THE RIDGEWAY 2023 | Day 3 | cracking on…

In March 2023, I set off from Germany to walk the Ridgeway, an ancient road across high ground in the south of England covering around 90 miles (140 km). 2023 was the 50th anniversary establishment of the Ridgeway as a UK National Trail, and it was also the year of my 50th birthday, so walking the Ridgeway seemed like the thing to do. As well as for the adventure, I decided to raise money for Macmillan cancer support, a UK charity close to my heart.
I departed Avebury on Saturday 4 March 2023 at around 13:30hrs and reached the summit of ivinghoe Beacon on 8 March 2023 at around 13:30hrs.
This video covers the third leg of the walk, a 14 mile (22 km) stretch from Hill Barn Farm, Sparsholt Firs, to somewhere around Ashdown Hill, about 5 miles from the Thames.
The night following this leg was the first with snow, which persisted until the end.
