are telephone poles lol
"You've got a call!"
"OH fuuuu-"
Yo wanderbot keep up the good content man love your videos
you can tell when wander has a good time when he starts drunken rambling and laughing
You know Wanderbot has fun when he sounds more and more like the trench coat guy reading a book in the Mr Bean train journey skit, marvelous!
Finland here. We have this thing called sisu. Thats why we are so capable
Oh I've heard of sisu from xPetu.
Finland is great! They have a good wages / cost of living ratio, many homes are equipped with a sauna, and they have a really great comics and graphic novels scene. A lot of successful indie comic authors come out of Finland and there's a great national appreciation for comics that you don't see in America. It's easier to get grants and other funding for that sort of thing. Oh! And they've got a lot of alternative food products that accommodate people with all kinds of allergies! No boxed cake mixes, though.
Ah, the one massive downside at the end there! Unlivable!
also great snipers
Actually I've watched this video from Scott Manley all the way back in 2013 where he went over this concept about kinetic bombardment from orbit using tungsten telephone pole sized rods. It's a concept for long range weapon that first came up in the 1950s.
Funny to see a game using that idea.
Totally accurate Finland simulator.
Ah yes, EDF
Earth defense Finland
A game that uses rods from gods. The satellite plan that would drop tungsten rods that would be like nukes on impact
The telephone poles in space is a reference to a 1980s star wars program proposed orbital satellite with tungsten telephone pole sized rods that would be dropped onto a target from orbit. The sheer kinetic energy would create a massive crater on par with a large nuclear bomb without any radioactive fallout. AKA Rods from God.
"Finland called.....they said die" Wanderbots 2021
The title is basically the winter war in a nutshell :D
what is it with the Finnish having extremely powerful magic abilities in roguelikes
Considering the fact that Finland is an imaginary country to begin with, why not give them OP abilities? It's not like there are any real Fins that exist to raise any kind of substantiated protest.
@@wanderbots Well getting paid by the Finnish "government" to hide their magic wizards research by pretending to be from Finland is not a bad life for people thinking you aren't real.
Well, that sounds Finn... 😁
Love it, just my type of ridiculous.
The fact that his voice becomes more confused while playing Finnish game is hilarious. Also I'm Finnish.🇫🇮
Being from Norway I always wondered what the heck is with the finnish. Love finland, love the people beware the language...
Everytime i saw anything that has to do with with Finland, all in my head is "Rannikkojääkäri"
Also those telephone poles are probably refering to Orbital Kinetic Weaponry were you drop tungsten rods out of orbit which produces a lot of kinetic energy and i might even call it a nuke without the nuclear blasts and radioactive.
Humans never change, we just substitute poking hole in human body to poking hole into the human body from a safe distance to poking the earth itself from more distance.
the greatest pro-Finland propaganda ever made
Finland is awesome! Been living here for 2 years!
Also, S market is an actual supermarket in Finland too
Are all Finnish wizards so overpowered?
*noita flashbacks intensifies*
And then, years later, a tourist visits and wonders about those super durable telephone poles everywhere 😀
If real S-Markets would actually sell airstrikes... :D
I guess that's why in the movies Aliens land in the US and not Finland.
Wait I thought aliens only invaded USA.
Ye, only USA gets invaded by Aliens, only Japan students get isekaid, only Koreans get game systems, and only Chinese got cheap knockoffs of all others
Nah, USA became too hostile
@@bl4cksp1d3r At this point Finland seems more hostile.
Remember, Wander, when given the choice it is always better to be the side with orbital fire support.
Finland was ranked The best country 2019 by World economic Forum conference in Switzerland Davos and World happines index report and UN ranked Finland the happiest country 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. Why? Everybody can google about it. The list is long.
With al lthat snow, I would be surprised if there WEREN'T Finnish wizards!
Game looks fun but I really didn't like the music. Same "ding ding" sound over and over
One concrete rule of war since 1939 that the aliens are breaking is "Don't fuck with the Finns."
lol this is a risk of rain like kinda its awesome
Dude this game is nuts lmao
I love it.
@@wanderbots « Pole wizards, do you see the aliens ? »
« Yes we do. »
« I don’t want to. »
« Understood. »
*UNGODLY ORBITAL MAC BOMBARDMENT ON ALIENS LOCATION*
@@manofironthathasntturnedcr9817MAC ROUNDS IN ATOMSPHERE ARE YOU INSANE.
@@fuqu8983 I mean, they ARE Fins :V
Got less than 2mins in and I really want to play it. Curses I'm nowhere near my computer.. :(
You have to get creative to get over the polar night
(Kaamos) depression.
Finland called... they send die 12:10
I found this especially funny
Oversized telephone poles from space made of metal can destroy a city in one hit
Gandalf says, “They’re Fins you fools!”
Note to self avoid Finland at all costs 🙊🙊🙊🙊
There are some good moments in this video for shorts!
I thought this was that mechanical game that was also set in Finland
Nah that was set in Sweden
Guess the aliens are Finnished.
Uh yeah they have to hit me 3:48
Bruh
well now i know i shouldn't ever mess with fins unless i want to get crushed by a telephone pole
why changing the art? it looks awesome
At the very least it needs more environmental artwork and better/unique character sprites.
Finland has a lot of explaining to do
I think their explanation will contain expletives and orbital bombardments.
Easier than talking to a stranger.
you had to much fun with this one
Ah man, checking out your Going Under videos. When you stopped playing on the channel you still had 5 dungeons to get through and a number of new bosses and items and enemies and secrets to find. This is one of the freshest Roguelikes in years
