Just picked up the KM131R only days ago, now I'm more glad I went for the higher powered machine. But I knew I would be using a sweeper, blower, trimmer and saw attachments and more likely a brushing blade too. So I opted for the 131R.
Great job guy, thanks for sharing in your video here 👍

You've saved me some money. Thanks for sharing as I was going to buy this for the pole saw attachment, but seeing how slow it cuts through I think I'll have to look for a different setup.

I’d be very curious to see you do that test again after putting 5 or more tanks of fuel through it. Every Stihl 2 stroke I’ve had (typically chainsaws) have had significant power increase as they broke in, as is typically of most 2 strokes. I would think that putting some hours on the extension might loosen it up as well, and hence draw less power from the engine (less sure of this as I’ve never had the Kombi system). I’m seriously thinking of buying a Kombi system and although it’s only $100 (Canadian$) more for the KM 131, I’m still inclined to go with the KM 94. That extra pound in the 131 is going to be noticeable as I get older, and I really like the simplicity of a 2 stroke.

That's very true... I think it'd definitely cut quicker. Sometimes the chain's neee a sharpen out the box aswell that could be another factor.

Great review as always. That type of chain is good for conifer and beech reduction on the thinner branches, it doesnt snag as much. A different chain would have went through the wood quicker. I use this machine for hedgework, Husqvarna 525 with pole saw attachment for branches, a more powerfull machine with a better chain.☆☆☆☆

Although I bought the Husqvarna 535LK, you won't go wrong with this machine. Stihl make quality tools & it does a multitude of jobs with one powerhead. In my experience, these combi's are fantastic!

Bought the km94 last year as i already had the km130, which can get heavy after long use. My local dealer sold me a 2014 model...
Dont realy like the ergostart and cant find use for the ecospeed on most jobs. I use it mainly with the hedgecutting and string trimming attachments as it lacks power for most other kombi tools. But overall its a nice quality, lightweight machine.

Stihl are excellent tools but I went for the Husqvarna 535LK due to the extra power! Although the Stihl hedgecutter articulates more, I don't regret my choice for a second. In my opinion the 535 LK is absolutely phenomenal!!!

Have you used a Bed Redefiner attachment with this powerhead? Just curious if its powerful enough for that attachment. Thanks!

i’ve got the km94rc and the starter pawls stopped engaging, my dealer is being stupid saying it’s not covered under warranty so i’m changing dealer, i bought a km131r to tide me over with work but it was from the stubborn dealer who ripped me off charging me 480 instead of the new dealer who had them for 288 on special

Hi James. No I don't think that dealer was very fair asking that price for it. I want a km131r in the future. Cheers, Calvin

ThT machine is new tho needs running in for 10 tank fills then open the throttle bit by bit to maximum speed with a bigger chain and bar and it would cut thru like butter nothing wrong with the machines

Give the chain a sharpen, those 1/4 pitch chains cut badly out the box.

Hello, the chap opened the fuel cap and had a sniff inside and said that there was no petrol smell .. I've jusy opened my (supposedly) brand new KM-94RC and I can smell fuel. Have I been sold a used machine or an ex demo machine? How common is it to smell fuel in the tank? I have to say the machine LOOKS brand new. (I'm new to all this and a bit confused!)

I just bought the KM 131r and it ordered in was assembled by the time I got to shop to pick it up (no box, just one bag with wrench manual and a couple other things, so new I never opened the bag yet lol). But I noticed that even their display chainsaws had fuel in them, I questioned that and they said that they test every machine before it leaves the store/shop. My first attachment will be the wired brush sweeper and line trimmer, it at the shop waiting for me to pick it up.
KM131R $556.99CAD (plus tax) so not a cheap piece of equipment.., and that's without attachments.

My Sterwins chainsaw smelt of petrol. I’d expect quality control to fire it up for a test

Who was the seller who sold this, they usually have a bulk lot after a new model is released. Would be interested in buying. Cheers.

That was really poor with the extension. I have the husqvarna 530i pt5 cordless telescopic pole saw the same as the one you previously reviewed and it flies at full reach even using all the bar cutting oak limbs.
I dont like the balance of the combi machines or the vibrations, and wouldn't use them. I sold mine on.
