Perfect example of the epitome of a ball player. Gave it everything, knows the game but knew 100x more about baseball than life. What a lost soul. Great ball player though. He had skills of course but wasn't the most gifted. However, from a baseball perspective, I'd take 9 Lenny Dykstras over 9 Machados. He played hard and played to win.

They traded him for Juan Samuel who was a 2nd baseman and they tried to convert him to CF. That lasted only a half year as Samuel was traded to Dodgers. What a disaster trade for the Mets.
