I'm a Cardinals fan and I've always like Joey Votto. He is the big bad guy on your rivals team that you would really just want that intensity and talent on your team.
I hope Mr Votto reads this. Cardinals fan here. Always wished he was ours. 7 times leading MLB in on base percentage. Definitely HOF. Wishing him great joy going forward.
Same...he was one of the good ones....I could only imagine our old school club house would've boosted him. It's a shame to see us in shambles the way we are now
Joey Votto you always be Cincinnati Red.. we love you and we were so Lucky you became and stayed a Red... Davey Concepcion, Barry Larkin and Joey Votto my 3 favorite Red's of all time.. Good luck.. your already deeply missed.
This man opened his heart up on live radio. Such a compelling listen. Votto needs his own show. DP paid him the ultimate compliment with a genuine “let’s keep in touch.”
I know that my Canadian minor league son was honoured to play and train alongside Joey this year. He even signed a copy of the “Science of Hitting” for him and went out of his way to help the 19 year old along the way. I was personally thrilled to see them 3,4 in the batting order one game. Hall of Fame level player and person.
I want someone to let him know it's not his former team as a Red's fan he will always be a Red to us always.. could care less what management thinks .. Joey Votto is as important to us as Red player he is up there with the greatest Red's of all time..
Im a Cubs fan but hes the only non-Cub bobblehead or signed ball I have. Best left handed hitter Ive ever seen outside Bonds and Gwynn. His approach is second to none. Of this generation, Votto and Miguel Cabrera are the two hitters I would tell kids to study and be like.
Saw this dude live against the Dodgers last Aug. He was fun, congenial and receptive to the fans during BP. He took every at bat seriously and looked like he really loved being out there. He was a joy to watch. I’m so glad that I got to see him last year.
Lifelong Reds fan...my favorite Red and MLB player. My son and I have watched you chat guys up at first 100's of times in person. The Red's have lost their heart and it 100% shows this year. Shame on them for not letting you end your career here...we watched you walk off the field at GABP last year & the Reds soul walked off into the tunnel that day. Joey Votto still BANGS!
Congratulations on an immense career, you legend. You’ve been a joy to watch. Best of luck in your next chapter of life. Enjoy yourself. And see you in Cooperstown.
Dude took GO Transit and the TTC to play chess at a chess club during the off-seasons in Toronto and didn't want to be interviewed by the Toronto Star while he was there because he was there in a "civilian" capacity lol
Led MLB in OBP 7 times. Was the only reason to watch the Reds for a long time. One of the best eyes I've ever seen. Tortured pitchers in his prime. Just decided to start hitting for power late in his career and hit 36 bombs at 37. Really think he could've hit 500+ HR's if he adopted that earlier in his career. A definite Hall of Famer in my opinion. Should've had 2 MVP's as well.
All due to a stinkin' bat left on the dugout floor! Also his stats are high with runners in scoring position. Important stat. Amazing that he wound up sitting next to Devon White - crazy...
Dan, you and the Danettes have about 3 hrs left, with all the vacation days and load management you gu take, I figure about 3 yrs, 3 good yrs, so enjoy your time
Man, if the Reds were a better franchise while Joey Vitto played fir them hed have been a much bigger star outside the tri-state region. Gkad he stayed!!! Good fortune to you #19 !!!
he's talkin like it was Bull Durham but he was the MAN for awhile! Loved having him in Cincy. Rest easy Joey and stay close you're too smart to not speak
I mean what is wrong with baseball that a guy like this is not in a clubhouse? Like his presence is valuable, idk man mlb is washed out and so boring for these reasons
I knew the name Joey Votto as a casual baseball fan but just figured he was another elitist athlete. That is until I started seeing him on DP. Class act. I’ll root for you whatever you do going forward.
I didn't understand why there wasn't much interest in Joey Votto. I mean, maybe for big $$ but the guy should have gotten some calls as he was a very productive player for a very long time. Did the whole league already know Votto was done?
We're all told at some point in time we can no longer play the childrens game . We just don't know when thats goning to be .Some of us are told at 18 , some of us are told at 40 , but we're all told.
there are three types of sports retirements 1. you walk away 2. injury forces retirement 3. no one wants you. joey had no.3. the reds no longer wanted him. the rest of the league wasnt calling. he tried to keep going and the blue jays gave him a pity deal.
Reds fan since I was a kid going back to 1975. Favorite players over the years have been Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, and Joey Votto. Can't help but feel that the Reds wasted the careers of Larkin and Votto. No commitment to winning in Cincinnati for the last 30 years.
@@johngalt60 Yes, in 1990. Look at the Reds for the rest of that time and you'll see that outside of 1990 and 1995 they haven't been any better than the Pirates for the past 30+ years (no offense intended Pirates fans).
He should just sign very short term contracts with whatever teams is playing the Redbirds. Always killed my boys.....course now most every team does..were bad....sigh
How can you not like Joey
I'm a Cleveland fan so I dislike the Reds but nothing but respect and love for Joey Votto
I'm a Cardinals fan and I've always like Joey Votto. He is the big bad guy on your rivals team that you would really just want that intensity and talent on your team.

Cardinals fan. Same sentiment exactly.
Same...he was one of the good ones....I could only imagine our old school club house would've boosted him. It's a shame to see us in shambles the way we are now
Thank you for everything Joey. Class act
Joey Votto so honest. And one of the best hitters in his generation.
HOF bound! 🇺🇸⚾️
🇨🇦
Joey Votto you always be Cincinnati Red.. we love you and we were so Lucky you became and stayed a Red... Davey Concepcion, Barry Larkin and Joey Votto my 3 favorite Red's of all time.. Good luck.. your already deeply missed.
Damn I forgot about Barry Larkin 😮
VOTTO STILL BANGS
Always will
One of my favorite players and genuine personalities of the game. Thanks for the honest interview.
Your interviews with Joey are always SO SO good!
This man opened his heart up on live radio. Such a compelling listen. Votto needs his own show. DP paid him the ultimate compliment with a genuine “let’s keep in touch.”

Thanks for the memories Joey! You always represented Cincinnati with class!
"When you are not on stage nobody cares." ... my heart goes out to Joey.
I knew you’d have him on the show and I’m so glad you did ❤
WHat a great guy!! really enjoyed the interview!! He need to ne on sports TV!
One of the best ive seen play live love him❤
About as real as it gets - WOW!
I want someone to let him know it's not his former team as a Red's fan he will always be a Red to us always.. could care less what management thinks .. Joey Votto is as important to us as Red player he is up there with the greatest Red's of all time..
Votto got thrown out of his last MLB game.... THROWN OUT by an UMPIRE.. very likable fella.
Still can’t believe that shit
THIS INTERVIEW BROUGHT SOME TEARS TO MY EYES..... NOT GONA LIE
Fantastic stuff. Felt like a therapy session for Joey.
Saw this dude live against the Dodgers last Aug. He was fun, congenial and receptive to the fans during BP. He took every at bat seriously and looked like he really loved being out there. He was a joy to watch. I’m so glad that I got to see him last year.
Born and raised in Milan, still living here..he got me for a second or two, i was about to look it up on google 😂
Your story is not over, love.

as a Reds fan since mid 1980's I feel lucky to go from Larkin to Griffey Jr to Dunn to Votto and now to ELDC.
Love Joey but Dan is a master interviewer
Joey was always a class act and worked hard at his trade. We will miss him in Cincy.
One of the most underrated first baseman ever
Wish I coulda seen him in Buffalo. Great interview. I loved this.
Joey Votto is the best! Complete sweetheart
I love the one team guys. Great interview.
Get Joey in the Man Cave soon! Love that guy! I think he would be great as an analyst, if he wanted to do it, doesn't sound like he wants to.
Cubs fan here...Votto was a Cubs killer! what a class act! He will be a great color guy in someone's booth!
SUCH HONESTY!!!❤🎉 I truly want the Phillies to call Joey soon. Amazing career!! Bravo!!
Marvelous interview with the GOAT. Joey will be missed! #REDS
Great guy, great player. I hope the Hall of Fame is his next stop
Dude took GO Transit and the TTC to play chess at a chess club during the off-seasons in Toronto and didn't want to be interviewed by the Toronto Star while he was there because he was there in a "civilian" capacity lol

Great interview and interesting takes on himself and baseball. Looking forward to more from him.
career .409 OBP and .920 OPS - Hall of Famer
Good interview. I like Dan Patrick as well. He does not over talk the guest. He often ask short and simple questions and then lets the person speak.
Thank you for being you, Mr Joey MVP future HOF Votto!! Forever a Red!
Joseph Daniel Votto is the Canadian Jesus. #VottoStillBangs 🇺🇸🇨🇦⚾️
Wow! Amazing conversation
Thank you Joey
Of all the players i've wached joey had the most elite vision. I won't forget him hitting that single in his final ab in Cincinnati.
Thank you Joey....
Very classy!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Joey always killed my cubs but I love the guy class guy
Joey was a great player and is nothing but a class act. There’s really nothing else that needs to be said.
This is making me cry!
I knew dan would get his retirement in somehow..dan would love to interview dan
Hall of famer in my book!!
Amazing, So glad he's doing well
All due to a stinkin' bat left on the dugout floor! Also his stats are high with runners in scoring position. Important stat. Amazing that he wound up sitting next to Devon White - crazy...
Joey V. See you in Cooperstown 🤘
Such an awesome dude. He'll find his calling after baseball and he'll rock it.
Dan, you and the Danettes have about 3 hrs left, with all the vacation days and load management you gu take, I figure about 3 yrs, 3 good yrs, so enjoy your time
Very cool interview
Joey helped take the sting out of a long dark era in Reds country.
Come to Cincinnati. Thank you, 💖😢
The GOAT.
Man, if the Reds were a better franchise while Joey Vitto played fir them hed have been a much bigger star outside the tri-state region. Gkad he stayed!!! Good fortune to you #19 !!!
The part about his dad made me pop. 😢
Legend
Would have welcomed him on my team any day, week, month or year.
I really hope he stays in the game somehow, as a coach or announcer.
he's talkin like it was Bull Durham but he was the MAN for awhile! Loved having him in Cincy. Rest easy Joey and stay close you're too smart to not speak
The Reds would hire him back for several different spots... just not on the field. Would love to see him be an announcer!
Sounded like Bull Durham.
Joey is so good. He'll land on his feet somewhere.
Please come back to Cincinnati in some form....coach, manager.
Announcer!
I mean what is wrong with baseball that a guy like this is not in a clubhouse? Like his presence is valuable, idk man mlb is washed out and so boring for these reasons
He has almost the same number of hits as Mattingly. Plus he has almost a thousand more walks. More home runs and rbi also.
Great career. Some of the guys in the league this long don't show how much they love it. It's their drug. Glad he realized he's ready to move on.
Weird watching this for the first time today….
The freaking best
I hope he stays involved in the game. Sounds like he has a lot to impart to the next generation. And they should listen.
Will be missed
I knew the name Joey Votto as a casual baseball fan but just figured he was another elitist athlete. That is until I started seeing him on DP. Class act. I’ll root for you whatever you do going forward.
Joey votto 👊
Devon White was awesome with the Angels also.
Someone call Darrius Rucker! For ol Dem dan.
I didn't understand why there wasn't much interest in Joey Votto. I mean, maybe for big $$ but the guy should have gotten some calls as he was a very productive player for a very long time. Did the whole league already know Votto was done?
What a guy
We're all told at some point in time we can no longer play the childrens game . We just don't know when thats goning to be .Some of us are told at 18 , some of us are told at 40 , but we're all told.
Hall of Famer!
Why did Dan try to make it about himself and mention his plans for retirement
there are three types of sports retirements
1. you walk away
2. injury forces retirement
3. no one wants you.
joey had no.3. the reds no longer wanted him. the rest of the league wasnt calling. he tried to keep going and the blue jays gave him a pity deal.
This guy must be fun
Reds fan since I was a kid going back to 1975. Favorite players over the years have been Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, and Joey Votto. Can't help but feel that the Reds wasted the careers of Larkin and Votto. No commitment to winning in Cincinnati for the last 30 years.
Uh, didn't Larkin help them win a World Series?! 🤔
@@johngalt60 Yes, in 1990. Look at the Reds for the rest of that time and you'll see that outside of 1990 and 1995 they haven't been any better than the Pirates for the past 30+ years (no offense intended Pirates fans).
Everything has to come back to dan.....geez
It's almost like they named it the Dan Patrick show.
❤ #JoeyVotto
#JoeyBaseball
He should just sign very short term contracts with whatever teams is playing the Redbirds.
Always killed my boys.....course now most every team does..were bad....sigh
Go REDS! #19 HOF'er
JV is the best
Always the injury bug - they look healthy but only wealthy
Joey Vato
Cincinnati needs to retire his jersey now.
