You’re going to love it. My buddy Matt has passes throughout the summer and fall. I’m hoping to get back down there at least once or twice this season.
Wow Christian, you have that RTJ putter dialed in! Nice course vlog. Sweetens Cove looks like a really fun course to play. Thanks for sharing. Terrific music by Matt and on a wax cylinder too - awesome!
Thanks, Brad! Hoping it won’t take long to warm up the RTJ like that again this season. And yeah, Matt is an excellent traditional old-time musician. He’s got a couple of albums of wax cylinder recordings and they’re fantastic.
Thanks for watching! This course, like Lac La Belle, is another great example of what good design can do to vastly improve a previously troublesome golf course. It’s always been a beautiful spot for a golf course - it just needed someone like Rob Collins to make it shine with a thoughtful and interesting design. Definitely one of the coolest courses I’ve played and I can’t wait to go back.
Great round, looks like a fun course! Played my first round of golf on a "real" course with my hickories, had fun even though the course record was in no danger of being broken that day (and the club pro was very kind, and with a very amused grin, to return one I accidentally left behind in the heat of the moment by one of the bunkers, d'oh!). In the meantime, think I'll be getting in some more practice on the home course...
Nice! And yeah - it took me several rounds of playing on a short par 3 course before I was confident enough to try them on a full-size course. Keep at it! Glad you had fun regardless.
Hi, Burt! My preference depends on what I’m doing and how many holes I’m playing. When I’m filming a round, I use a vintage 1960s Bag Boy pull cart because I already have enough to carry with the camera tripod. It’s about as “antique” a pull cart as I’ve found that’s still reliably functional. When I’m not filming, I use the pull cart (I turn it around so I can push it) for 18 hole rounds and I carry my Steurer and Jacoby pencil bag when I’m playing 9.
Yeah, for some reason I’m a better putter on quicker greens. Had similar experiences at Sara Bay CC and Latrobe CC, which both have really slick greens.
Thanks! I appreciate the suggestion. This round was a year ago and I think my swing has improved since then, but I’ll check to see if I’m still dipping my head.
Putter was electric🔥
Probably my best putting round ever. You gotta have confidence in your stroke on those greens and that day, I did.
Great course and great putting! Thanks.
Thanks, Al!
Another good Vlog. Putter sure was hot! I’ve got all day passes to play here in September. Can’t wait!!

Well done looks like a lot of fun
Thank you! And yeah, no matter what clubs you play with at Sweetens, you’re going to have a blast.

Great video!!! Best video yet!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it!
What an excellent course to use hickories on. Those older courses are classics to play, nice posting Christian.

Hello, Christian. Love these gorgeous courses you play. What do you prefer - push cart or carry the bag? Any recommendations on a push cart? Thanks.

Man I couldn't tell if I was watching the Mr. Hickory Hacker or Ben Crenshaw!
😂 Thanks - I didn’t measure them, but maybe the cups are twice as big at Sweetens to make sure you have a good time.
Didn't strike the ball well, but your putting was on fire.

Christian, if I may comment - try to do your takeaway without dipping your head - I think you would make better contact.
