Like Satch said, if you're a builder this would be great for an aesthetic, but to get actual gameplay that fits the theme, you need extra DLC. Somebody with only base game or a pack with market stalls would not get much use out of this, even if food items are being sold. 6:00 I do get annoyed with this as well, same with the doors and windows. If you give us wall heights, make sure all objects can work across all wall heights. If you introduce rounded walls, make sure to keep introducing window that fit them. This isn’t difficult and I can’t believe people make excuses for it.
I mainly play small walled (I like things sim height only), so I can't complain too much about it. However, I agree that every window, door, arch, light, and curtain NEEDS to be introduced with all wall heights because it's lazy not to.
You brought up a good point about the coffee machine being in a bar. I just made a build using this kit and originally I was going to make it a cafe (because I never play with cafes and I think this kit would look great for a cafe). Because I never play with cafes, I didn’t realize that even if you put a bar, separate from an espresso bar, a bartender wont spawn, like they would if you had a bar in a lounge, bar, nightclub. Only a barista would spawn. And I thought that’s weird because what’s the point of this kit having a bar and an espresso machine. So I decided to make a bar instead. The more I built using the objects, the more I realized that them adding an espresso machine was a poor choice. Like I get where they were coming from when looking into bistro aesthetics, but like you said, they also needed to consider how sims 4 lots operate. Other than that, I’m obsessed with this kit. I do wish they added maybe an extra item or two, but I’ll always never be satisfied with how small kits are. Also this is so incredibly small, but was anyone else disappointed that there weren’t swatches for the nectar bottle? Like cmon Sims, it’s the small details lol
I renovated the town square cafe in Get Together with the bistro kit last night and thought it was lovely with the cafe bar, but I know bistros are supposed to be both breakfast baked goods and coffees then be dinning with a bar. I suppose we just have to be super choosey on which type we prefer.
I find it a bit funny that the chairs and barstools are the same design that we had in ALL the other Sims games, but it took 10 years to get them in Sims 4. In a kit. I would have like to have the decor on the shelves be objects so you you could use them as a hutch or whatever you wanted, like a hutch maybe, but the decor that is on there does limit your use of it a little. If I were playing Sims 4, which I'm not, and I was building with it I'd be using a lot of move objects to cover some of the decor that is on it to make it into what I wanted it to be. Gotta remember with the Sims team, its all about how something LOOKS not what it actually IS. Remember the stories! They want to see the stories you make with it! It's what they said in every single livestream. I'm wondering if the bar that came with the other kit matches this kit, so you can use the new one tile bar with it instead of the big one. Just curious.
It's a bit weird they keep adding new community lot packs, but never added new lot spaces for them. Its a limitation of the way neighbourhoods work now I guess, I don't think it was a terrible design, but it just lacked the future proofing 3 had. There is that empty neighbourhood, but its just kind of weird with it being COMPLETELY empty, not even a few example lots about.
Anything that hangs from the ceiling as well as curtains, doors and windows should be in ALL 3 wall heights, I've never understood why they are so resistant to that!
You know what? The more I watch reviews, the less I’m tempted with this kit. And all reviews I’ve watched so far are unanimous: it’s pretty, it matches well, but it just lacks in wall heights for the limited items there are. I really like the flooring, the awning and the booth (as I don’t have Dine Out I really like that booth). And for the question of « is there enough to create a bistro? » to be honest yes for the play pretend. But there won’t be any kitchen. (Also because of bistronomy to me a bistro is more a restaurant than a bar so it definitely is not functional)
Personally, I bought this kit because my IRL town is Italian and French themed (it's a wine town), so I wanted to have builds inspired by it. It's honestly very lovely, but it could use a bit more. I had to pair it with Get Together to test it, but had the "oh.. it's lacking something..." moments. Just can't place my finger on what that is.
@@corabeaniI just got the kit through a giveaway in the end! I saw someone asking peacemaker (a cc creator used to make addons cc) to do addons because yeah, it misses something. I think the worst part of it is missing a matching wall panel with nothing written on it so that my outside facade is not just windows!
@@MirificentJoy I think the booth could use a small rectangular table and a slightly more clunky chair. For that half booth look since the table and chair the kit came with look very small paired with it. I think that the nectar bottle should be in more colors and maybe we should have gotten a trio of them. I also think a loveseat and a rug would be nice. Then a small... And I mean small candle cluster to be put at the center of the table instead of just having the tiny lamp. For outside, ivy and maybe an umbrella table. That way you have something for the "veranda" that the "panel" and opened door mention (btw the panel is an outdoor menu), and a more well rounded selection for inside.
I actually think both kits are nice. Rivera Retreat fits really well in desert worlds and you could do a lot with the bistro kit besides Bistros and the items are quality for there limited number. But I am not buying right now and basically just like EA discouraged me from further pack purchases with the shopping cart, they’ve some the same with the timed events. I think both kits are good actually, but not the time.
This is better than the riviera kit but I would recommend to go check cc items first. I don't think kits are worth buying. Some of them would be free in a few months anyway lol. Just go to house of harlix they have more than enough variety in there including stuffs for bistro/cafe. They also have options for different wall heights on doors, windows, curtains, shelves, lights etc. Save your money for when you buy your next expansion or game pack or buy yourself some mcdonalds meal 😆
Well, in the official Sims roadmap it literally says something along the lines of "2 romantic kits and 1 flirty expansion pack" so I do believe that was the intent.
I got so excited seeing the Sims 3 Bistro. Decorating sims 3 rabbit holes is a fun idea. This pack seems alright as an accessory to Dine Out, if you like building. I think thats about it, though. The pool kit, I dont really understand
Any bar can fits in a small place as long as you got galvanized steel support fixed to the wall with expansion screws borrowed from your aunt and eco friendly wood veneer for maximum durability.
OMG, it looks just like the bistros in Sims 3, how awesome! If I were still playing Sims 4, which I'm not, I would drop everything to download that lot just for the nostalgia
Tbh I've been trying to make bobs burgers save file without cc and this kit helps way too much lol you'd never think it but this kit was like ripped from Jimmy pestos restaurant 😅
I didn't know a bistro was a bar... I thought it was more like a café. I learned something new (clearly Over never been to a real one). Since I am not into building, I'll hold off buying these kits until builders on the gallery start adding cool builds using them.
I love building ridiculous mansions, and they almost always have very tall walls. Finding interior doors for the bathrooms that don't look ridiculous, or various archways that are sufficiently high, is impossible. One of my pet peeves. Like "oh, look at my magnificent hallway here with statues ...and sized-up plants 9 ft tall....and now look at my TINY little wooden interior door. It looks so stupid.
I totally agree with you on everything. I hope they listen to you and improve. I love the Sims, but most things in the Sims 4 constantly make me feel like they could've been better!
i think theyre gorgeous as a bistro, it works as a bar, which are into basic game. it would work in homes, without the bar stuff, a nice table set and accessories. - i think it would look nice with the bakery in Get to work, to turn it into a outdoor cafe. - also works with a food sale, you go sit at the tables and eat, or order a drink. - it would be a nice wedding set! to me anyways. - it would work with dine out. - they did the same with sims 3, they sold the extra packs if you didnt want to buy the whole thing. if you didnt have the pack, it didnt match other stuff, and didnt make sense if you didnt have the accompanying world. but you could do piece purchasing if you didnt want the world or didnt have the money for it. - my birthday is coming up, i would love this kit. - i think this would be nice with the eco kit. sit and have a drink outside, with people dumpster diving in the background, then come over and sit on the seats to eat their meals or just rest.
I personally think both kits are very lovely. They look like my town (wine town) and how I enjoy building, so I don't have a problem with them overall. I feel like the bistro kit could have used a couple more items (couch or maybe a larger table), but it pairs so well with existing items that it's not that big of a deal.
Carls dine out mod is actually still broken at this time! I promise if you try uninstalling you’re gonna notice such a big performance difference, it was really making my game fall apart and causing a lot more problems than I thought after a while. The only thing I noticed that changed in my dine out gameplay after uninstalling was that sims get up and like to walk around sometimes at the restaurant but they’re pretty easy to recall with the “sit together” option at dinner but the act of having dinner itself in the sims 4 seems to now perform very smoothly now since the update. Hope this helps!
a small, casual restaurant with a relatively inexpensive, simple menu. Unlike a cafe, it usually has full meals instead of just snack type food. So it isn't just bars.
Satch: "The coffee machine is quite big and doesn't suit being in a home." Me with my very large bean to fresh coffee machine that does 4 different types of coffee and steams/froths milk: "I beg to differ"
In the Log in special they have going on now, it has a one tile bar, so maybe you can use that one. They do look similar and they might match in color.
😅 plus gelato comes with the ice cream maker in cool kitchen which functions with get to work retail set up like an ice cream shop or the market stands you can sell your ice creams and remarks with those and if you have home chef you can bring the ice cream maker with you on site and keep making frozen treats to sell.
The items look nice. The kit says bistro but I can see an Irish pub with the green doors and windows. A two tile bar and some variation in deco bottles would have suited better than a coffee machine that doesn't have purpose in a sims 4 bar or restaurant.
Kinda wish they would have just fully leaned into a coffee shop vibe instead of the restaurant look considering you can't dine unless you have dine out so most of this dedicated restaurant stuff wouldn't really be used without it. At least the coffee shop stuff would be more usable in your house to decorate kitchens and dining rooms.
i actually want more cafes, not bars. i'm bored already with bars.. how many bars we already have?? i'm not even drinking irl so it's kinda unrelatable. cafes please. The door, window, sign, divider, awning, looks nice though
If you have get together, you can 100% make a cafe with this kit. The bar object is just an object and does serve food as well and its the only basegame compatible option really, I use “bars” on my Sims 4 community lots a lot as it was my basegame work around for a food order spot. Now that I have more packs, I still use bars sometimes for this. The “bistro aesthetic” is a theme for the items not a cage you have to tie yourself to while using it.
So as this is a kit only I dont expect it to work as Dine out with an actual chef and waiters etc. But since it is a BISTRO it would be he nice if this was the one bar object that served a few meals not just drinks??
Ok umm Idk if anyone has mentioned this.. but has EA made mention that this Kit is literally Syboulette's Boulangerie Set (2021) CC.. I know that it is only available for people who can get mods.. but still.. Just check it out.. Almost identical but I think hers comes with more..
Help, am I the only one whose gallery doesn’t work?? After updating the game I keep getting red x’s on everything there. I tried restarting my computer, turning off antivirus but nothing has been working
I bought this kit as I kinda liked the designs, but i quickly encountered some problems with it. Firstly, the menu pannel is bigger that the windows and the doors lol, x Without speaking of the fact that at least the medium hight windows would have been highly appreciated.. that huge sofa is really giant and doesn't suit the cozy bistro vibe at all. Personally, I could find a use of it in my build. They give us a new coffee m1ker yay, cool! BUT! where are we supposed to place it!? You can't place it neither on the barback nor on the 4 tiled bar! Gotta use a kitchen element, but than again that looks awful next to the barback and I couldn't find a matching swatch for the teal palette.. The mirror we get with that kit is just awful - it's too big and is placed too high wich looks ridiculous with the new wallpaper et compared with the low wall height. Looks like it was supposed for the medium wall heigh, but the windows and the door are for the low one😂 They're incapable to male this small kit match and work well together..
Idk. Where I'm from (latin america), a bistro usually is like a coffee house with some full meals, you basically eat on bar chairs because it's supposed to be mildly unconfortable. The lack of new counters annoy me SO MUCH. Also, choosing wheter or not its a bar, a caffee or a restaurant, and then I cant have coffee on my library... Just assing a sim to every thing already, MODDERS CAN DO IT, WHY EA CANT?!1! AAAAAAAH
There is a base game table that was patched in that's a replica of s French bistro table called the mafique or something like that has a gold and white swatch if that helps and that maybe why the kit only has outdoor feel tables I think the table I'm thinking not its thumbnail swatch is gold and teal... Could be wrong.
Yeah you have to make it sims 3 community lot style with the random self serving bar and coffee maker if you dont own dine out lol I don't dislike this stuff per se, its just that I didn't feel it was needed especially if you dont own dine out and if you do own dine out it is broken so unless you use the dine out reloaded mod it is pointless, and if you use mods there is tons of cc that is already like this stuff. so...If anyone wants alternate mods for the same ideas, AroundTheSims4 has tons of bistro CC for sims 4 My opinion about kits is not matter what limit it has on objects, different wall height variations for things DONT COUNT Out of the two kits i think both are meh but not bad, but weird choices and require other packs to reach their potential which isn't fair for people who don't have them
at first glance I thought this kit looked really enticing and fun with the Parisian cafe/1920s America vibes but then, watching the review video makes you realize it lacks in the gameplay aspect because why would they include a coffee maker when you cannot even put it on top of the bar? definitely needed some coffee machines like the ones that came with get together. still all the items are really cute though.
Im still trying to decide if i should get it or not as a player who tries to do gameplay but ends up getting bored with my storyline for it before even starting, even though i made the sims and house. Although i do typically like building lots (bad at it, though). Can anyone give me insight on this?
It looks like there's something wrong with the divider. It's meant to separate booths, not freestanding dining tables. Why didn't they give players booths that would fit correctly inside them? It makes no sense.
An honest question here. Even if you have dine out, can you use a bar in a restaurant or do you need a mod for that? I thought it was just for food. I don't own dine out, so I don't know.
Umm these would’ve been amazing items in a Dine Out revamp. You’re right, on their own, it’s not particularly usable without other packs.

🤣
It seem they forgot to add the swatcheds in the bottle. But they already used the same model in that hanging shelf, with other variations of swatches.
🤣
It's a bit weird they keep adding new community lot packs, but never added new lot spaces for them.
Its a limitation of the way neighbourhoods work now I guess, I don't think it was a terrible design, but it just lacked the future proofing 3 had.
There is that empty neighbourhood, but its just kind of weird with it being COMPLETELY empty, not even a few example lots about.
Anything that hangs from the ceiling as well as curtains, doors and windows should be in ALL 3 wall heights, I've never understood why they are so resistant to that!
Hi, thank you for keeping it honest. Been watching and lurking in the background for a while 😂. You don't get enough credit as a youtuber
snatch😆
😭 sorry snatch is hilarious
I absolutely agree! Satch is the true, strict but fair UA-camr who should get more credit for his honesty🥳😊
Save your money for when you buy your next expansion or game pack or buy yourself some mcdonalds meal 😆
how convenient a kit about cute dates comes out right before an expansion about romance
Well, in the official Sims roadmap it literally says something along the lines of "2 romantic kits and 1 flirty expansion pack" so I do believe that was the intent.
🤣
your takes on sims/EA is so refreshing. thank you for the candidness with everything!!
I just want better gameplay like it was in sims 2. 10 years and nothing like that.
I got so excited seeing the Sims 3 Bistro. Decorating sims 3 rabbit holes is a fun idea.
This pack seems alright as an accessory to Dine Out, if you like building. I think thats about it, though. The pool kit, I dont really understand
🤣
Any bar can fits in a small place as long as you got galvanized steel support fixed to the wall with expansion screws borrowed from your aunt and eco friendly wood veneer for maximum durability.
OMG, it looks just like the bistros in Sims 3, how awesome! If I were still playing Sims 4, which I'm not, I would drop everything to download that lot just for the nostalgia
🤣
Hello. Thank you for the honest reviews on both kits.❤❤
Tbh I've been trying to make bobs burgers save file without cc and this kit helps way too much lol you'd never think it but this kit was like ripped from Jimmy pestos restaurant 😅
Haha, I was working to this too! Just adding in favorite families from animated TV shows as townies.
I didn't know a bistro was a bar... I thought it was more like a café. I learned something new (clearly Over never been to a real one). Since I am not into building, I'll hold off buying these kits until builders on the gallery start adding cool builds using them.
🤣
I love building ridiculous mansions, and they almost always have very tall walls. Finding interior doors for the bathrooms that don't look ridiculous, or various archways that are sufficiently high, is impossible. One of my pet peeves.
Like "oh, look at my magnificent hallway here with statues ...and sized-up plants 9 ft tall....and now look at my TINY little wooden interior door. It looks so stupid.
🤣
I'm so getting that sims 3 bistro! I always wanted to see through that one
I feel like building a 60s diner with this would be nice. And the floor tiles match well with the pool kit that just dropped
🤣
I feel like the bistro kit could have used a couple more items (couch or maybe a larger table), but it pairs so well with existing items that it's not that big of a deal.
the chairs back is literally the same as the chair from paranormal stuff xD
This kit will work excellently for any turn-of-the-century build, I guess I'll get this one.
I really like it.
my sims cant eat in a bistro without doing pressups every five milliseconds is tooo real
Tablecloth tables are really not typically seen outdoors. At least over in the State. It’s for inside and the doors are inside too.
look forward to the cc makers doing a sims 2 version.
🤣
Great perception on what they missed here. Fantastic review!
This is My Fist Dine Out Stuff 😂
Carls dine out mod is actually still broken at this time! I promise if you try uninstalling you’re gonna notice such a big performance difference, it was really making my game fall apart and causing a lot more problems than I thought after a while. The only thing I noticed that changed in my dine out gameplay after uninstalling was that sims get up and like to walk around sometimes at the restaurant but they’re pretty easy to recall with the “sit together” option at dinner but the act of having dinner itself in the sims 4 seems to now perform very smoothly now since the update. Hope this helps!
I'm happy you like so much of it, actually
Their new "log in gifts" include a single bar, it looks like it matches.
i love that this looks like the bistro from sims 3
a small, casual restaurant with a relatively inexpensive, simple menu. Unlike a cafe, it usually has full meals instead of just snack type food. So it isn't just bars.
Satch: "The coffee machine is quite big and doesn't suit being in a home."
Me with my very large bean to fresh coffee machine that does 4 different types of coffee and steams/froths milk: "I beg to differ"
Awwee!! I always wanted to go inside that restaurant! That's amazing!!
I like this art nuvou style & sims 3 nostalgia.
"it pisses me off, yes it does" ❤❤🤣🤣
The items look nice. The kit says bistro but I can see an Irish pub with the green doors and windows. A two tile bar and some variation in deco bottles would have suited better than a coffee machine that doesn't have purpose in a sims 4 bar or restaurant.
I... um... wh.. why do I like this? The swatches are nice. (Still not buying it though).
Nice, definitely going to get this one when it's inevitably free in a few months 🤭
I’ll wait until Max 20 Reserve creates a CC pack that will outdo this.
So as this is a kit only I dont expect it to work as Dine out with an actual chef and waiters etc. But since it is a BISTRO it would be he nice if this was the one bar object that served a few meals not just drinks??
I always delete the room too when I’m building 🤣🤣🤣 thank god we got the undo button
I reckon they are going to revamp dine out finally so it matches this kit and gets more sales.
My thoughts as well.
I doubt that
The dividers remind me of when restaurants put plexiglass in between all the booths for Covid
🤣
Ok umm Idk if anyone has mentioned this.. but has EA made mention that this Kit is literally Syboulette's Boulangerie Set (2021) CC.. I know that it is only available for people who can get mods.. but still.. Just check it out.. Almost identical but I think hers comes with more..
Help, am I the only one whose gallery doesn’t work?? After updating the game I keep getting red x’s on everything there. I tried restarting my computer, turning off antivirus but nothing has been working
I just don't understand why the bar has rounded corners. It makes it really hard to match it to any of the pre-existing counters
🤣
Especially frustrating that the kit doesn't come with any counters, or a long table to match the dining booth...
I bought this kit as I kinda liked the designs, but i quickly encountered some problems with it.
Firstly, the menu pannel is bigger that the windows and the doors lol, x
Without speaking of the fact that at least the medium hight windows would have been highly appreciated.. that huge sofa is really giant and doesn't suit the cozy bistro vibe at all.
Looks like it was supposed for the medium wall heigh, but the windows and the door are for the low one😂
They're incapable to male this small kit match and work well together..
Maxis put a cozy bistro build on the gallery but made it a lounge instead of a cafe, the obvious choice.
This would be super cute with nectar making. You could have a winery without the ranch style
🤣
AAAAAAAH
A bistro lot type would have been great.
There is a base game table that was patched in that's a replica of s French bistro table called the mafique or something like that has a gold and white swatch if that helps and that maybe why the kit only has outdoor feel tables
I think the table I'm thinking not its thumbnail swatch is gold and teal... Could be wrong.
I wish we got more swatches on the wine bottle. There are more swatches on the wine in the ceiling shelf so it wouldn’t have been that hard.
You can eat in a bistro. Simple meals but you would go to a bistro to eat not just to drink.
🤣
Yeah you have to make it sims 3 community lot style with the random self serving bar and coffee maker if you dont own dine out lol
I don't dislike this stuff per se, its just that I didn't feel it was needed especially if you dont own dine out and if you do own dine out it is broken so unless you use the dine out reloaded mod it is pointless, and if you use mods there is tons of cc that is already like this stuff. so...If anyone wants alternate mods for the same ideas, AroundTheSims4 has tons of bistro CC for sims 4
My opinion about kits is not matter what limit it has on objects, different wall height variations for things DONT COUNT
Out of the two kits i think both are meh but not bad, but weird choices and require other packs to reach their potential which isn't fair for people who don't have them
🤣
i really like this kit. & yeah i dont really play live mode lol i mostly build so i may pick it up
needing other packs for the kit to really have any value is a biiiig yikes. should've given us that 2 tile bar as well 😩
🤣
Again, waiting for this one being free too😂
Thank you for filling in us for content it's so good that liquid is coming out of our mouths😭
I guess it's just me...I'm quite unimpressed. I haven't seen anything that just really stands out in either of the new kits.
at first glance I thought this kit looked really enticing and fun with the Parisian cafe/1920s America vibes but then, watching the review video makes you realize it lacks in the gameplay aspect because why would they include a coffee maker when you cannot even put it on top of the bar? definitely needed some coffee machines like the ones that came with get together. still all the items are really cute though.
Im still trying to decide if i should get it or not as a player who tries to do gameplay but ends up getting bored with my storyline for it before even starting, even though i made the sims and house. Although i do typically like building lots (bad at it, though). Can anyone give me insight on this?
The bistro and riviera kits should’ve been in a dine out update.
They already said there will not be any more updates for packs
It looks like there's something wrong with the divider. It's meant to separate booths, not freestanding dining tables. Why didn't they give players booths that would fit correctly inside them? It makes no sense.
It doesn't make any sense which means for this game, it makes total sense they would do it 🙄
@@kimberlyjeanne9456 LMAO
Looks really pretty but how are we going to use it with restaurants being so broken..
Put it on the gallery when you finish if you don’t mind
The items and wall backgrounds ans floors are good yet I think it's still better to use it for Dine out expansion pack
To your point about a two-tile bar... they gave us a two-tile bar-back, so it makes no sense that there is no two-tile bar to go with it.
Does this mean a _Dine Out_ fix is finally coming?
i sure hope so. It’d be nice to have my 50s diner actually working after all the time I spent building it
🤣
@@joeysalazar98 🤣
Sooo cafes don’t come with get together ? or everybody forgot about that feature? Lol 😭😭
the items are beautiful as always but should have been part of a dine out refresh..
An honest question here. Even if you have dine out, can you use a bar in a restaurant or do you need a mod for that? I thought it was just for food. I don't own dine out, so I don't know.
Yes I built a bar right next to the kitchen in my restaurant. Console player
@@deljean that's good to know. Thank you
Finally, I can accurately make the Ratatouille restaurant in the sims flour, thank you Smatch for showcasing this off! ❤️❤️❤️
🤣
My First Dine Out Stuff…
what is the dine out mod?
A bistro is not a bar. You can eat little meals there. It is not only for drinking.
🤣
Is anyone having optical illusion with that floor
🤣🤣
I mean technically you can order food at the bar.. it just won't be delivered to the table without dine out
You mean only if you own Get Together right?
Or does this specific bar allow u to order food, even if u only have base game??
@@VickiDee88 ope it's been so long I forgot that it came with get together, my bad
Jeah, what if they fixed Dine Out and added this content as a 'Sorry it took so long'?
