Small sidenote: the 83 in 83key is said as "Yasa", as his real name is Shunsuke Yasaki, and the numbers 8 and 3 can be read as "hachi/ya" and "san/mi". Take the first two sounds and add "key" and it sounds like "Yasaki"
Holy hell, carpenter brut was the last name I'd expect in a video discussing yakuza OST artists but like, I *hear* it, I see the vision. 83KEY is on my radar.
Oh yeah, about the lyrics of For Faith. That was literally Shoji himself singing the lyrics. (As seen in the credits of the BEST OF song collection released with Yakuza 4 I think.)
The Yakuza OST is one of my favorite parts of the whole series and I suppose subsequently, your videos on the topic are my favorites. I am very excited to watch this mr angeman
I can't tell you how much I love the soundtracks from these games, it's so nice watching a video like this appreciating all the music and their composers from somebody else who's clearly also a massive fan of them
I sincerely hope Keitaro Hanada returns for the future games of the franchise, because holy shit his contributions to Gaiden and Infinite Wealth are my favorite parts of these games' soundtracks. No matter what style he goes for, it hits part of my soul just right!
Hasty Spirit is definitely Kaito's theme. Also nice to see that RGG themselves seem to recognize that by putting it in Gaiden and not just giving him a random substory theme from Gaiden's OST. Like Bruiser and Tank are kinda cool, but Hasty Spirit really sums up his character with both emotional and action-y parts perfectly into a song. The Duel is also really, really good. Also was it really necessary to give your 44k subscribers depression at the end of the video like that😭
83key is probably the easiest of them all to recognize. Ive never failed to recognize his songs except in Gaiden when i thought a song was made by him, but was not. Instead it was made by this new composer, Ryo Fukuda, who so far has made songs only for Gaiden and IW. These songs include absolute bangers like Psychos Anthem (Gaiden), Receive and Believe you and BodyBag (IW). I really hope to see him in the future games again.

Yakuza OSTs are always great, but these music/composer videos escalates and reminds me that these OSTs are MASTERPIECES. These are my favorite types of your vids and got me to subscribe months ago. Thanks so much and keep up the amazing work!
The music of the yakuza series is really underrated. Of course, the series has only recently become popular in the West and is still less popular than other AAA series. The music of the series has never won an award or even been nominated for music at a game award ceremony. This is unfortunate as a fan of the series. I really hope that the music in this series will be treated to match its quality someday.
Knew Yakuza music could stab me in my feels, but I’m Fading Away hit me like a power drill, definitely one of my new faves. Also drop the full edit for that, cause that shit HURT
Holy fuck, I had never heard the 83key/Carpenter Brut comparison before but it makes so much sense, CB is one of my favourite artists of all time so no wonder I like his stuff so much. My favourite from his is Brutality -Rebuild- I think. My favourite composer from the series is still Chihiro Aoki overall, just hearing that I'm Fading Away at the end made me shed a tear, just like that ending. Also I just finished Ishin today so I am extra biased E: Idk why YT decided to put those lines into Rebuild, I'm just typing it like it is on Spotify: - Rebuild - but without the spaces
From my understanding, you can tell who's who based on if it sounds epic, incredible, awesome, phenomenal, or excellent. Now I just have to figure out the difference between those.
Me with my Carpenter Brut tattoo when Carpenter Brut is mentioned: "Y E S". But actually yea I mentally have made the connections a while ago but never actually thought about it until you mentioned it in the video how 83key's songs feel reminiscent of the darksynth style of Brut.
The Yakuza soundtracks are a huge reason i got REALLY into the games ngl. I've been completely obsessed since i heard Recieve and Bite You and it's only spiraled out of control from there. Terrified to see my spotify wrapped this year lmfao

I saw Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino (and that other guy, the cat bar aficionado that lives in a ranch in Montana) perform live some years ago in the O2 Arena while under the effects of some serious food poisoning. Almost shat myself in excitement.

So, fun note from someone who's been doing music production for games a little bit. In regards to the whole "distortion of vocal-samples"-thing, it's a pretty normal thing in games where the devs will tell the composer "This is sick, but we're really worried that the vocals distract from the gameplay. Players might confuse it for an in-game voice line. Please make it clearly distinguishable from a clean VO-recording." And so, the go-to answer becomes to distort the hell out of it.
Do they copyright their music very heavily? I was going to create a yakuza-centered video on a different channel but I've been finding mixed results on it.
